  • You will get great results from the workout alone, even if you occasionally miss a day. You would get more, faster if you followed everything to a T, but it's not necessary. I <3 P90X. I haven't followed the meal plan at all (I probably should...) and I have definitely seen results. I'm the fittest I have ever been.
  • Don't take it to such extremes, that is what throws you off. Don't tell yourself "NO junk food EVER", because the more you do that the more you'll want it and the more inclined you'll be to be miserable and give up. Let yourself have the things you want, but have less, less often. If you're going to McDonald's or Subway,…
  • As long as you aren't feeling light-headed or notice your thinking become cloudy, never worry about being low on carbs.

  • Push-ups are fantastic. Arms, chest, core: all at once and to whatever intensity you like.
  • It absolutely does, it's phenomenal. I've always hated workout dvds and a struggle with motivation sometimes, but I love P90X. I cheer when I finish a workout and I feel fantastic all day. X! ETA: I've also lost two sizes, 7 cm off my waist, 10cm off my hips, and I am in the best shape of my life.
  • I'm not a big fan of regular yoghurt, but I adore Greek yoghurt, I go through three tubs a week. To me it tastes *a lot* better. I still don't eat plain, though, I eat vanilla or a fruit flavour. Although plain is all right if you eat it as topping on fruit salad. It takes away that sour taste.
  • A bath with epsom salts and/or cedar should help a lot with muscle soreness.
  • Log your workouts and you will see an increase in caloric allotment. MFP has a built in deficit for every-day activity-level. If you're doing more, you need to eat more. ETA: Everyone I've talked to about p90X says it works best if you follow the diet plan. I haven't been and haven't seen as dramatic results in consequence.
  • Pull-ups. ;)
  • I'm almost 5'8" and even when I was 130 I had chafing problems. Of course, I was much less fit/toned, so who knows. It depends on your fat distribution and body composition. You could weigh 160 and have that space.
  • I had someone tell me I am getting "obsessed" because I walked across my university courtyard to the gym to weigh myself (don't have a scale in res). I weigh in once a week, if even that! She thinks because I'm exercising six times a week and watching what I eat I'm too focussed on fitness. Hardly. My diet is still not at…
  • It's actually way cheaper to always buy fresh food. If you eat vegetarian or vegan your grocery bills can be 30$ a week or less. I was vegan for about six months (as a diet strategy, not as a lifestyle choice) and I couldn't believe how much money I saved. Vegetables in season are very cheap.
  • I definitely see a difference in your stomach, hips, and thighs. Getting toned up! Keep at it.
  • Around 350-500.
  • Gave up alcohol because it was really the only regular indulgence I had left lol. I wasn't eating enough chocolate or noodles or other luxury foods that giving them up would have been much of a sacrifice, but I do enjoy my evening glass of wine.
  • Awesome work. I'm excited for you! Almost there!
  • You should not be eating below your BMR and exercising.
  • The truth we all have to face is that that's where most of the fat lives and it's going to take the longest to go away. I've also lost quite a bit of weight (more more fat %) and seen only a little change in my waist. Things like getting enough water, supplementing vitamin D, staying away from salt and sugar, and toning…
  • I think that's totally accurate. If you delve in, you discover a lot of nutritionists and bodybuilders saying the same thing. Healthful fats are nothing to fear and it's actually difficult to get too much of them. The problem is bad fats, carbs, and processed sugars. Stuff like olive oil? Rock on.

  • You must weight train to build and maintain muscle, muscle burns more calories when you are not working out just by existing, the greater your muscle mass the higher your metabolism. Besides which, you'd be surprised how many calories you can burn in a good full-body strength training session.
  • You should probably actually do back exercises (in order to strengthen the supporting muscles whilst also reducing their load by burning fat), just very low intensity and taking it slowly. You might want to ask your doctor about how you should start, though.
  • I ran 5k without stopping or slowing down on Saturday (never done that before in my LIFE and it wasn't even HARD, I <3 P90X) and I'm *still* walking like a lame duck. It was quite a bit better today, then I tried to run for the bus. Ow. My calves hate me. Even after Yoga and many stretches. Just got to wait it out, I…
  • It might, but you will look better, feel better, and have a higher metabolism. Why does the number matter?
  • Today I did all real, full-on push-ups in my P90X workout (I've been doing knees)!
  • I don't have a link to the material, but I have read again and again that red wine is actually extremely beneficial to not just weight loss, but good general good health. That's a glass a day, though. It's a bit high-calorie for a social drinking night. There you want to go with vodka, pretty sure it is the lowest cal…
  • Definitely keep Yoga, it is extremely beneficial and the Yoga X is a fantastic, thorough yoga workout. I think I work harder on that than any of the others. For cardio days, any cardio that burns about 400-500 calories and works the whole body is equal the P90X cardio, so if you want to sub those workouts I'd say go for it.
  • My only advice (I've gone vegan before, not for lifestyle or ethical reasons, but as a diet and convenience living on my own at university) is never to try to substitute "imitation" dairy for the real thing. Just change your eating habits and eat things that already lack those ingredients. Fakes will only exacerbate…
  • Yeah, frozen food is going to do more to hurt you than help you. Lean, fresh meats, fish, and lots and lots of veggies is the way to go. Also, what ladyhawk00 said.
  • You need to eat enough fuel that your body is comfortable and confident it doesn't need to store fat. If you starve yourself, your body will take every possible step to STOP FAT LOSS and increase storage of everything you DO eat. You will lose muscle tissue and hang on to fat. It is (obviously) possible to lose weight by…
  • One a day isn't really moderation for something as bad for the body as soda (and it really, really doesn't matter if it's diet or regular), maybe try cutting it back slowly. If you wean yourself off of it, you likely won't miss it. You could drink less and less or replace it with carbonated water or juice to start with.
