  • My wedding photos. I got married in June last year and when the photos came back I cried. Everyone was ruined because I looked 3 months pregnant in them. And I wasn't. The combination of that and having to remove clothing from my closet that had gotten too tight for the second time in three months just made me say "enough…
  • I eat processed foods. I do all things in moderation. I eat cupcakes. I eat crackers. I eat chips. The difference for me today from a year ago is that I eat them rarely and the rest of the time eat pretty decently. But I do eat packaged easy to cook foods at night like pasta mixes, etc. I just make sure I'm eating tons of…
  • I would document the strength training as it relates to your personal goals of doing strength training so many days a week, etc. But I wouldn't worry abouttracking calorie burn for this. There probably is calorie burn going on, but that's not your true goal with strength training so I'd just document it to show your…
  • ^^^ This. Don't sweat a few days of not feeling well even if you eat a little bit of comfort food to get you through it. I'll bet you didn't gain all the weight you want to lose in three or four days. You aren't going to gain that much if any in a few days of not working out, eating perfectly, ect.
  • We've all done it. Bought garbage food with the best of intentions to ration it, or eat one portion and share the rest, or whatever. And then eaten the whole dang thing ourselves. Today's a new day. Drink a glass of water and move on. By the way your profile photo is amazing!
  • I logged in during weight loss mode every day because how else could I log what I was eating? I didn't always chat with folks every day. Sometimes just came on long enough to log my food, or document my weigh in, or whatever. It's not a huge time commitment. But, to each his own.
  • Welcome to the happy world of EDNOS. I would strongly suggest you speak to a dietician and a therapist who specializes in eating disorders. You sound exactly like me earlier this year. I'm still struggling but getting stronger and less fearful of eating every day. But it's a process. Some days I win. Some days I lose. I'm…
  • Oh yeah, and this ^^^^ too. If your period has gone bye-bye due to anything but hormone related birth control, your body fat is too low. If this is the case, you have bigger problems I suspect....
  • Weighing in daily will make you crazy. Pick one day a week you will weigh in. Same time, every time. If the scale is up when you logically know it can't be up, then ignore the number. If you absolutely cannot ingnore the number, maybe weigh in for a day or two after to comfort yourself that the phony weight is gone. Then…
  • I have not ruled out surgery myself, although right now I'm just trying to focus my thoughts on repairing my body image issues. I suspect when I get all that crap sorted out, surgery will no longer be necessary.
  • Reality for me is, when I gained the weight, the girls got bigger. When I lost it, the girls got smaller. But I'd rather be rockin' a size 2 or 4 jeans and be a memeber of the IBTC than be back in a size 12 ever again. Small ta-ta's are what Victoria's Secret push up bras were made for.
  • If you do not have blood sugar issues, I wouldn't sweat going over on sugars because I agree with many other posters on MFP, the standard setting is very low. If you're concerned your sugars are too high due to too much fruit, start replacing a fruit with a non sugary veggie now and again.
  • My lifestyle change amounted to this. I ate less. And sometimes I moved more AND ate less. And sometimes I ate more so I made sure to move even more. That's it. No secret. You must eat less, move more, or both. I don't believe in deprivation "diets". They are not, in my opinion, sustainable and they just encourage binge…
  • If Bob Harper's method works for you and is realistically sustainable for life, then go for it. But the basic rules of weight loss will always apply. You must either eat less, move more, or preferably, both. That is all. Now, how you go about eating less (more fiber, fewer carbs, increased protein, no sugar after 5:00 or…
  • MFP is your safe place where you can discuss your weight loss successes, failures, and learning experiences. I've learned that the rest of the world pretty much doesn't want to hear it. People who have seen you try and fail in the past will rub your nose in those failures. People who are envious of your conviction will try…
  • The windows in my living room and den were broken out with a baseball bat at 11:30 one night after I'd gone to bed. Initially I thought they'd been shot out but witnesses saw the baseball bat weilding idiots responsible. Gun in one hand, cell phone in the other, I called 911 and waited for police. FYI. If you have a land…
  • I realize now that my body image issues were creeping onto my daughter when at ten years old she complained that her thighs were too big. And she was at a very healthy body weight and certainly didn't have big thighs. If I knew then what I know now, I would not have discussed my own body image concerns in her presence, but…
  • Pretty sure you aren't losing your mind, and pretty sure that 90% of that 8 pounds isn't real weight. Now, it does appear you have a bingeing problem. Is this ongoing or is this a one time thing? If it's a one time thing, drink a glass of water and move on. Tomorrow's a new day. If it's ongoing, you might want to consult…
  • Log everything. Then talk to me in three weeks if you're still not losing consistently... :) Seriously though, if you aren't logging diligently, how on earth do you know what you're really taking in? Because I had NO idea what a "portion" of something was until I started weighing it and logging it.
  • I've been told 1-2 pounds a week is a normal/healthy loss rate (unless you have had WLS, then you can expect more rapid weight loss). But I think I speak with many of the above posters when I say I lost more than 2 pounds per week the first couple weeks.
  • Everyone on MFP is doing things just a little differently from everyone else. You will find people on here like me who emphasized calorie restriction over exercise for various reasons. Doesn't make it right, or your way wrong. It's just what works for me (us). You just need to keep doing what you know works for you and…
  • Your mom needs to see a registered dietician or her endocrinologist to get a diet plan set up. Everyone's needs are different. IMHO,
  • What an inspiration. However you did it, keep doing it. You're awesome!
  • No. Because average chicks find hot chicks threatening so they'd avoid you. And guys wouldn't ask you out because they assume you'd never go out with someone like them and that you have guys lined up waiting to date you. Ah. The suffering of being a hot chick. But I will prevail.... LOL
  • I'm no expert but your caloric intake seems low for someone your age and level of exercise. Has this 1000-1200 calorie diet been endorsed by your doc or dietician? When my weight loss stalled I actually upped my calories a bit and it restarted. Now let me say I didn't up it with a bunch of junk food. Just more lean…
  • I don't believe in elimination diets unless there is a food you absolutely know beyond a shadow of a doubt you can't use self control when eating (like me with Skittles). Deprivation just causes binges, in my personal experience (your experience may be different). Carbs are a natural part of the food pyramid and unless you…
  • If your loss was any faster than what it's been, I'd be concerned about losing lean body mass. Your weight loss is going right according to a healthy schedule. Slow and steady wins the race where weight loss is concerned, especially since you didn't have ton to lose to begin with.
  • I am 44 and have been at goal weight since March. I'm a size 2 or a size 4, and still have belly fat/skin that just isn't going anywhere. My doc said surgery is really my only alternative. My situation isn't drastic enough to justify this. You can tighten up what's underneath, but you can't undo skin damage from pregnancy…
