  • Don't let the excitement of your first race get to you... pace yourself. You will go faster outside. Also, GOOD LUCK! YOU CAN DO IT!!
  • This. methinks someone needs to add a bit of sarcasm to their diet. Totally low cal, you can add alot if you want.
  • I bleed purple over here! For college it's Alabama 1st and Notre Dame 2nd. If my dad asks, those are reversed. And yes, last year's college championship game was awkward.
  • Hills suck. I can't avoid them where I am. Those guys up there ^^ seem to have the right idea. I'm just pretty much repeating I guess... From experience (not a master runner AT ALL), slow down a bit and take those short, push off steps on the uphill. Also, mental motivate yourself. I have this one hill I hate, and I count…

  • I was upset that I had gotten off track with my eating & exercise for the past week out of busyness & lazyness... Got over myself and got up this morning and ran.
  • Fellow 5'3"-er here. Highest weight was a couple years ago at 142 but I usually hover around 135. trying to get down to at least 125 and just be "in shape" and healthy. Good job doing it on your own! Friends & family can be great at times for companionship but you have to rely on yourself otherwise you might also use them…
  • I was thinking of getting one because my fitbit died and I use the Nike+ watch/app for my running. Glad to here you like it.
  • Thanks for the posts & encouragement! This healthy stuff is hard. lol
  • There is another thread just like this that I commented on called "Blame it on the alcohol". Vodka was a big recommendation. You should look at that thread too for suggestions.
  • I have the same problem tonight! I'm a beer fan, but not a LIGHT beer fan so that's a problem. Luckily, I'm also a vodka fan! :drinker: Good suggestions above. My standard "starter drink" is sugar free red Bull & orange vodka. So, that's good. Who knew I was being low cal? At home I have these flavored sparkling water…
  • I'm don't have advice... just empathy... I wrote a post earlier asking for some help.. You are NOT alone. I too have issues getting to the gym. And i do pay for an expensive membership. But it's so much easier/safer to get on my treadmill at home. It's not about being gross & sweaty looking, it's part…
  • Thanks for the advice & recommendations. Never thought about compound exercises. As for this... Honestly, because the gym intimidates me. Classes & cardio machines I'm fine with but anything else makes me so nervous I don't want to go.
  • Thanks to all! I'm going to leave it bc I do sit at a desk the majority of the day M-F AND because I log my workouts (and/or my fitbit does it). Seems to be the best, most accurate way to do it.
  • Thank you all SO much for the encouragement and advice. I think posting here was the best thing that I could have done for my training. Everybody's suggestions & experience were great and it held me accountable since it was in print. I did NOT start over. I just went outside this morning and walked up my hill until…
