Another vote for strong curves and Bretcontreras. Barbell glute bridges and hip thrusts are amazing for targeted glute activation. Unlike getting visible abs, great derrière s are made in the gym, not in the kitchen.

Yes. Whenever I go out to a pub mainly. It makes me feel awkward as I don't like rejecting people and am always up for a chat with a random, but I have been with my husband since I was 19 so their advances always have to be rejected. And then I feel guilty for turning people down.

I am doing the Strong Curves program and am big fan. It is uncomplicated and appears to be delivering great results, though I am pretty early in. It really helps focus on form and there is a good balance of arms and legs in every workout. Current profile pic is me 4 weeks into the Advanced Lifter workout program. Hip…

Joining a gym and learning how to lift weights was definitely the best decision I have made. I was allergic to exercise before that point and finding an exercise that I love has changed my life along with my body.

Everyone looks amazing.

42 and feeling great.

I have significantly changed my body over the past two years while my husband has stayed overweight. To be honest it has placed stress on our relationship as the way I look now has made him feel insecure and he is not as fun to be around. I understand the reasons why, but it does make me question the long term viability of…

That is the stupidest thing I have seen in ages. Why set yourself for injury just to show off.

I squatted 130% of my body weight today which was 80kg. When I started lifting it was just the oly bar, then I reached 100% bodyweight last year and having been working slowly to the point that I will be able to do 200% someday in the future.

She is supervised and I like to give her pointers on form so she doesn't injure herself. She is not allowed near the kettlebells despite her desire to do squats with them. I reckon her schoolbag would weigh more than those little tiddler weights. I have passively agressively liked an article on the subject on facebook so…

I am 41 and only started lifting 18 months ago so no way are you too old. I, went from a size 14 (australian) to a size 8 and lost around 15kg pretty much only lifting and roughly sticking to lowish calorie goal. My progress is not as fast as some but I have a hectic lifestyle so find it hard to devote lots of time to…

Well apple seeds to contain cyanide, but it is all good if you swallow them whole as apparently the shell of the seed protects you. Don't chew them though.

I get lots of nice comments from the wonderful peeps on my friends list which is great. Whenever I meet someone that hasn't seen me in a while, their first comments are "you look amazing" Best of all is that formerly mean voice in my head now tells me that I have the arms and shoulders of a goddess.

That's what my formerly Aspie 13 year old would have said also.

I like precious metals and do lots of typo's (and MFP won't let me change it to the correct spelling) . Plus it makes me laugh whenever people use the short version of my user name.

American Staff/Neapolitan Mastiff that we refer to as Lucifer. Her favourite hobby is to disembowel teddies and cushions.

I did worry about it as the traditional wisdom is that as you get older you have to choose between your backside or your face. After losing 15 kg in the past year I have decided that loosing that you won't look wrinlier if you lose weight if you are keeping up the hydration and sunscreen. Oh and lift weights. It tricks…

Perth, Western Australia. Most isolated city in the world.

So very true.

I am reading Emperor of Thrones by Mark Lawerence. It is book three in the series and is very good but very dark.

I just finished a triology by Paul Hoffman called the Left Hand of God. I read all three, quite long, books in a week they were so gripping. It was a great though I was outraged reading one particular chapter describing a battle, because the author was describing the battle of Agincourt, then I I realised I was a complete…

I love this thread so much, it has kept me inspired to keep lifting. It is pretty much the only exercise I do and it has completely transformed my body composition and self confidence. I went from a size 14 (UK) to a size 8 in the past year and lost 15kg. I can't recommend weightlifting for women enough.

Just drink ordinary green tea which can be cheaply purchased at the supermarket. It is a great anti-oxidant and can provides a mild metabolism boost.

One day old, as it was taken yesterday.

Have patience would be my advice. It is pretty early days and if you have just started exercising your muscles will hang onto water so your weight will be fluctuating for a while. Consistent logging and a reasonable amount of exercise is the consistent formula for most of the success stories on MFP.

Exactly how I feel. This year has been a year of change in every single aspect of my life. Change is good!

5'3 & 58kg (127 lb) I think my BF is around 24% - no sign of a six pack yet unfortunately though I have veins popping out at the moment so I am either super dehydrated at the moment or my body fat is lower than I think. Australian Size 8 Bottom Size 10 Top I am not really following a specific program at the moment. I had a…

Thanks for all great advice folks. I suspect it was down to poor form today. I was trying to do chest presses on a balance ball and for my first set, I think I had the angle all wrong. Too many people in the area with benches and the squat rack, so I was improvising (badly it seems) I already have gloves but they don't…

- start lifting heavy weights ASAP. It will change your life - don't be so hard on yourself all the time. It is okay to be an outlier

Sure. I have visited one of the people on my FL, even though we live on opposite sides of the country. We became friends via a completely different forum many years ago and have caught up in person many times over years. She is as awesome in rl as she is online, so why not. I would be happy to meet most of the people on my…
