@bburg86 - I've totally done the same thing! It's not worth it because it's not going to work. I eat carbs when I'm sick and I gained afterwards too. Hoping it'll come off and it wasn't a true weight gain. I'll be hoping for you too! :) @flumi_f - glad you're feeling better :) I'm fasting today - so far just tea for me. I…

Grilled salmon with a salad and asian pear for dessert. I live on a ship, so I don't cook my own food. They generally have a lot of stuff on the line, so I have to try to chose the healthiest option and then have the willpower to not get the unhealthy stuff. They almost always have a salad bar though which can be helpful.

Day 3 Stayed within my calorie goal - yay! Even though cake was an option for dessert at dinner, I picked up an asian pear instead :) My schedule changed so I have to move my work out time to the morning instead of the evening, starting tomorrow. Hopefully I can get myself up on time! ;)

MFP starting weight: 178 Challenge start weight: 175 Challenge goal weight: 155 Ultimate goal weight: 140 :)

Day 1 Was higher on the scale than I thought I would be, but oh well. That will be my starting weight for the challenge Day 2 Did well with eating, but had a work function and drank alcohol along with everyone so that put me over on calories. No more of those for a while though, so I won't have to deal with trying to fit…

I didn't fast yesterday due to a work function that involved good food, so I'm fasting today. So far just water. Hope everyone has a wonderful Wednesday! :D

Happy Easter everyone! Had a rough week last week and only did 1 fast. Caught the head cold that was going around and felt sick for several days so I didn't feel like fasting. Of course I tend to eat tons of bread and other carbs when I'm sick so I went over TDEE most of the days and am up on the scale this morning :( Oh…

Yay! Congratulations on retiring! :D Big accomplishment for you.

Yay! Congrats on the loss :D

I'm in! I'm so excited - I never see these types of challenges until they've already started. Yay! :D

Diet coke or Diet Dr. Pepper :)

I'm adding an extra fasting day in this week, which will be today (Sunday). We pull into port next week so I'm going to try for 3 fasts this week so I only need 1 the next week and I can go eat out while in port :) Happy Sunday everyone! :D

Yay! Thank you, Thank you, Thank you! :D

It took me a while to realize that if I use smaller plates I'll eat less - what a novel idea right? :) I've been using bowls lately for the same reason. I also found these freeze dried soybeans that I pre-portioned into serving size baggies and put them in my drawer to eat after I work out. I think it's a bit more than 100…

So I'm not able to add my name to the google document :( It's probably because I use a really old version of my browser and it just doesn't work well with this version anymore. I'm on a ship, currently deployed, so I'm not allowed to upgrade the browser. I can load the spreadsheet - I just can't type in it. Would someone…

I have about 30lbs total to lose so I don't know if I can lose 20lbs in 9 weeks, but I can sure try! :)

Finished FD#2 last night a bit over (700 instead of 500 Calories), but I'm happy with it. Awesome resistance @cal0rina! I always feel happy when I can walk away from cake too! I feel like this lifestyle is helping me gain more control over what I eat - still have some boredom and emotional eating to deal with but I feel…

I end up eating my full calorie allotment on non-fast days (sometimes a bit more) - but I end up feeling sick and feeling like I overate. That's just me tending to eat everything that's on my plate even after I know I'm full though. I think if I can get myself to not do that, I would also have a hard time getting to my…

FD#2 for me today (Friday). Woke up and immediately made some hot tea to help me get through not eating anything for breakfast :) I've been weighing myself, but don't want to record anything until I can get a more stable number. It looks like my weight is going down, but it's hard to tell when you're standing on a scale…

I've only been doing this a couple of weeks, so I'm fairly new too, but I agree that hot drinks help. Hot tea tends to help more for me than just water - may be it tricks my stomach into thinking it's getting something lol :)
-
Yay! That's so exciting! Congrats :D

@karen_fitzgibbon I think I know what you mean. After my fast last Friday I tried eating pizza on Saturday and I couldn't eat more than 2 slices (usually I could eat more than half of a pizza) - it felt heavy in my stomach. I can definitely tell it's easier to eat less on feast days too :)

Since it's Tuesday already for me, Happy Birthday @iwannabeonthebeach! Hope it's a great one! Fasting day for me. Spent half the night up, emailing back and forth with one of my "bosses," so I plan on taking a nap during my lunch break. Should be a good distraction from food  Hope everyone has a wonderful day!…

Hi Nadia! I'm new too - we can learn together :)

I was thinking of making today (Sunday) a fasting day, but then they decided to serve steak and lobster for dinner... Ate a 200 calorie lunch, but definitely ate a lot more at dinner. They also had avocados out, which I love, so I made a salad topped with avocado to go along with my steak and lobster. No regrets :) Hope…

Thanks for the welcome everyone! :D

Hi all! Just joined the group today. I've been on MFP for awhile now (on and off for 2+ years), but never tried fasting. Read more about the 5:2 diet recently and decided to give it a try. I started last Friday and today is my 3rd fast day ever. I'm stationed in Japan right now, so I imagine I'm a bit ahead of everyone. I…

Ah man, I thought this was going to be a thread about how hard it can be to accurately log your food when you can't cook for yourself and are eating what they make in the galley. That's what I struggle with right now. I don't know what this diet consists of but if its tuna and hot dogs, then I'm out. (Btw, we sometimes…

I didn't know about the "all meals" thing - that's very helpful, thank you! I tend to just put it under lunch even if I ate it for dinner the next day figuring the calories would still total the same. This keeps me from looking like I ate a ton for one meal and nothing for another, lol :)

I can't say what situation the OP is in, but for some of us it's not as easy as using a scale. I'm in the Navy, attached to a ship, out to sea for months at a time. I eat all my meals like you would in a cafeteria. I can't cook my own food and measure the ingredients. Everything I get is already mixed/prepared/cooked/etc.…
