  • I use what is called a luncheon or salad plate for dinner, which is about 7". I find the dinner plate is just too huge for us, which is about 10". At breakfast and lunch I use a bread and butter plate, which is about 5".
  • Motivation is what gets your started. Habit is what keeps you going. I like this because motivation comes and goes but if you build good habits they become part of your routine and you will continue them even when you are not motivated.
  • I log as I go. I tend to log my meal just before I eat it and then I make adjustments after I eat. I find doing this I am more honest and have better success.
  • I have done WW but for me I have found that I need to count calories and make sure that I am eating a balanced diet. I can not have free foods because I need the accountablitiy that every food has a cost and to have to decide is that food worth it. Does that mean I never eat junk food? No, I do eat it once in a while but…
  • I don't tend to but if I am having a day that I am feeling unsually hungry then I will eat them if needed and notfeel guilty about it. I try to listen to me body and do what it needs to be healthy.
  • Congrats! That is fabulous!
  • One of my favorite lunches out is a bowl of hot and sour soup. A cup of hot and sour soup is about 70 calories so you can have a lot of soup without a lot of calories and for me it is very satisfying especially on cold days. In fact this is what I had for lunch today, about 1.5 cups, because I wanted a light lunch that…
  • Thank you for the help.
  • It is a slow process and at times it is not easy but I take each day at a time, each change at a time, and celebrate each small victory at a time. Motivation comes and goes so I am continuing to work on creating healthy habits to cometinue to carry me during those times when my motivation is MIA.
  • I am short, 5' 0". I know people started noticing about 30 pounds but didn't say anthing except for teasing me about needing smaller jeans, these were good friends. Most friends started openly asking me if I had lost weight about 50 pounds and now at 90 pounds they they comment on how good I look with a warning not to get…
  • This I am taking things slower getting used to each change before adding another change. I am listening to my body better and if something isn't working with it I try to figure why and change it to something that will work. Every change I make has to be something that I can continue the rest of my life. I am working at…
  • You most definetly can lose weight walking, I have. As long as you are active doing something that you enjoy it will help you get healthy and you will continue it. If you don't care to run but really like walking then by all means walk! I walk go for a 1 hour walk every morning. I started at 1 mile and now walk a little…
  • You have taken the first step. You decided that you needed to do something to get healthy again. Nowe take a deep breathe. You didn't gain all the weight in one day so it will take time to lose it. Set small goals and focus on them and as you achieve them celebrate them and then set another small goal. You will lose your…
  • I used to be always hot but I am now cool to cold most of the time. I am entering menospause and while most women talk about hot flashes I seem to get cold flashes so I keep a sweater or jacket around and wear it when needed.
  • Every woman is very different on how they lose weight especially in the bust area. I was a 42DD and am now a 34DD. I wouldn't mind losing more in the boobs especially in the cup size. Last time I lost a lost of weight my boobs looked deflated this time I am doing it slower and healthier so they are going down portionally…
  • I eat a better balanced diet, watch my portion size, and excerise (mainly walking). In other words fewer calories in than used= weight loss
  • For logging in food, I had to make myself log it in before I could eat it and then adjust if I didn't eat it all. This way I knew what I was getting ready to eat and it made it a habit. Now I tend to log right afterwards but I still do it to hold myself accountable. For excerising, I make myself get out and do it first…
  • I too am mainly a walker. I was beginning to run when I injuried myself, not by running, so I am restricted to walking again and may not be given the green light on running for a long time. As long as you are moving you are doing the body good. If you like walking then continue walking and work on upping your speed.
  • You have to do what works for your body. For me eating a big breakfast does not work. I feel bloated and out of it all day. I do better with a small breakfast and then splitting the rest of my calories between lunch and dinner with it depending on the day which one is bigger. I have also found that if I eat after 8pm I…
  • You are awesome! Thank you for sharing.
  • I have an an active social life, in addition to a busy day to day life, and have no plans on cutting it back. What I do is make a plan on how I am going to handle things such as: if I am going to drink what and how much, if we are going out for dinner what foods I am willing to eat for that meal, etc. Does this means that…
  • I use a couple of apps to help me keep track of my speed walking, I alternate between them, and am working on getting my average walking speed to over 4mph eventually to over 5mph. As far as stepping on the scale I do better if I weight only once a month. I found that if I weight too often I become obsessed with the number…
  • I walk 6-7 days a week. I tend to go first thing every morning as part of my routine. I have a trail nearby that I really like that is 4 miles long and I go as far as I can in one hour and during the coldest part of winter I have a treadmill. A year ago I was only getting about 1.5- 2 miles and now I am right at 4 miles.…
  • I have to watch the amount of carbs I eat not because of the calories but if I eat much of them I get on a hunger cycle, found this by trial and error. When I started making the change I switched to whole wheat which was a big help because it filled me up and held me better. I do eat some bread and pasta but I make sure…
  • I found that everytime I created a "bad" food I lose my control when I eat it. So this time I decided that there are no "bad" foods and that if I really want something that I have to measure out a portion. make sure that I slowly enjoy it, and if necessary throw the rest away. After throwing away food after I had what…
  • At times my head still sees me not only at my heaviest but heavier. At other times it sees me as a heavy but not the fattest person around. At still other times I actually feel cute and sassy. Part of it is what tape is playing in my head and as well as the clothes I am wearing. I know this sounds vain but so be it, I have…
  • I have set up habits. excerising, portion control, and others, to keep me going when my motivation is gone. I have a saying I found: "Motivation gets you started. Habit keeps you going." So for me it has been deciding that I want and need healthy habits to keep me from going back to my unhealthy habits.
  • Whether or not you have loose skin will depend on many things including genetics. I do have loose skin but am noticing that the body is slowly absorbing this extra skin. Will is absorb it all, probably not especially at my age, but I am not going to worry about it at this point I am busy living life.
  • I have to count calories because in the end that is what all diets do in what ever form they want to do it. To lose weight in a healthy manner one must eat fewer calories that one uses while making sure that one is eating a balanced diet to keep the body healthy. The hard part is eating fewer calories while making sure…
  • I don't talk about my weight loss to others unless asked. I found that by doing this it is my journey to better health not one that is monitored by others. Now that it is noticeable I get people commenting about my food choices like they have a say so in it, be it for good or bad. I also get that I must have had weight…
