Hello everyone! My name is Andrea. I am thirty-six, which seems to be on the older side around here. I have lost some weight, but still have quite a bit to lose. I have polycystic kidne disease (PKD). I'm hoping to get the excess weight off before I require dialysis. I won't be posting pics of my stomach because as I lose…

Ekorun ~ Thanks for mentioning how long the Fitbit One stays charged. I had wondered about that. The fact that it is less obvious than the armband is a really big plus in my mind.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I'm going to review the devices again and make my purchase this week.

Great idea! Today I did some heavy cleaning that had to count as cardio, lol! I also did thirty minutes of yoga and walked for 30 minutes. Andrea

I have also been considering the Bodymedia armband. I'm just not sure if I would like wearing it on my arm all the time.

It brings the post back to the top of the list. Hope that helps!

I'm glad I found this group. I have made the decision to make some major lifestyle changes. I'm excited to begin my adventures in health. I look forward to getting to know all of you. Andrea

I would be interested as well.

I think I will set up the juices as recipes. Thanks for the idea. I get plenty of fiber, so losing it in my breakfast juice isn't a concern for me. The reason why I juice in the morning is to get more veggies in to start my day than I could eat.

Welcome! I have limited my animal protein for years. I recently made the decision to go veggie. I'll send you a friend request so we can stay in touch.

Deciding that you are ready to make lifestyle changes will help you succeed. Good luck in your journey. :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou:

Thanks for sharing your opinions. I would love to know what you think about how well it integrates with MFP since this is going to be my primary community support. I read that with the FitBit you still record non-step based exercise here on MFP. Do you have to do the same with the BodyMedia unit?

I'm currently trying to figure out which one I want to purchase. There seems to be pros and cons for each one.

My doctor told me that I needed to lose a massive amount of weight before I can even begin the transplant qualification process. It was a real eye opener. I hope not to be on dialysis any longer than I have to be. I'm determined to lose this weight before my kidneys fail and start dialysis.

I'm working on a 100+ pound loss.

I'm able to see your posts as well. Welcome. I'm even newer than you :)

By this time next year, I would like to have lost enough weight that I will be able to begin transplant qualification as soon as necessary. Hopefully my kidneys will cooperate and remain functioning until I have lost more weight. I would like to be able to start the transplant qualification process when I begin dialysis.
