Well, I happen to like thighs (I know they aren't as good for you as the white meat, but they're cheaper and are more flavorful). Anywho, I often get the frozen thighs from Walmart and bake them. Sprinkle some Mrs. Dash (No Salt) Original or Table blend on them and they are YUM! :-)

You look FANTASTIC! Great work! Thanks for sharing your story - you have DEFINITELY inspired me!

I thought the same thing! I started Saturday (today was my WK 1 DAY 2). The app does help. I'm 206lbs. and thought that I'd need to at least be under 200 for me to be successful. Turns out, (so far) it's a piece of cake! I guess I'm in a little better shape than I thought?!

WOWSERS! You look TERRIFIC!!!! Thanks for posting - keep it up! :-)

Oh I know EXACTLY how you feel. In college, I was a 10/12, then 14, then graduated wearing 16s. Of course that was before the hubby, kids, jobs, etc. I look back at pics then and find it silly that I thought I was "big" at 10/12. If only I could get BACK there!!!!

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS!!!!!

Great for you! :-) I exercise 2-3x/week. I HATED (and still don't LOVE) it at first - was NEVER really active, BUT.....I'd really like for my lifestyle change to be something I can feasibly keep up with to maintain my weight. So far, so good. :-)

ABSOLUTELY AGREE!!!! WELCOME & You CAN do this! :-)

I say it may be a little trial and error. I initially started at 238lbs. and kept at 1240 calories (per MFP recommendations) for about a month. Then, I started to notice my appetite increasing - A LOT! So, I played around w/ some settings and set my goal to 1.5lbs./week and it gave me about 1350 calories. Did THAT for a…

I agree with the previous posters. You don't have much to lose. Besides, slower may be better if you intend for your weight loss to be PERMANENT (as many of us, I'm sure!) I've learned along the way, allow yourself to have some things you still enjoy. I'm also learning that the way we view food is a lot of times, mental.…

This is so true! God is just amazing like that, isn't He? Thanks for sharing with us and reminding us of just that, this day! Said a prayer for your friend, too! Please keep us posted!

Hey There & Welcome! I wanted to reply because it seems we've started at about the same: I'm 5'6" & started (MFP) at 238lbs. I'm 211 today. I'm learning that every-(body) is definitely different so I only offer advice based on my experience so far. I started out eating 1220 calories or so and did fine for the first 3wks or…

Forgot to add, my highest weight was 256lbs. in Nov. 2010. I started MFP at 238lbs. on Jan. 6, 2011. So, overall, I've been averaging about 6-8 lbs./month. I try to eat at least half (if not all) of my exercise calories and I only exercise 2-4 times a week. I've never been one to exercise (before taking my weight loss…

Hi there! I'm 29, 5'6" and currently 214lbs. My profile pic, though, is me at 221, I believe. I had my calories set at losing 2lbs./wk; approx. 1240 calories/day. I did well for the first two months then started to get REALLY, REALLY hungry keeping it at that. I up'ed my calories since (now at 1820 or so); though I hardly…

You look PHENOMENAL! Thanks for sharing your progress with us! You summed up your experience (and advice for the rest of us, I should say) rather nicely!

I second this! I'm a list person. Here's something like what my list looks like: GOAL: To be in the best shape of my life by the time I'm 30 Dec. '10: Reduce portions, cut out sodas and juices (still had/ *and have* my morning cup of joe); drink only WATER!!! Jan. '11: EXERCISE - do SOMETHING! Commit to exercise at LEAST…

I LOVE this! :-) Thanks for sharing!

I say try it - at least for a week. I'm doing something similar myself. I was losing steadily but found myself becoming hungrier after keeping to my calories at 1240 or so. I upped them to 1340 then did that for a month. Of course, I've been maintaining my exercise regimen and have grown even hungrier (wonder if there's a…
