I did my first fast a few days ago and made it all 24 hours includig a great workout of elliptical, biceps and boot camp without a problem. I flet great, was energized and mentally focused. It was so nice not to have to think about food, when to eat what to eat how much to eat which normally consumes my day. I am on my…

Almond and Coconut milk also low in sugar 1 g I think - love them in cereal (kasha) or oatmeal

If you are trying to lose the last few pounds than any sugar counts - including fruit and dairy however if you have a lot to go or are maintaining then I agree healthy/natrual sugars in moderation are okay.

skim milk has lactose - that is sugar!

Anybody read anything regarding eating days that you are up for long periods of time? I never know if I should up my calories those days or stretch my limit out over the 20 - 24 hours am up.

I am and ER doc and work only nights after y last shift for the week I stay up all day to see my kids and try and re set my clock. I use that as my day to up my calories because it is so hard all I want to do is eat. That said yes when you are tired it is tough and I feel this is the factor holding me back from losing…

You look great and yes my body fat is on the low side but it seems that the last 5 are on my back side and just would love to get it off. I think you are right though I ate perfect 100% clean for 6 months, became obsessive and did lose it but it is almost impossible to be there all the time.

Thanks to all for replies. I am 40 yo, 5'7", fairly musculature. I work in an ER and am up and down but probably am at the computer a fair amount (sitting) but otherwise active doing housework, chasing kids...when home. I have brought my calories up to 1800-2200 and actually gained weight so it is frustrating to find the…

Looking at the food you are eating I have a hard time believing you are staying within your calorie goal. Are you sure your portions are right? That can really throw people off. You should be eating every 3 to 4 hours and make sure there is low fat protein in every meal/snack. I would avoid noodles and try a sweet potato…

there is a recipe calorie counter on here somewhere I am not computer savvy so still figuring this site out. I have not tried the recipes yet but might with my kids today I will let you know:happy:

This sounds tempting. Has anyone looked at the calorie count since there is sugar in the mixes? Also with all the "reduced sugar" it sounds like a lot of artificial sweetener which can still cause some people to spike insulin, cause cravings.... but it does sound like a nice occasional treat, I might try it for Christmas!!

I love lentils but always see high calorie per servings on most recipes. When you say one cup 18 g protein is that cooked or uncooked? I will have to relook at these yummy things.

I love this post and love quinoa but have to watch the calories because I could definitely eat more than one serving!!

Thank you for the advice. I am well aware of the 80% nutrition and will do my best but am use to doing boot camp, high intensity interval training, heavy weights and long runs. I think psychologically I am going to have a hard time. When I stress I want carbs so I just need to come up with plans for that and yes, do any…

Its funny everyone seems to have a hard time with the water - it is my nemesis so here are mine (you;ve inspired me) Drink more water - at least 100 oz Run at least 4 miles No late night snacking and most of all have a great Christmas day with the kids - Santa, Tress shopping, holiday party...

its not all about calories but type of calories too. She needs to eat clean and every few hours making sure that she has some form of protein. She can try cutting out all processed carbs and get them from low glycemic index fruits, vegetables, and ezekiel bread (even whole wheat is not healthy - people don't get that). You…

I will be having knee surgery in january and non weight bearing for 6 weeks! I am feeling the same fear although diet is 80% I use the few hours of travel, gym time,... to stay out of the house and away from food as well as an awesome calorie burn so I hear you. I sill plan on heading to gym to do weights or whatever I…

I am in, this is my one remaining weakness (and not liking plain water!) I am making a vow not to eat past 7pm (or 2 hours prior to bed - I work nights and go to bed at 1 or 2 in afternoon some days. Only tea or diet cocoa.

How are you estimating your burn?? I wore a bodybugg for months and realized how overestimating I was on calories - don't listen to the machines they over estimate by anywhere from 20-40%!! Especially the wii and the elliptical - you'd have to work out for well over an hour to burn 500 on an elliptical or be very overweight

Ezekiel Bread (so much healthier than whole wheat) Egg whites Pomegranites Chicken Salmon All natural butters

I agree with the last post the bagel has to go they are high in calories and usually low on nutrition. I would try steel cut oats or ezekiel bread with eggs or protein in the am and again add some protein to the grape snack in the afternoon - maybe some cottage cheese or a low sugar greek yogurt. Protein helps fill you and…
