I just kept walking and my gut tightened up, my bust perked up, and I looked much better. My naive feeling was that the fat physically wasn't there any more, so the cells had to tighten up. It was like after I had my kids. But looks great now.

It isn't hard to log your food. It's just tedious. But so is brushing your teeth. You're not succeeding. If you really want to lose you just have to eat less. That's just how it works. You don't have to do that, but otherwise you're not going to get down to 150. That's how it works. Wish it were easier, but that's the deal.

I'm almost there - 2 more pounds to go. I did this two winters ago too. You can lose it.
-
Didn't you ask this question the other day? I log because I find it fun and - like you - I'm a bit of a control freak. I've done it four years. But I'm way looser than I used to be when I was losing and I almost never use it to stop eating. Often I use it to confirm when I'm hungry that, yeah, I should eat more because I…

I realized today that what I really love wearing is bell bottom yoga pants, a simple tee shirt, and a hoodie. No camouflage, a clean simple look, and I feel great. At 57.
-
First off, just a couple of great tank bathing suits. And some terrific slim pants and leggings.

I let it go. And unlike some folks, I find weighing every day makes me worry less because I see the fluctuations and know they're okay. Anxiety is a personality trait - some people are just worriers. When I was at a deficit, this was kind of a hobby and I thought about it a lot. Now I maintain and have other hobbies. Learn…

I eat around 1400 and I net 1270. I do at least 30 minutes active exercise/12 hours standing/330 calories activity every day - that means an hour walk and my regular activities. I'm 57, 5'10", 157 pounds. I've maintained 4 years.

My husband did - and he's a tai chi instructor. It was a challenge. It did hurt when he got back into exercising. But he healed beautifully with no lasting negative effects. Get back into it slowly as the scar tissue stretches and watch your fat intake.

At one point calories used a ridiculous amount of my headspace. Four years in, it doesn't any more. It's not that I do things differently, it's just that it's a habit. So I get up in the morning, go to the bathroom, get on the scale, and brush my teeth. It's just what I do. Just like I eat, I log, I do the next thing. I…

I weigh every morning. I know I'm going to fluctuate. If I did it once a week or once a month I'd pay too much attention to it.

I've never had cheat days. BUT I go for weekly calories. If you don't have some days you go over, you can't average to your target. I usually am over a few hundred calories one day a week and the rest I'm under.

I get the obsessive thing. I try to make a distinction between committing to good habits (healthy) and obsessing (worrying about doing things less than perfectly - unhealthy). So I am a committed logger and haven't missed for years. BUT I just logged a chocolate cake that could be off by 200 calories and I'm just letting…

I find if helps a lot if I eat a little of what I crave. 5 almonds. 1/4 cup of ice cream. Counting out those 17 chips in an ounce. Lots of tea. Deprivation is not good for me. But eating just a little of what I want and I do fine. Not at all at once - pick one and walk AWAY from the kitchen with your tea.

Our whole family is because of my son's severe chronic migraines and my husband's guts: low tyramine, gluten-free, no eggs (except for me), and limited cows milk.
-
It is. Good luck! I also lost about that much, regained 5 pounds after 4 years, and am losing again. 3 more to go.
-
It's easier to count things like potato chips than weigh them. (18/oz for my favorite kind). I stick them in a bowl so I have to make a decision to get up and get more if I want more after I'm done. Estimating helped a lot. Just keep spot checking once in a while to make sure your estimates are on par. If you have dishes…

A friend of mine does some of those research studies that show how easy it is to lose weight compared to how hard it is to maintain. She says it takes at least ONE YEAR to recalibrate your set point so your body isn't holding on to those calories dearly. I've maintained for four years. That did resonate with me because…

I do log but it almost always tells me I'm eating too little, not too much. If that's true of you too, go for it. I would also continue to look up foods you're not sure about. For example, a small vanilla shake - which I wouldn't have thought that huge a splurge - is almost half my calories for the day. It's not something…

I eat back my exercise calories without an extra thought if I'm hungry. Otherwise I ignore them. My body seems to know what to do.
-
Eating something just because it looks good when I'm not really hungry. And as soon as I put it in my mouth I know I don't want it - it was habit. I know it's gonna make me feel crummy. If no one is around, I just spit. It's dumb to eat something you know you don't want just because you were silly enough to pick it up.…

The goal is not to lose the weight, it's to maintain a healthy weight forever. Personally, I think that's what makes it easier - every day I step on the scale and I'm still there, I celebrate.
-
I did that. I have a 5 pound range and have maintained in it for 4 years. Some people bounce around more, but I'm usually +- 3 pounds.

You're young, you'd doing a lot of exercise, and you're only eating 1800 or you're netting 1800? I ask because although I'm tall, I'm 56 and you lose of lot of maintenance calories with age. My maintenance calories are 1730. I'm set to sedentary but normally eat another 500 calories because of my steps. So I EAT 2230. And…
-
Like veggiecanner said. You adjust until it works. You've done great. If you're gaining drop 250 calories and see how you do.
-
After four years of maintenance I am trying to lose my weight. It has been very slow and hard. But then again, it's probably not harder than it was at the END of my loss, just much slower than the beginning. In my own weight loss, I lost very quickly until I was at the weight I am at now. Then it took my 6 months to lose…

I hit my goal of losing 40 pounds more than 3 years ago and just finished my 1400 day of logging every single meal. I'm back to my slim, healthy college weight. I'm 57 now and feel much better having lost the weight. Sadly, my students (I'm a professor) and others treat me much better - more respect, more attention - than…
