My 53 year old brother is childless by choice. He says that kids prevent people from being able to go where they want when they want, and are a financial drain. When my brother dates someone, he wants to date the kind of person he sees a long future with. He will not knowingly date women who have children, even women whose…

All of my workouts are home-based, too. My husband and sons have a Wii for their games, but I use it for workouts. Every day I do a half hour with Wii My Fitness Coach. Each of my workouts has cardio and strength training and rotates between upper body, lower body, core and flexibility. I'm currently using 3 pound and 5…

My NSV today actually has nothing to do with my own weight/fitness journey, but I still count it as a victory anyhow. When I was out for my usual 2 mile walk last evening, one of my neighbors stopped me and asked if I'd like company on the walk, and I said sure! It was the first time in ages she'd been out walking. When I…

I've been on both ends of your situation before. It's possible your friends don't know you'd like more support and positive input, or making positive comments about your weight loss might be viewed as them thinking you were too fat before and therefore insulting. If your friends and family KNOW (you've told them) you are…

Talk to your doctor. Fertility drugs do cause weight gain, but i think at this point you aren't supposed to be worrying about gaining weight, you have other issues to deal with. From what I understand, you also should not be "exercising like mad" while taking fertility drugs as this could not only undo what you are trying…

My story: I was a skinny, underweight child until high school, and then I filled out nicely. Once I got out of high school and started a full time desk job at age 18, my weight started going up as we were required to leave our desk twice a day for a 15 minute coffee break which we always took at the diner next door.…

I've become more patient when it comes to people my age or older than myself (I now understand why they do what they do that used to annoy me when I was younger), but less tolerant of the younger set who seem to be much more "me" oriented and care less about the people around them or how their actions affect others. I've…

jcmcdaniel, your diary is closed, breathe easy!

This is probably the reason in most cases when people are asking for help. I've had people tell me their diaries were open, yet they really weren't. They could see it, and they knew their friends could see it, so they assumed everyone could see it. And a reason many people keep them closed, or have returned them to being…

I married a man 11 years younger than me -- he was 24 and I was 35 when we married, and here we are, 21 years later, still very happily married with two teenage sons. With that said, I'm cautious about saying "go for it" just because you find you are attracted to the guy who is 16 years younger than you. It almost sounds…

^^^ I agree with what she said about weight fluctuating, wait and see what next week brings. If you gain again next week or don't lose even a little bit, I would seriously consider tracking your calories to see if the explanation lies with your calories. You can eat healthy, but sometimes the healthy food you are eating…

Summer Challenge week 2 results: Challenge SW 5/29: 158 Weight 6/5: 157 Current weight 6/12: 155.5 (1.5 lbs. lost this week) Challenge GW:143 (total 2.5 lbs. lost toward goal since start of challenge, 12.5 lbs. to go!) week two additional challenge results: 1) increase fruit/vegetable intake: I added one additional fruit…

Use the Vegetable Broth that's usually sold next to the Chicken Broth. They taste very similar, mainly because of the sodium content.

My ob-gyn had put me on calcium supplements with vitamin D in them. I was on that for 6 months. Now my family doctor/general practitioner wants me off of the calcium and to start taking just vitamin D3 gelcaps instead because he said new studies have shown that it's the D3 that is helping the bones and not the calcium…

I had an excellent NSV today at my 4 month follow up with my doctor -- he told me my fatty liver had improved, but better yet, he took me off one of my blood pressure medications because my BP had improved so much, and he says if I keep doing what I'm doing that I might be able to go off of the other one in 6 months or…

http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/digestion/AN01776 Most of the sites I've seen that say don't drink water with meals appear to be blogs, or quoting non medical websites. The link above is from the Mayo Clinic website and the answer is from an MD, and it says drinking water with your meal actually aids digestion. I forgot…

I always drink liquids during my meals, usually water or milk. I have so much acid in my stomach all the time, I'm taking 3 different prescription medications every day just to cut back on acid production. If you are having hot, spicy foods or high acid food like tomato sauce, you should at least drink a little milk with…

I figured I'd better get my recipe posted before Tuesday morning comes and I find I forgot to do it! Anyhow, here goes: Deviled Veal Cutlets (6 servings, about 280 calories per serving) 1 pound thin veal cutlets (if veal is too expensive, use thin chicken cutlets and adjust the calories) 2 Tablespoons all purpose flour 1…

Dry, uncooked spaghetti. I was single and living on my own at the time, and trying to lose about 15 pounds. I was smart enough not to have things like candy, cookies, ice cream, chips etc. in the house so I wouldn't go off my diet, which consisted of good, healthy food, and I was eating 1200 calories per day (not…

Wow, that was quick! Thanks!

@inskydiamonds -- thanks for posting the spreadsheet! Can you correct something for me? For my name, it shows "6" as the current Distance From Goal, but that should read "14" (week 1 weight 157 - goal weight 143 = 14). Thanks!

Hard scoop ice cream is my favorite, but l love soft serve frozen custard, too. Given the choice, I'd go with the ice cream, though. I love vanilla and unique flavors, but don't like pieces of anything in it. Teaberry ice cream is unbelievably good! And I'd much rather have good old fashioned ice cream made with milk,…

I don't mind my husband referring to me as "The Wife". When I first met him he referred to his parents as "The 'Rents" and sometimes as "The Parental Units" and he's thinks highly of them. And don't we all refer to our offspring as "The Kids" when we talk about them? I'd much rather be referred to as "The Wife" or "My…

Yeah! Now that's what I'm talking about! I can't have one of them in the house, or I'd eat the whole thing!

It's a woman thing, Douglas. Why do married men stare at pictures of sexy women and fantasize when they know they can't have them?

Any moist dark chocolate cake with chocolate ganache filling and frosting. I could devour the entire cake if I let it into the house.

Oh my goodness, definitely no then!! I've known a few people who got really sick from the HCG diet, and as you said, ended up gaining the weight back besides having other problems as a result. Definitely talk to your own doctor and/or a dietician/nutritionist.

You said you saw "a doctor" who recommended the 800 calories per day, but did not say "my doctor" which seems to indicate this is a specialist you've just seen for the first or second time who doesn't know your medical history. Is this correct? If so, talk to your primary care/family doctor who knows your health history…
