You could try to control portion size when you're "trying something new", exercise more earlier in the day to allow yourself more calories, or try to fit it into your diet by cutting back a little bit on your meals and snacks before you go out. Strength training would be an excellent choice because it elevates your body's…

Great job! Way to achieve your goals!

There's dairy and eggs still to get your complete proteins from. Whey protein is still an option, too, if you're having trouble meeting your protein needs, unless you're going the full vegan route. If these options are not included in your dietary choices, there's always soy, nuts and seeds, and a wide variety of beans and…

Your daily calorie allowance has a built in shortfall, so if you go over a bit it's no big deal. Just try to stay close to it, whether it's over a bit or under by a bit. If you're losing weight (and it sounds like you're doing great!), then keep on doing what you're doing.
-
Just wanted to add that you should make sure that you're eating back most of your exercise calories! Very important!

I'ld try to keep your strength training sessions to 45-60 minutes maximum. More than that can actually have a negative effect on your muscles. Maybe do your upper body one day and your lower body on your next workout day. That should give your muscles plenty of time to repair themselves and grow in between workouts. Save…

I would suggest either cuting out your running on days that you strength train, or try to do your running first thing in the morning and do your strength training later on in the day, after a meal or two. Make sure that you're getting enough protein and carbs to help your body recover properly post-workout.

I'ld log it as exercise, for sure! Walking for a couple of hours is definatly worth several hundred calories!
-
That's not a silly question at all. Yes, housecleaning is considered exercise. You can log it in your exercise diary under "cleaning", as well as your walk. You should eat back at least half of those calories so your body doesn't slip into the dreaded "starvation mode", where your body actually holds on to fatty tissue and…

If your legs are still pretty sore tomorrow, I would give them another day to rest. You could try doing some stretching today and after your workouts to get rid of the soreness. Glutamine is a supplement that you might want to look into because it helps speed up healing for damaged muscles. Also stay hydrated and make sure…

Have you tried using exercise or yoga mats to reduce the noise?

Your calorie intake is way too low. As a 236 pound man, I am supposed to eat about 2200 calories per day, and that's before my exercise calories. Try bumping your daily calorie consumption up by 500-600 calories, at least. Going over on your protein is nothing to worry about, the default settings for protein are quite low.…

Because most fruits and vegetables have less fat and overall calories than meat and dairy products. Therefore, you can eat more, and actually be taking in fewer calories, unless you overdo it with starchy veggies such as potatoes or fruit, which contains a lot of sugar.

I disagree with your figure of 15%. While that may be fine for a person with a sedentary lifestyle, a person that regularly exercises needs much more than that to build and maintain muscle mass. According to Men's Health, 1 gram of protein per pound of target body weight is a reasonable target. That would mean that a…

Crunches, reverse crunches, hanging leg raises, planks, side planks, McGill curlups, dumbbell chops, hip crossovers, barbell rollouts, jackknifes, mountain climbers, overhead dumbbell side bends, and side crunches. That's about all I can think of off the top of my head! Check out the Men's Health website, or any other…

I usually have a quick protein shake with skim milk and a scoop of whey protein, along with a banana or piece of fruit. Post workout I usually blend up a shake with skim milk, whey, a banana, some strawberries and sometimes a spoonfull of peanut butter. I believe you are supposed to try to consume something with a 3 to 1…

It shouldn't. It's a cardio exercise, more useful for burning fat than building muscle.

I've lost 5 pounds in the 25 days I've been on MFP.

Great advice!

I weigh myself most mornings but don't get upset if it fluctuates up and down a bit. I started weight training a couple of months ago and my weight loss slowed dramatically, but I didn't mind because my waist measurements kept decreasing while my arm and chest measurements started increasing, which meant that I was still…

I checked it out on Wicki and this is what it says: Health concerns A principal concern about sodium nitrite is the formation of carcinogenic nitrosamines in meats containing sodium nitrite when exposed to high temperatures. Sodium nitrite's usage is carefully regulated in the production of cured products in the United…

I agree. Adding a little bit of lean muscle mass is a great way to burn off fatty tissue.
-
Have you tried strength or weight training? Adding a little bit of muscle mass can help burn more calories during your cardio sessions. In fact, if you are relying solely on cardio exercise to lose weight, you are probably actually losing muscle as well as fatty tissue. This can cause your weight loss to plateau. I would…

For something like that you would probably need to enter a new exercise, i.e. "Walking with weights" or something similar. You would probably need a heart rate monitor to calculate the calories burned accurately. That would be my suggestion, anyways.
