welcome here. I like the MFP better than WW. I was looking for more control and tracking, at least reporting, on nutritional elements like calories, sodium, fat, protein, and carb, ... I am exercising, and it really helps to keep an eye on that.

It is a way to keep the body guessing which way you are gonna swing. Eat more calories on some days than the others basically. If you are constantly low in calories and food intake, Your body will think there is starvation around the corner and .... the body is said to hold on to all it can. Weight loss slows down. I don't…

I struggle. Just today I was whining about that in my status update to my MFP buddies. Planning helps. Being picky helps. I also need to come to terms that leaving food on the plate is OK. either it goes to waste or to my waist. I also try to separate eating out and going out in my mind.

try peanut butter salad dressing: thai style.

I don't use sour cream. Yogurt rules. Go crazy. have it with honey, have it with herbs, have it with fruit, have it with cinnamon, have it with meat, have it with crackers as a dip, mix it, yummy yummy calcium, friendly bacteria, digestion, ... superfood!

you seemed to be progressing pretty well. Keep at it. I myself have the same dilemma albeit not with home-cooked, but specifically MOM-cooked meals.!!! I think first get back with your mom. My mom is a terrific cook too. Of course, nurturing their babies is their instinct, no matter how old the babies get. And thanks for…

At least, I can say I eat the burned calories. I also take it easy in tracking the burned calories, try not to overestimate them, that is. Good luck in your journey.

Straight up strawberries. Luscious and delicious. 8 strawberries for 35 calories. The cheapest thrill in town! For a more sophisticated sweet: Get a cereal bowl Slice a fruit like one medium peach. Or why not strawberries!. Dump a good load of cinnamon on . Grounded of course. Cinnamon is slightly acidic, and regulates…

Weight is a rather personal and emotional issue. I don't usually interfere. I think it should come from within. Can you really convince someone to loose weigh or improve what they eat if don't have the smallest internal inclination or recognition to do something about themselves? Also, some people (most?) would like to…

I think drinking caffeinated drinks should not count towards your water intake. I account calories for the flavored drinks. With plain water, you can try to make it a little less bland: add few twigs of peppermint, a slice of lemon, orange, or a slice of cucumber. Good luck.

Should value this Single-ton card highly and play it right :)

I myself don't like the extra sugar in flavored yogurts, greek or not. Yogurt, fresh fruit, and cinnamon. I love that combination. I actually like the sour taste of yogurts which I use in place of sour cream, or in salad experiments. Like with parsley, cucumber, celery, green onions, ... in a savory salad type snack. Or as…

Good explanation. I also see some pals are doing a zig-zag to jazz up the metabolism and break body's homeostasis resistance to change. Zig-Zag seems to be basically have more calories in one day and less the other so the body keeps guessing what's ahead. :)

Take this opportunity to start a new relationship with your body. Eat little more when she asks for it. But stay in control. Don't over do it and keep it accountable - keep track of the calories. I treat my hunger and body like a little spoiled kid. Give me give me! it cries. You try to teach something and learn something…

Another vote of support for PB. Keep an eye on the portions and make it into a delightful experience for all. Crackers.Carefully cut slices of apple. A piece of perfect toast, not too black, not too soft. All nicely cut up and arranged on a nice plate. Put your favorite soft music on. Dim the lights. Take your time to…

It is quite illuminating and very nice to hear people sharing here. I too am a stress eater. I deal with that head on. Reduce the stress. Recognize that it is coming. And try to mitigate the situation before hitting the snack bar. In a reverse way, enjoying food could be effective too. Once you develop an appreciation and…

I allow for a evening snack. In a way I separate my dinner into two portions. Also, I try to listen to my urges and see where they are coming from. It can be amazingly insightful. Sometimes, I skipped logging my exercise. And the body is right to ask for more. Sometimes it is work stress taking its toll. Sometimes an empty…

You can click on your own profile and see that. This would take you to your profile page: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/sroutley This is different than the landing page that greets you. It is the page that your friends see in your profile. Your activity, postings, comments, ... it is all there then. Hope it helps. Best of…

I didn't hear about celery. My ways: Reduce salt, introducing spices to replace the salt like cumin, blackpepper, garlic, turmeric Continue with the weight management. Exercise. Fix the mind. What goes on in my mind stresses not only the heart but most everything. Good luck. Consult with your doctor too if you have…

Search for "cleaning" when you add cardio exercise I came across two: Cleaning, heavy, vigorous effort Cleaning, light, moderate effort Shows 250-300 calories per hour. Sounds reasonable to me.

Count me as one!

I usually do plan ahead and not track as I eat. Some people get annoyed, take notice, give you hard time, they are curious, and all. Not only in counting or not-counting, eating or not eating, overeating or not-overeating. People and friends will poke you about things. Well, it doesn't matter what others think. Some…

I suggest taking a snack break with an apple, yogurt and drink between breakfast and lunch. It takes away the stress from the breakfast, and it will hold you up for lunch. Other than that, my favorite breakfast is chopped parsley and other herbal things on i cup of yogurt with a slice of toast.

Many thanks for sharing the pics. You look great. Keep it off. Keep it up. Congratulations. great work.

Sounds wonderful. Keep at it. It is going to grow on you. As you feel more comfortable increase the duration a little and see how you and your body like it. Do your stretches after and before. Your capacity will increase, muscles will adjust, lung capacity will increase, heart rate is going to adjust. Try to make it fun…

count me in. do we stop after 5K? :)

Hang in there. Don't give up. It is a journey. It is not the speed. Even if you don't get to your goal of losing 5 by Halloween, you will have been mighty closer to your goal of losing 5 pounds. Sometimes look back and see how far you have come.
