  • I thought I'd bump this because I just happened to stop by and it is still a great post by @DietPrada . :) Reading through the comments was a stroll down memory lane. Wonder where they are now. <3
  • Low carb (about 100/day) worked for me for weight loss and that is what I choose to maintain. I reach "low carb" by not eating (excessively and/or frequently) all the foods that I over ate as I became over weight. For me that would be cakes, cookies, pies, ice cream, fritos, doritos, cheetos. You get the idea. I never over…
  • Since the Nature's Way website for this vitamin states "Should only be used under medical or dietetic supervision", I will suggest you discuss your questions with the medical professionals who prescribed/suggested the vitamins. On the other hand though this is not medical advice...MCT Oil is by no means a requirement for a…
  • I cringe when I see folks who are on heart meds seeking on-line advice or even suggestions regarding supplements (or sodium intake but I wont "go there".... at this time). @KeithBarrows you mentioned above you have been diagnosed with high blood pressure and were immediately placed on medication. That said, the person you…
  • Seems that is cold brew and makes 40 ounces (per the recipe link) but it truly might be disaster pants if someone drank the full recipe before acclimating to MCT oil. :# I agree the recipe is horrid for many reasons. LOL. Wouldn't putting it in the fridge solidify the butter and coconut milk? :o Here's one that might be a…
  • Agree with questioning the bold and was hoping the author may have omitted the word "loss" meaning "target weight loss of 100 pounds". To go from 142 pounds on September 7 to 100 pounds at anytime in November 2021would be a crazy fast weight loss. I agree with others that won't happen...in any healthy fashion.
  • It was 2013 and I purchased the least expensive scale at Walmart the day I was there. It was a Taylor brand. Digital, weighing in full pounds only and did nothing else. I watched it go from 203 pounds down to 140 over the 1 year period.
  • If your goal is weight loss, calories matter. In my opinion, of course. At least calories seem/ed to matter greatly for me in weight loss and maintenance. At age 58-59 as a basically sedentary female, my weight loss calories were only about 1400 down to 1200 as I lost weight. Today, 7 to 8 years later, maintenance calories…
  • Every (that I recall) bacon package I've ever looked at specifies "cooked" on the packaging nutrition label. I just looked at a package in the freezer and it specifies "skillet cooked". That brings up the point that all of this info and tracking is a "best guess" sort of thing. Some people cook their bacon limp and other…
  • www.atkins.com has some free meal plans and more paid (I think). It's a place to start.
  • What is your goal?
  • I use Samsung Health. My step count shows up on the diary page in the exercise section.
  • That's a great point! I'm left handed and scroll with my left hand so sometimes accidently hit "insightful" or "inspiring".
  • Here's a nutrition label from Utz Pork Rinds. Note that beside the 8 grams of protein it indicates "not a significant source of protein". Every pork rind bag I've ever seen has that statement somewhere on the bag. There's a plethora of info on the internet explaining how something can have protein but not be a "significant…
  • Aren't you in the Virta program @lorib642 ? Seems like a good question for them. You mentioned in your other thread you thought it might be caused by the MgCl recommended by Virta. MgCl is magnesium chloride? Magnesium -some types- is a common cause of gastrointestinal issues. Your pic of the "starter kit" on the other…
  • We all have different experiences and mine is as follows: I lost my excess pounds in 2013-2014 averaging 128 total carbs per day. At the time I knew nothing of total carbs, net carbs, keto, etc yet I lost 63 pounds in 53 weeks. I just ate less than I would like to eat and eating very limited amounts of things like cheetos,…
  • @Nony_Mouse if you haven't already, you might want to try Black Soybeans. Use them in about any recipe you'd use legumes. 1/2 cup has 11 grams of protein and 1 net carb with 8 total and 7 fiber. Eden brand (canned) is the only brand I'm familiar with in the USA.
  • I'd report my BP through MYCHART. My doc monitored it and systematically reduced it. I think I started on 20 mg of lisinopril with hctz. The hctz was dropped then the mg of lisinopril was reduced. I never really felt any ill effects when BP was high but when it became low before meds were adjusted or stopped, I'd get light…
  • Weight loss and regular brisk walking or cardio resulted me getting off BP meds back in 2014. My husband has never been over weight but had high bp and tried a few different bp meds. He started walking a couple miles a day for health and no longer takes bp meds. His bp is fine and has been the last 5 or 6 years. Maybe…
  • Welcome! I lost all my excess weight averaging 128 total carbs per day. Weigh loss for me is about proper calorie intake as opposed to macro allocation. I will say though, the reason my carb intake tends to fit into the "low carb" arena is because of my focus on limiting what I consider low nutrient foods-tasty-but low in…
  • There's no need to buy anything. I don't know if "they" even sell anything except a concept and Buettner's books. LOL. Well, I guess they have meal planners and other type things but no....I wouldn't rush out to purchase anything. 98% of my time in the library is spent in the cooking and health section and most decent…
  • Thanks for pointing out the article " Is Sunscreen the New Margarine" within the other article. I hadn't read it and tend to concur with much of it. While sunscreen should not be ignored, there is benefit to sunshine and value to a shirt and brimmed hat ;). With a strong dose of common sense.
  • Can also use the @ key with no spaces and the person's name @rwecker5782
  • Just click on the word "Quote" which is located in the frame/box/reply of the text/post you wish to quote.
  • Oh, how funny!! I just now typed "moai" into a google search to make sure I spelled it correctly and and this article/ad popped up. Maybe I have have also been influenced by the fact I am 66, retired and look at life a little differently post heart attack (2018)....…
  • I'm a fan. I find it pretty hard to dispute the longevity of those in The Blue Zones and feel it is clear that it is not just one facet (diet) of their life (style) but rather at least 9 facets that contribute to their longevity. It is, in fact...a lifestyle. I likely 1st learned of The Blue Zones reading in the main…
  • 1.5 - 2.2 grams per pound? Or per kg?
  • Dr. David Sinclair (PhD) shares interesting info regarding mTor, longevity, metformin, etc...
  • Have you talked to your nurse and your neurologist about any of this? You might want to discuss this with the medical professionals you are currently seeing.
