I do this as well! I'd prefer take a little extra time to weigh things and include recipes in my bank in MFP so I can be sure of how many calories i'm eating :) If i have take-away, I always look up the calories beforehand and plan my meals. And if I go to a restaurant, I try to figure out as close as possible afterwards.…

it's less than 2 slices of bread, and as I said it's just a treat! Made it as low-fat and low-cal as I could see fit without altering the recipe too much.

Too much salt can be dangerous, particularly without adequate water intake (can cause hypernatraemia). However even with water intake, too much salt over a prolonged period of time can cause hypertension (high blood pressure), which increases the risk of heart attack, stroke, peripheral vascular disease, kidney damage, and…

I agree with a lot of people here! I am relatively new to MFP, but I am looking at it as a healthy lifestyle change, rather than a diet. There are foods that are high-cal and not very healthy that I really enjoy, and if I try to cut them out completely, I'm just going to end up wanting them more and failing harder! I think…

I think it advises you on here to put the calories the machine says if you can! If you're not using gym equipment then MFP can give good estimations (e.g. jogging in the street, exercising at home, etc.) but if you're using equipment that show calories burned (or a HRM) then put in the numbers they give you as it's more…

Fully agree! A 1.3 mile jog is definitely not pathetic, and walking is such a great place to start. I started walking about the same twice a day and by the end of that week I definitely noticed a difference! I also find it calming and find that I am less stressed if I go for a walk each day. I don't like going a day…

Woo did 5 sets of 10! Found the first set hard but pushed myself, definitely gets up a sweat :P Good luck guys!!!

Good post! However - about the gluten. Gluten does NOT destroy villi in the intestine in the average person, who is not sensitive/intolerant of it. In people with Coeliac disease, or a degree of gluten intolerance, gluten can affect the villi in the intestine and alter absorption. This represents up to a maximum of around…

Also a bit late to join but it sounds great and I have my weigh in from last week anyhow :) Starting weight (July 16): 147.7 1st week weight (July 23): 143.5 (4.2 pounds down so far) 2nd week weight (July 30): 3rd week weight (August 6): 4th week weight (August 13): 5th week weight (August 20): 6th week weight (August 27):

In almost 1/5 people the sciatic nerve pierces through the piriformis. If this isn't the case, then the muscle can still irritate the nerve which will travel beneath the muscle. This is what causes piriformis syndrome! First line treatment is a stretching and exercise program. However if this doesn't work, sometimes…

Woo did it! Did 150 in a row :) Was a struggle (especially the last 30) but made it!

I made turkey burgers with turkey mince, diced onion, chopped parsley, and some seasonings. Patties formed nicely and easily and didn't need egg or crumbs!

Generally easy to substitute! I cook almost exclusively gluten free (my boyfriend is a Coeliac) - replace normal flour with gluten free flour (can buy easily from a supermarket)! All proteins are fine. Replace bread with gluten free bread (usually better toasted). It really only gets difficult with eating out! And I have a…

Double chocolate chip cookies! I found a recipe where each cookie is only 49 calories. Cookies may be small but they are so filling and the flavour is great! Posted in my blog :) http://www.myfitnesspal.com/blog/mulcahya

To lose weight, it's as simple as calories in vs. calories out. So yes, you can lose weight eating rubbish as long as you exercise it off. However if you are eating high fat, high sugary foods, you'll stay flabby. You also will increase your risk (dramatically) of heart attack, stroke, diabetes, etc. And it's so much…

Similar problem! I usually try to reserve a lot of calories for night-time, as I prefer to eat at night rather than during the day (or rather, I'm not as good at resisting cravings at night!). I recently found a recipe for double chocolate cookies which are 51 cals per cookie. They are small cookies (a few bites) but…

I don't really think it's my place to judge whether you have a good boyfriend or not. And I know that personally if my boyfriend is eating crap, sometimes I just eat crap too cos it's easy. Perhaps don't make it out like you're full-on dieting, just that you want to eat a bit better/a bit healthier. It's probably a better…

I watched that movie yesterday, love the quote :) Good luck with your goals!

Well done! That's such an inspiration. Can see such a difference!

As I'm sure you are aware, asthma is an obstructive lung problem. When you have an asthma attack, it's hard to breathe because the airways become obstructed as the bronchi dilate (tubes get smaller). When this isn't occurring, the lungs can be fine! As you probably also know, there are varying degrees of severity of…

I had a similar problem but not sure if it was because of the OCP or because I was just getting comfortable/lazy! However as a medical student, I looked into it myself. OCP's can cause some fluid retention. However, there is no evidence to show that they cause weight gain! It is a common misconception and stops lots of…

Thanks Also, if I eat under the 1200 Cal will this lower my weight loss? Because obviously eating less means less caloric intake but may change my metabolism. And should I measure myself weekly? Last time I was a bit too keen and measuring every 2 days (why I didn't see any results!).
