Per cracker? yikes. Without knowing what program you follow, it's hard to give advice on this. For someone on keto, probably not. If you are following low carb to control blood sugar, probably not. If you are someone who struggles to have something like this, and limit your quantities, probably not. If your carb targets…

Some interesting fiber discussions: http://www.marksdailyapple.com/dietary-fiber-is-bad-for-sex-thats-the-only-claim-about-it-that-isnt-a-myth/#comment-1036395 http://www.reddit.com/r/keto/comments/1lolqu/end_the_fiber_fantasy_everything_you_dont_want_to/

I'm a little confused. You say that you don't want to lose weight, but you do want to lose body fat %. To reduce your bf%, you either have to lose body fat (which would decrease weight) and/or increase lean body mass. If you don't want to lose weight, is your real goal to increase lean body mass? If that's the case, you…

I was just looking at your diary. My guess is that last night's dinner was too protein heavy without fat. That meal shows 1-2-24 (C-F-P).

My husband is the same way. My blood ketone readings are always 3-4x higher than his. 0.2 is a common number for him. Jimmy Moore recently finished his year long n=1 nutritional ketosis experiment, where he measured his blood ketones both am and pm. He had a few months where blood ketones were consistently lower, with some…

You might have better luck on this topic over at the keto subreddit. I searched over there for hashimotos and found several threads that discussed. http://www.reddit.com/r/keto/search?q=Hashimotos&restrict_sr=on

Atkins is pretty similar to keto. You might wat to check out the vegetarian keto subreddit over at reddit. http://www.reddit.com/r/vegetarianketo/

Tom - Do you not like salt? I only ask because low carbers need to SUPPLEMENT sodium. Salted nuts and seeds are a great way to do this!

I came across an MFP post last week, that linked to this article / post. Within that article is a spreadsheet tool for setting calories. In Place of a Road Map: Article: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/974888-in-place-of-a-road-map-2k13 Spreadsheet:…

Can you provide some info? What is your age, gender, and height? What approach did you take for losing the 100 lbs? How long did it take? What are your current macros? What is your current calorie target? Do you typically eat under, over or at your calorie target? What is your current weight and lean body mass? How much…

djthom2 - your diary looks incredibly good. I'd be shocked if you weren't in ketosis. Are you supplementing your electrolytes? You need 3-5 g of sodium per day, plus potassium and magnesium. Low sodium can cause headaches and dizziness, so maybe that's the issue? Try a cup of broth and see if that helps. This is likely…

The Ketogenic diet for epilipsy is discussed in "The Art and Science of Low Carbohydrate Living" by Phinney and Volek in Chapter 19. I strongly recommend reviewing this chapter (really, the whole book is awesome - but for you, this chapter is especially important). There's some info on the standard Ketogenic Diet for…

Something is off for this to happen. In the US, fiber is a sub-category of carbs. There's either an error, or someone is playing games with the nutritional content (or, you've used some ingredient that follows a non US format where fiber doesn't count in the carbs).

Ketostix are measuring the density of ketones in the urine. it's really just an indicator of "yes" or "no" and not how heavily in ketosis you are. Lets just say that you have 100 ketones in 1 cup of urine, and that measures dark. If you drink more, you have 100 ketones in 2 cups of urine. That would show lighter. likewise,…

Another factor to consider is when one meal is very high in protein. My husband and I used to go to KFC and have the grilled chicken for lunch. This was dark meat with skin. Even though the rest of the day had a lot of fat, that one meal would sometimes kick my husband out of ketosis (we were testing with blood ketone…

Wow! What a great start! I think a lot of us see those awesome results from the first 2-3 weeks, and think that the rest of our weight loss journey will be just as fast. And then the disappointment and demotivation hit. just need to reset expectations for more of 5-10 pounds per month. Maybe open your diary so we can…

Ha. I cheat - I'm just really skilled with googling. The husband says that I'm a font of useless knowledge. I am pretty killer at Trivial Pursuit though, so I have that going for me.

I think I found the article. This one, right? http://www.livestrong.com/article/115683-foods-cure-eczema/ The first section talks about the need for more omega-3's to reduce inflammation. There's where grass-fed butter and beef could be helpful. Flax seed / oil is supposed to be loaded with omega 3's. The section talking…

KFC Grilled Chicken (preferably dark meat with skin to boost the fat) They'll all provide burgers without buns. Bacon cheeseburgers are good. Arby's Roast Beef without the bun. Caesar Salads without croutons are usually pretty safe. Jimmy Johns has an "Unwich" Chipotle is awesome - salad bowl with meat, cheeee, sour cream,…

I haven't had any change with respect to my eczema. Mine ties to the weather, cold, water and water. Regular use of cortizone keeps mine controlled. If anything, I'd say that things were worse with standard American diet. The info I've looked at does not have a clear cause for eczema - and I'm not sure that there's…

If you search over on reddit for keto and epilepsy, there are quite a few threads on this, and a fair number of people following the diet for their epilepsy. Maybe make a post over there, or even private message a few individuals. The reading I've done suggests that keto for epilepsy may not be the same as what we do for…

I think anytime you've had significant change -- at least every 10 pounds or every month. Remember - usually the calculations are built on Body Fat % and not weight. So you're Body Fat % may shift, and weight may not. The Keto Calculator is a great tool, since so much is built into that. For those who haven't used or seen…

So, a big reason you tend to see high sodium recipes, is that on low carb we need more sodium. From "The Art and Science of Low Carbohydrate Living" Low carb diets are natriuretic - they make the kidneys dump sodium. Sodium deficiency can cause headache, dizziness and fatigue. With continued low carb intake and sodium…

From what I've read on the Fat Fast, Atkins recommended this approach for only those that were severely metabolically resistant to going into to ketosis. "let me make it clear that the fat fast is actually dangerous for anyone who is not metabolically resistant. for people who lose weight fairly easily, the rate of weight…

You need to take every opportunity to add fat. Caveman Keto's website has some very good recipes. I made the Chilli last week, and took that in for lunches. The base macros have a little more protein vs fat than I try to eat, so I add cheese and sour cream to boost up the macros. I also like supplementing with recipes from…

Diet soda does not "mess up" your carb count. However, artificial sweeteners are, in general, a YMMV thing (your miles may vary). Some people may experience stalls due to the sweeteners. Also, it can be challenging to drink the amount of water needed if you are also drinking soda.
-
I'm not entirely sure what you're asking. Most people doing low carb, high fat are trying for ketosis. The number of carbs to stay in ketosis will vary from person to person - most just stick with that 20-30 g range. You also need to keep your protein in check. You want enough protein to maintain lean body mass. Excess…

There isn't a relationship between dietary cholesterol and your blood cholesterol. Don't worry about dietary cholesterol.

Caveman Keto has some great options. We made his Chilli last week - it's a great one for lunches or dinner (with some sour cream and cheese of course!). I also like the "ham and cheese egg cups" from the Fat Fast Cookbook for lunches. Super easy to make and to transport.

What are these "egg whites" and "lite turkey" on your diary???? I do not understand! (I kid, I kid). OK, I know you posted on another thread that you are doing more like 60-35-5 for your macros. It doesn't look like you're getting enough fat though. I know my numbers are higher fat, but I try to get at least as many fat…
