Saw this on another thread, and it really stuck... "Be kind to yourself. It's hard to be happy when someone's being mean to you all the time." <3

My favorites are sweet potatoes (plain), quinoa (or other whole grains), sauteed kale and roasted veggies (prepped with a little olive oil, salt & pepper). (Having the same issues as you, so following this thread...)

THIS is why I am anti-scale. I don't have time or the inclination to be a psychotic mess just to make sure my numbers aren't 100 calories (+/-) off.

You are not alone. I am also on the long-term roller coaster weight loss/gain ride. I started MFP over a year ago, and in that time lost about 15 lbs. I'm back up to almost my starting weight. Summer seems to be easier, when you're always doing something, and (here at least) it's so hot you don't feel like eating much. But…

A treadmill is all I have at home, so when I'm on it, I keep myself distracted with either my laptop (up on the display, watching my favorite shows or a movie - gotta love Netflix!), my Kindle, or my cell cranking the music. Whatever distraction I use, I block the time display so I'm not counting the minutes.

A bottle does not a redhead make - it only gives you reddish hair. Only real gingers know what being a redhead really means. :)

I'm right there with you. I'd been counting calories, tracking, and exercising when my boyfriend finally caught on to MFP. We've both been on the program a year, and he's lost 30 lbs (and STILL going!) while I've completely stalled out after losing 6. It's completely unfair, and it is frustrating to no end, but…

I am so definitely in on this diet...

You might try eating more frequently to kick start your metabolism. You seem to be eating at a decent calorie range, but maybe you should try to break that up into more meals throughout the day. Keep as active as you are, and do the activities you enjoy. Good luck!

Fortunately for me, I have a full size refrigerator and microwave at work. I keep a 32oz container of greek yogurt, a pint of berries & a box of granola/cereal for breakfast all week. I keep Trader Joe's "handful" of unsalted almonds & low sugar protein bars, bagged veggies, fruit (apples, oranges, etc) & string cheese for…

Cute is the appearance; sexy is the attitude.

Stick with the 1,400. The person above mention the "road map" (link shown below), and that's an extremely helpful article to read comparing our BMR to TDEE. But you can't argue with your results. If you've lost 9lbs already doing what you're doing, why change it?…

Regardless of what you choose to eat for breakfast, you should realize that the reason you're hungry a few hours after breakfast is because your body is now "started". You've kicked off your metabolism for the day, and it's ready for more a few hours later. My hunger was horrible when I used to eat cereal, but now that I…

I'm 5'5", and the smallest I've ever been was 150 -- and I looked horrible (gaunt face, hip bones sticking out). I was recently told that the "ideal" weight chart says that women should weigh 100 lbs at 5', and add 5lbs for every inch after that. I'm sorry, but if I ever made it to 125lbs, I'd be dead.

^^^ This. Guys, you're not the only ones who bulk up when you do strength training. I just went to the doctor and as she was taking my blood pressure, she asked if I've been lifting weights. (I laughed. "No.") She said my arms are so big, and the muscles defined, she thought I was in the gym every day. This is my biggest…

Two things: 1) Reduce your daily calorie intake to around 1400-1600, and see if it budges. At your height & weight, you want to stick close to your BMR. 2) EAT REAL FOOD. Avoiding fruit because it has carbs, but eating a Special K breakfast sandwich, is ridiculous. Greek yogurt? If you don't want the sugar, get the plain -…

There's these amazing little electronic devices (quite reasonably priced, too), wherein you place bread into slots, push a lever down, and a minute later, the bread pops up perfectly toasted!! TA-DAAHH!!

Oh, you poor thing... :) She can make ME breakfast!! But seriously, if you don't like what she puts together, make your own. Or, to completely change things up and maybe score some extra brownie points - MAKE HER BREAKFAST!!

It's not fair, and it's kinda illogical... but this.^^^ I'm in her shoes right now. It really sucks being a chick sometimes...

I'm a cheater. I put chunks of celery, potatoes, carrots & other veggies on bottom, a chunk of beef (type doesn't matter - CHEAP!), and then pour a can of Campbell's Select French Onion soup on top. Set crock pot on warm while I'm at work, and dinner is served. :)

Agreed. Polyamory, multiple spouses, etc. should be a decision left up to the adult participants involved. The cults, sects, and religious whack-jobs have given the concept a negative connotation, but when you start talking about child brides, or forced marriages, that's nowhere near the same thing. That is statutory rape,…

I learned to drive in my Dad's Toyota pickup with manual transmission, put in 4-Low, so I was able to shift into 4th gear before reaching 20 mph. The first car I bought was a stick - which I didn't take into consideration when driving into downtown Seattle the next day for work (BIG hills) - but I dealt with it just fine.…

For underarms, put your arm behind your head, your hand between your shoulderblades. It makes the pit flat. :) For knees (back or front), just keep your leg straight, bending at the waist. Enjoy the weekend!

Easy to get that much protein, but you can't do it without eating lean meats or low-fat dairy. Plain, fat-free Greek yogurt (8oz = 133 cals, 24 g protein) Chicken breast (4oz = 100 cals, 24 g protein) Egg whites (4 egg whites = 69 cals, 14 g protein) Lean beef or pork (8 oz lean stew beef, for example = 311 cals, 41 g…
