Just take measurements of yourself and ignore the scale. Look for body fat % calculators. Good luck!

I'm always on the lookout for new friends to support and to be supported by. Feel free to add me!

i would recommend giving up the scale (as a form of progress indication) and take measurements & photos instead, especially if you're doing strength exercises.

My diary is wide open to friends - anyone feel free to add me!

1) I ready a study that shows its quite common for people to be hungry after breakfast. One person recommended "delaying" all meals, and start with lunch, dinner & something later. That was a body building expert and obviously this goes against everything we've ever been told about breakfast and I would suggest not…

Count me in. I think push ups are one of the best and most versatile exercises out there. Will be checking this out tonight.

Dude. Love your intensity and I also share your view on M&Ms. You know what grinds my gears? The vending machine at work only has peanut M&Ms. WTF?
-
My diary is also wide open to friends, so add me! I try to keep a realistic diet that allows me to eat like a normal person and not a rabbit!

Feel free to add me as a friend. I'm always looking for support & motivation and I try to give it right back in return.

I second this.

This is consistent with what I have been reading too. 1 to 1.5 grams of protein for each pound of body weight. I read a study once that said, and I'm paraphrasing here, that over a certain amount the effects/benefits of the protein level out, i.e. no additional effect. But I'm no expert, so take it with a grain of salt.

I can highly recommend the below work out program and everything else for that matter on this site. http://www.nerdfitness.com/blog/2009/12/09/beginner-body-weight-workout-burn-fat-build-muscle/

There are lots of great body weight exercises you can do at home. They include things like pushups, situps, dips and heaps more. Best thing is they can all be modified to make them easier & harder depending on your starting point. Check out this workout. http://www.nerdfitness.com/blog/2012/08/23/batman-bodyweight-workout/

I agree with everyone who says "don't". Also spare her all the details on what your doing and your accomplishments. Let your results speak for themselves, and eventually she'll come around. When that happens, don't bombard her with all this fitness & diet info. Support her & answer her questions. Some things that worked on…

A friend of my wife wears 2 sports bras when she runs.

Weigh yourself weekly - weight fluctuates. Better still take measurements instead if you're working out. Look for foods high in protein if you can, but generally go with fruits, veg & meat - keep it simple. Plan your week ahead of time so you always have the food you need with you. Also drink lots of water. Good luck!

I make sure to eat at regular restaurants and not at fast food places. I also make sure I do a lot of walking and drink heaps of water. You can make healthy choices, or even then just scale down if you want to go all out. Here are my suggestions: 1) Fast food for 2 - get a combo and a second burger - share the fries & coke…

I'd say anything you can do to eat more protein whilst staying in control of sugar, fats, carbs & calories is a good thing, even if you're not lifting. The fact is you're still using muscles to exercise and protein will help you out there too. I keep some handy as they can make a great snack when you're sick of having…

I recommend taking measurements of yourself rather than focusing on weight alone. If you're working out hard, you'll be building muscle which will look on the scales like you're not losing [much] weight, when in truth you're burning fat and adding muscle.

I was thinking sub zero from mortal kombat if I can hit the gym a bit more!

Pun intended?

Thanks for the advice mate. I've been experiencing similar (although less intense) pain on and off for the last couple of months. I'm totally going to try this going forward.

I'm always looking for new friends to support. Anyone feel free to add me. Send me a message too if you like! :)

I agree 100% with the strategies Casper0 and Stormieweather mention. A little planning & understanding is basically all you need!
-
I can relate to this. My wife is sick of hearing about the exercises I do and the things I read about. She's supportive but is generally sick of hearing about it. I've found getting heaps of friends on here is a great way to get that encouragement you need. As for not being able to see things in the mirror. I say ditch the…

For those wanting the full explanation of pirates & global warming http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flying_Spaghetti_Monster#Pirates_and_global_warming I like that they cite Somalia as proof that pirates fight global warming.

If I was to list the 10 things I have learned, it would look a lot like this list. Especially burn more than you eat, and do something you like. Great post. Everyone on MFP should read this post.
