Uh, I can make butter in 30 seconds in the right jar with a marble in it. And less than that in a mixer. Especially if it is cold. I would just plan on using all frozen cream in cooked goods or in things that can stand slightly heated cream.

To answer the very very original post, it is more likely all the (useless and detrimental) added fiber in the atkins and quest bars that are slowing weight loss, rather than the sugar alcohols. Not that SA can't slow your weight loss, but a lot of the bars achieve zero or low carb status by having ridiculous amounts of…

I think the objection is that that train of thought is one of the ones that tends to be more influential in breeding eating disorders in boys. It might be a motivating benefit once it happens, but it's a terrible goal for someone whose physiology is going through the awkward growth and hormonal shifts of puberty, things…

I had committed to track all my water as if it were a food item. Halfway through the month I quit tracking entirely, but I found out that when I was more mindful of my water consumption and made sure to drink more earlier in the day, I felt a lot better, ate less, slept better, and had less fluctuations on the scale. I am…

I can't wait until I lose enough weight to be able to buy off-the-shelf riding boots so I can start taking English riding lessons! Custom made riding boots in my calf size are upwards of fifteen hundred dollars...

I have had to read very closely about everything salt and electrolyte and calcium and protein related for this diet because Mr. Whimsy has kidney issues. Regular occurrence of stones, and other issues bad enough that his pilot license has been revoked because if he has an episode while flying he wouldn't be able to land.…

I think it's easy to underconsume potassium on keto because we're cutting out vegetables. I've been especially sensitive because I used to eat a ton of veg, and all my favourites have upwards of 300mg per 100g serving, and my vegetable servings are closer to 250g-750g when we're talking a whole meal. Atkins recommends…

You would have to consume more than 3/4 of a cup of straight potassium chloride very quickly in order to get to the lethal dose. Of course toxicity does start lower than that, and yes, too much will kill you, but the likelihood of actually getting there with oral supplements and food is almost impossible. To put it in food…

I'm 5'7 and very, very heavily muscled. 320-290=24 290-260=22 (this is where I am currently) 260-230=20 230-200=18 I can't remember accurately past that. I think I wore relaxed thigh men's jeans for a number of years in my teens, so further numbers don't correlate.

I think this article covers the keto basics for magnesium and potassium: Keto Flu and Sufficient Intake of Electrolytes It recommends: Potassium: Estimated Daily Minimum for potassium is 2,000 mg for healthy adults. Keto dieters need at least 3,000 mg. Adequate Intake is set around 4,700 mg a day. Magnesium: The RDA for…

Adding to the electrolytes crowd. Magnesium and Dizziness Potassium Deficiency I'm at just about the same time frame with LCHF as you, and I find that if I'm not very careful my electrolytes will tank every few days. My worst symptom is a racing heart, but I will get lightheaded/sore/tired as well. It takes three or four…

Yep, yep. I've almost completely stopped shopping at the grocery store except for staples like coffee. There's a handy little shopping center with a butcher and veg store and that's where I do 90% of my shopping, and it takes like 10 minutes!

Even when you have a perfectly ripe avocado, they can sometimes be not nice. Signs to look for when you cut it open are darkish freckling in the green flesh, any strange air pockets large or small, a fermented smell or acrid taste, and stringy, fibrous bits. Sometimes the avo gods are just not smiling upon you.

I was under the impression that you didn't need to get very dark readings on the sticks, any reading at all is good because you're making excess and more excess isn't necessarily more beneficial. I don't know though, maybe I missed something.

I am glad to hear that you are feeling better. Things were looking pretty rough there for a while.

Congratulations! I remember how awesome it was when I hit that milestone! Enjoy that feeling!

Mr. Whimsy pranced into my studio this morning all spiffed up for work, and proudly stated that he was wearing a smaller pair of pants. He stayed just long enough for me to ooh and ah over him before strutting out. What a cutie! His successes are almost more important to me than mine. Changing to LCHF has improved…

Gary Taubes quotes a study of children who were put on a lower carb diet who self reported their sugar cravings took around a year or so to really go away, and it was like an off-switch moment, they could all point to the time when it happened. I am not sure how low their carbohydrate intake was. I am much lower carb than…

I will drink coffee for breakfast if I am not ready to eat yet. Or I will replace lunch with it if I have eaten breakfast because I'm not hungry for more food. Or sometimes I'll just have coffee for both meals if I am feeling particularly lazy. Caffeine is an appetite suppressant, and couple that with the low carb…

I used to be a juice fiend, but now I can hardly even drink fruit based herbal teas at the recommended strength because they're just so sweet. I suspect that I'd be able to actually eat fruit with no problems, and I miss it, but juice doesn't even sound good any more.

Almost all of your symptoms are things I was having before I went LCHF, and nearly all of them have significantly improved over the last six weeks. Even my rate of hair loss has dropped noticeably. The type of hair loss that you are experiencing is presenting differently than standard hereditary pattern baldness, so you're…

It's great to get the little bios and goal sets for everyone! I'm 32, 5'7, and 278lbs, down from over 320. I'm following 20 net carbs, and I don't really track calories on purpose, but I am eating between 1200 and 2400 calories a day, depending on hunger. I had precocious puberty (we're talking hair and development and…

I've read numerous sources that suggest that you throw calorie counting out the window and eat to satiety when you are first getting into ketosis. Giving your body all the extra things it needs to make the transition is just easier on your system and your sanity. Really, in the grand scheme of things, is a week of eating…

You usually get some grounds in your coffee, even if they are quite small, and they are largely fiber. The carbs are counted from a standard brewed cup of coffee, not the beans themselves. There are also oils from the beans, and some other things, but I'm not sure. It's been very difficult to get an accurate picture of…

Sounds like a good plan. You have so much time that taking two or three weeks to try out the new calorie level to see how you do might be a great idea.
-
You are cutting calories quite hard for being fairly close to maintenance. I'm sure that weight will budge quickly, it's likely just water weight and the volume of what you ate that hasn't been excreted yet. Give it a few days of your normal eating and I bet you'll be back on track.

Sweet sauces for savory dishes. Things like sriracha or Worcestershire sauce are okay because I use them in fairly small amounts or in recipes, but things like ketchup and regular barbecue sauce? I just can't even go there.
