  • The one thing I'm discovering is no matter how someone else did it....it's still a personal experience and you HAVE to figure out for yourself WHAT WORKS. There IS a "magic" formula that your body will respond to but finding it can be tough. AND...unfortunately (for me, anyways) it has been an unpleasant reality that I…
  • I'm just noticing that you started Phase 2 in early Sept. and finished late Oct. It's a 12 week program - how did you do that? I'm figuring you did workouts every day at some point...just wondering what your strategy was... Thanks. ~Marie
  • I'm sure you are changing the attitudes of alot of people. You are showing them that overweight people don't just sit on their arses. ;-) (Not that I think that - I don't.) Good for you!!! AND...I love your attitude!
  • I quit 3 years ago (was my first New Year's resolution) and don't regret it at all. I haven't missed it ANY. Sooo glad I quit. I gained a little but have almost lost it all now. I'm down to my last few pounds. It was totally worth it. I'm older and supposedly losing weight is much harder at my age. So if I can do it...you…
  • You're liable to see alot of junk food in my food diary. It I eat it...I log it...usually. What you eat is NONE of my business. Feel free to add me.
  • I want to buy a nice pair of jeans that fit (and flatter). Not too tight. I don't like tight jeans. I like them lose, but not baggy.
  • All the Victoria's Secret models have shapeless legs...ugh. I had legs like that growing up and most of my life...HATE skinny, shapeless legs. I'd rather be in the Dove group. I agree with all the others...the Venus girls look the best.
  • About .2 of a mile when I first started. Now, can run a little over 3 miles.
  • Oh....I forgot to say...I quit "cold turkey". I set short-term goals to ride out the 2-minute waves of withdrawal cravings each time they hit. And I refused to allow myself to "think" about it being better or nicer to have a cigarette. I didn't allow myself to have ANY negative thinking about what I was doing. Each day got…

  • I was a pack-a-day smoker for 35 yrs. I first cut down on the amount of cigs I smoked within a day's time, then set a quit date. I have been smoke-free for 3 yrs this coming New Year's. One thing that helped...I got online and read tips from others who had successfully quit and applied as much of that information as I…

  • I do IF and have gotten good results so far. It's a good tool for weight loss. Being short and trying to eat at a deficit is hard to do when your daily calories are already low. Feel free to add me.
  • Hello. I'm 4'11" and weigh 109ish. I'm 52 and going thru menopause so losing isn't easy for me. However, I am slowly making progress. Something that has been KEY for me has been realizing & accepting when I am actually hungry and when I just have an appetite. My diary is open to friends - feel free to add me. Good luck to…
  • Weigh on one foot. That should solve the problem. ;-)
  • I've had skinny legs all my life until I started running a couple of years ago. They are still slim...but noticeably more muscle. Evidently, I don't "gain" in my legs.
  • I'm 4'11" and have my calories set to 1000 per day. I had mine set to 1300 for months. No results. Now, I am slowly getting results. I don't have much more to lose and getting the scale to move is nearly impossible now. I'm not sure this is what you need to do, but at least you know someone is doing it and getting results.…
  • I'm 4'11" and my goal weight is around 100 lbs. If I get to 104 and am satisfied with how I look/feel then I may change my goal. I've been at that weight not long ago. However, I wasn't working out (skinny fat). I currently weigh 109 and still have a big ring of pudge around my middle (mostly noticeable when I'm sitting -…
  • I will definitely feel bloated (and be bloated) when I haven't had enough water. AND...once I am bloated, if I drink enough water, it will flush it all out. It's one of the best remedies for bloating. Also, like someone else already said, alot of times you'll feel hungry when in reality you're often dehydrated. Water DOES…
  • Mmmm. I LOVE peanut butter pie, but decided it was off-limits because of the carbs & calories. Guess not. Thanks for sharing.
  • For me, not enough water will cause me to bloat (or retain water). I'm finding I need 10-12 cups of water per day to avoid bloat.
  • The most accurate I found was the Mifflin St. Jeor calculator. Google it. None others came close to this one's accuracy. I'm seeing results now.
  • Mine, (Mow ree) is just a silly way of saying Marie. ; )
  • My motto is, "giving it my best shot". I try to do that with my running time/distance, my weight training routine, or appetite control. I set a goal and try to do my best. I want the best from myself...and don't want to be cheated. My best is NOT the same every day. I'm terrible at eating clean, but I do my best at trying…
  • How long is each phase?
  • I'm 52 and trying to lose the weight I gained after I quit smoking. Feel free to add me. I'm on here every day & diary is open to friends.
  • You look awesome. I like the veins. The most appealing thing about weight training to me is how much younger one looks. I would like to be at your level.
  • I appreciate your thoughts. Thank you. Maybe I'm feeling the affect of ditching sodas, which was my only source of caffeine. That, coupled with declining metabolism due to getting older. Again, thanks. Always good to have an experienced point of view.
  • I smoked for 35 years. Been quit 2 and 1/2 years. Don't regret quitting. Feel better & can do things I couldn't do before. The KEY for my success was not allowing any negative thoughts about quitting to come to mind. As soon as that would try to start happening, I'd banish the thought before giving myself time to dwell on…
  • I have mine set for 1400 calories, but only reach that amount a couple times per week. I, too, will not lose weight unless I exercise (both cardio & weights). I'm 4'11" and weigh 114. I recently got new scales that are more accurate so my ticker doesn't show my weight loss.
  • When I first joined MFP in May, I lost 4 lbs. the first week. Since then, not much change. I have lost and gained the same pound for three weeks now. LOL! BUT I have also lost a total of two and a half inches from my waist (woo hoo) which is exactly where I want to lose. So....if I were relying on the scale, I would have…
