If you wanted to be cautious, you could always switch to hemp hearts for the time being. There's no THC in them so I doubt they'd show on a drug test and they have similar benefits to chia.

Have you ever seen that show Jamie Oliver did where he watched what kids ate in cafeterias and what they threw out? It was really interesting! I remember when I was younger (but old enough to make my own food at home) I'd eat a giant plate of pizza bites for lunch everyday. Nothing else! There's also an interesting blog…

I've heard parm or other hard cheeses can be lower in calories or fat or something than soft cheeses. I have no idea if that's true. I used to be quite a cheese connoisseur but ended up gaining about 10-15 pounds over a two months due to cheese. I did not practice moderation.

I feel sorry for whatever person ended up with that job. I'm guessing it's some unpaid student intern who they kill once the internship is over so they would never be able to reveal the GIANT SECRET that would rock the free weight loss site industry.

I agree with this! I used to eat candy like sour patch kids/sour keys ALL the time. I stopped cold turkey didn't eat them for a few years and now I can enjoy a few once and awhile and not end up wanting to eat entire bags or eat them every day. In fact, I can only eat a few without getting overwhelmed by them. I don't…

Ugh, I never bothered to compare like that. I don't eat a lot of packaged stuff but I never really thought to check. I usually over estimate how much i eat or weigh it exactly and there's always some extra room in my calorie macro so I'm probably fine but still. It's nice to be accurate! That being said I don't believe…

I love and hate them so much.

I can honestly say I have never seen anyone eating Starbucks and chips for a meal in order to stay under 1000 calories. I find people here more informed and eat more consciously than most of the population. Also, I wouldn't classify being bald as a bad disease. How would Jean-Luc Picard feel about that??

Sounds nice! Wish I had one around here!

Yeah, I trust those companies about as far as I could throw them. Quality is not something you're going to get when trying to create a meal for 4 bucks and can store in the freezer for months.

This is a little out of date but interesting to see. Kraft also used to be part of the same company as Philip Morris (tobacco). They split in 2007 but it's still interesting (to me, at least). http://www.occupymonsanto360.org/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/who-owns-what-infographic-food-companies.jpg (the pic is BIG so I won't…

Happy Planet makes a nice line of soups that are free of chemicals and preservatives. They have a short shelf life but are good in a pinch instead of the microwaveable frozen prepackaged stuff. http://soups.happyplanet.com/soups/?soup=8#

Good for you!!

I think there are foods that can be enjoyed in moderation and foods that we should just avoid completely. I think only you can tell if Subway is something that you can discipline yourself around to enjoy on occasion or whether you need to stop eating it and save yourself the battle and grief. I have been in a similar…

I definitely find that if I have a bad day or a couple of bad days, if comes back to haunt me. I try to take it easy (a relaxing walk instead of gym) and try to stick to my healthy foods instead of giving into the 'more more' junk cravings.

With skin. I know it's common without but it seems weird to me.

I usually plan what I'm going to make in advance so if I trying something new or adjusting amounts, I'll log those first. Otherwise I log while or after I eat. Sometimes I can't finish what I've made so I want to make sure what I log is actually what I eat. I try to do it right away though because sometimes I forget if I…

Good place to get bulk. They let me use my own containers and reusable bags for bulk stuff which is nice. I also like to get dried mushrooms there because they always seem to have a nice selection (I love lobster mushrooms but they're hard to find around me). I also sometimes get edible flowers to pretty up my dishes. I…

I use a fair trade coffee I got from 10 Thousand Villages. It's a dark roast that I grind myself and it taste awesome. I make it in a french press. I've never used those Tassimo/Kreuig/etc. makers although I know I few people who like them. Pressing the grinds down is so comforting to me, haha. Sometimes I like it black…

Loaded nachos. Every meal, every day.

I stopped buying pita bread because I'd end up eating an entire bag whenever I'd get stressed out.

Make your own popsicles from pure juice diluted with water. Throw small berries or pieces of fruit in it. It helped me get through the times where you're studying and just want to eat eat eat. You can also use unsweetened ice tea if you want to avoid juice.

I wonder if you're craving it because your body needs/wants more calories?

No one is advocating for someone's diet to be crap food all the time. They're arguing with the premise that losing weight is a super complicated process. If the conservation was "how to lose weight and never feel hungry" or "how to reduce the amount of calories you eat but not lose any nutrients" or something, this post…

getting the popcorn...this is going to be a long topic.

lol, I edited it a little more once I realized this was the same person who *****ed about coconut oil being processed. Too sanctimonious for me. Stuff like that is how my eating disorder developed.

I agree to a point. I don't disagree with what you said (in terms of it being a healthier diet to eat whole foods) however, I think for a lot of people here, they're already making a big lifestyle change by being aware of what they eat/starting to read labels/regulating how much they eat. Lots of people have said the same…
