Hide your sugar column! Seriously. It's just a carb, and you are already tracking carbs, right?

I think that MOST diets fail, and people end up gaining the weight back. Be it calorie counting, Atkins, Weight Watchers or even Paleo... The think about Paleo is that they like to say you can eat whatever you want and NOT count calories. Simply eating all that meat and fat will satiate you. And for some people, that might…

So... you stick your feet in a salt solution. They pass an electric current through it. The electrodes rust, turning the water brown. While you are sitting there with your feet in a bath of now rusty water. How could that POSSIBLY have anything to do with weight loss? Or detoxing , for that matter? Meh - it won't kill you,…

I wear jeans, sneakers and a casual shirt for work. My socks and shoes come off the minute I get in the door. The rest stays on in the winter, although sometimes I may put on jammie bottoms. In the summer, I swap the jeans for shorts when I get home. As to snow blowing... what is snow?

Me too! I also judge homebrew competitions.

Those types of scale are not very accurate, so take that reading with a pinch of salt. 147 lbs with 42% body fat would mean you have 62 lb of fat, and a lean body mass of about 86 lb. Unless you are very short, that doesn't sound quite right. (Mean LBM for a 5'6" woman is about 104 lb). Regardless, to lose weight, you need…

You should feel ashamed of yourself! Next time, drink a GOOD beer and all will be well! @ OP: First, love your avatar! Second, yes, it can definitely be done. I cut back when I lost weight (40 lb) and have maintained now for a year and a half while still drinking. It is important to remember that this is about the long…

Assuming you have weights to go on it too, it should be fine! If you do a "heavy lifting" program like Strong Lifts, Starting Strength or NROLFW then you might need to upgrade to an olympic bar (45 lbs) at some point, as you'll be shifting a lot of weight. But that should get you started. Do you have a bench and a stand of…

What they all said. But listen to your body, and do allow yourself a day off if you feel like you need it.

It depends. What are your primary goals? If you want to do a real strength training program, then do the weights first (and some people would nix the cardio totally in that case). If you just want to lose weight and do some resistance training to maintain lean body mass, then either way would work. If you are training for…

Yup. This.

Do it now! It helps you to retain your lean body mass (i.e muscle) so you'll be "toned" when you hit goal. Don't worry, if you are eating at a deficit, you won't get bulky!

Ooops! I missed out all the UN's from my post! Good catch! Going to see if I can edit it...

Well, I don't know if your weight gain has been consistent - the 100 cals per day is just an average. You might have put on most of that at Christmas, for example. That's just what it averages out to over the year. I'd suggest logging as accurately as possible for a while to see what you are truly eating and burning now,…

Strictly speaking, a trans fatty acid IS an UNsaturated fatty acid. However, it has a different shape to the "good" ones, which are actually cis-UNsaturated fatty acids. trans-UNsaturated fatty acid = straight cis-UNsaturated fatty acid = crooked To make a trans-fat, hydrogen is added to a cis-fat, reducing the double…

3.4 lb/4 years = 0.85 lb/year = 0.016 lb/week 0.016 * 3,500 = 57 extra calories per week from eating French Fries. That's less than 10 cal per day. And about 3 cals per day for mashed potatoes. Maybe it's not the potatoes per se, but rather the deep frying or added butter? Gotta have butter on mashed spuds! I try to limit…

Yes, I did have the collars on that time. Lesson learned though.

+ 1 to all of the above!

No! I probably would have if there was no-one there, but at the time shouting for help seemed the best option

I was benching at home in my garage with a slightly sore elbow. My rack has safeties that come out to cover my head, but not as far as my chest. I failed to push up on one rep as I felt my elbow go and ended up with the bar on my chest, not being able to move it, even onto the safeties. I had to holler until my son heard…

Even if that 10 lb is all muscle (which I doubt), you still had to be in a surplus to put it on. You can't gain weight in a deficit, or even at maintenance (by definition). 10 lb over a year is about .2 lb per week; which corresponds to an overage from maintenance of about 670 calories per week, or <100 calories per day.…

A pound of muscle weighs 1 lb. Same as 1 lb of fat. BUT muscle is denser, so takes up a smaller volume. That said, eating at a deficit, even while weight training, means you will NOT gain (significant) muscle mass. It just ain't going to happen. You will get stronger and maintain your muscle while losing FAT by eating at a…

How did he even know they were gay? And Maximus - what about bisexuals? Seems to me we are going to need a lot of locker rooms! ETA: straight male; no problems with sharing a locker room
-
How tall are you? I'm 5"11 and hover around 170 at maintenance. If you are anywhere near my height, then maybe you are close to where you need to be? Another way of putting that, is where did your goal of 155 come from? Regardless - if you want visible abs, that is primarily a matter of body fat %. Do you know what you %…

With 15 kg dumbbells, you are not going to be able to do a full body work out with squats, deadlifts etc. At least, not for very long. My gym only had dumbbells, and I started with All Pro's Simple Beginners Routine (SBR) but I quickly maxed out on some of the lifts, even with 75 lb dumbbells. But something like that may…

How long has your weight loss actually stalled for? Unfortunately, the process is not as linear as many of us would like and there will be days or weeks when loss slows or stops naturally, then picks up again. Just double check your calories as cwolfman suggested, and keep on. The fat will come off.

Same starting material, but the azodicarbonamide is converted to one thing in yoga mats and other plastics, while it gets converted to something else during the baking process. I'm sure we don't need it in bread (it's used to bleach the flour) (wonder what they use in Europe instead???). But don't get panicked just because…

It's a crap study. See my post above.

OP cnp'd from an Isagenix website. That's at least 4 threads this morning with the exact same MO. SPAM!

Do you work for them?
