  • Why would you think you're never allowed to have one again? The only things stopping you would be you, and an overrestrictive mindset. Part of learning how to maintain a healthy weight (once you get to your goal) is understanding how to balance treats and your core good nutrition. If it fits in your calories (assuming your…
  • Yeah, I track my weight trends on Libra so I usually know what my ups.and downs look like and why (cycle, medication, etc...) I didn't have any of those normal water weight factors right before shot 1. Can I say with absolute certainty it was the shot? No, of course not, but it definitely seems likely. Immune response…
  • Yeah, I didn't do anything differently before I went in for mine. I guess maybe making sure you're hydrated, and getting a good night's sleep never hurts anything. I think all vaccine sites are different too. I live in a medium sized city with a stellar hospital system, so I was in and out in less than 15 minutes for my…
  • Not sure what you're referring to...some new feature I'm unaware of, or some new trending thing?
  • Are you eating the same things over and over? Maybe you're just bored with what you're eating. Have you tried anything new lately...new recipes, new takeout, new products..or some kind of cuisine you haven't tried before? I find that I get bored when I make the same things a few times in a row because they're easy, but…
  • I think so, yes. It changes your focus somewhat and gives you more goalposts to work with, depending on what "healthier" means to you. For me, I'm somewhat excited by seeing the scale go down, but I'm even more excited when I see my BP number going down with it. Right now that's my primary reason for losing more weight.…
  • Also, the link Kshama posted from MFP actually says all of that. It's worth a read.
  • MFP does ask about how many workouts you plan to do, true, but it doesn't affect your calorie goal in any way. I don't know why it's even a question since it doesn't do anything. If you don't believe me, change your answer on the exercise question and you'll see what I mean. But otherwise, no, exercise is not meant to be a…
  • I read somewhere (can't recall where) that someone's nurse told them after the first shot, that they should be very well hydrated before they get their second shot. The nurse said people tended to have fewer side effects if they drank more water. I don't know if that's true or not, but either way it couldn't hurt, I…
  • So came back to update since I had dose 2 last week of the Pfizer vaccine. It took about a week and a half for the extra water weight to flush out with the first shot. Interestingly, I didn't have the scale increase with shot 2, nor any other side effects.
  • It isn't though. Activity calories and exercise calories are separate in the MFP method. Activity in this case is what you do outside of exercise (active job, for instance, or chasing kids all day, or sedentary desk job..etc.) That's why when you input intentional exercise into MFP, it adds calories back to your total.…
  • This thread was from 2015, so it's likely OP isn't concernrd about it anymore..
  • I had the light headedness trying to do 1200 calories as an active person years ago, back before I learned better. I didn't stick with it long (probably a couple of weeks, if that) because then the dizzy spells started and it scared me, plus I was tired of being hungry and cranky.
  • What Janejellyroll said. Additionally, I'm one of those people who do not ever workout on an empty stomach if I can help it. It makes me queasy and low energy. I have to eat something or I lose steam. I remember when we'd go away for marching band camp in high school, our band director always insisted on us to doing an…
  • I dunno...I don't think it's entirely without value to point out. Some people might not even consider to add drinks into their diaries (along with sauces, oils..etc..). I'd include soda in that too, though.
  • I'm not a raw onion person, but I do get that problem with garlic. I mean..I eat it anyway but still... 😂
  • Hmm...well I don't know what other fairs have and I actually haven't gone in years, but around here the thing to get is the fried fish sandwich. It just smells so good even walking up to the booth! Funnel cakes are good, too, because that is a nice item that can easily be split (and should be anyway, because they're…
  • For me, it sets up a bad mindset to put food in the "reward" category. I start thinking things like.."I had a bad day at work and I'm stressing over X or Y, so I "deserve" to have an extra large blizzard!" or "I lost 10 lbs so I "deserve" to have a "cheat" day!" Pretty soon I'm undoing the good progress I made and the…
  • It isn't though. I think in your other thread you said you have a degree. I also have a college degree (two, actually), and neither are in nutrition. I'm also terrible at math, but I have lost at least 65 lbs and maintained it despite that.. You're making it harder than it needs to be. By all means, keep.your Garmin…
  • It would be advisable to stop, yes, if it's wiping out your deficit, but first log it to see where you stand. You could be just overeating in general through logging errors and the cheat day is adding to it. One thing you could try in place of a "cheat" day is just to eat a day or two at your current maintenance calories…
  • I feel like I'm saying this a lot lately, but I'm confused. Maybe could you clarify what you're asking for? A carb that is low carb isn't a thing... Are you asking for grains/noodles/pasta suggestions (which aren't strictly "carbs", btw..they do contain other macros, too) ? Vegetables?
  • You say you're eating "healthy", but what does that mean to you? "Healthy" eating is not required for weight loss, but being in a calorie deficit is. How many calories are you eating and what is your calorie goal? Were you losing weight prior to COVID as well? How much do you have to lose? How are you determining your…
  • Ah, ok, yeah what Ann said (and everyone else) makes sense. I've been using the app for so long that I didn't even think about the information displayed likely being different between the app version and the web version. I was thinking of the number below from the app view. After doing this for so many years, I just think…
  • Yeah, this is the issue for me. I understand what cwolfman is saying above, but the way OP phrased the question (and writing the number specifically with the negative sign, which is what I usually see when I overeat my net calories daily) is what's throwing me and making me think they are overeating. Please open your…
  • Wait...now I'm confused. Showing a negative number like in OP's example above means they have eaten 350 calories over their net and not under (usually a green positive number) , right? Or am I getting this wrong and we're talking about something else?
  • Sounds great! I would what time is dinner, but it's breakfast time here now! 😂
  • So what if it means more time? What's the rush? Good health is a lifelong journey, and hopefully you're thinking about the quality of your health, too, and not strictly just the number on the scale. As someone said above, you need to think beyond the weight loss process. Some people think that's the hard part, but really…
  • Normally I would be on board with this statement, but in this case I'm respectfully disagreeing. If OP has been at this for 8 weeks total, lost 11 lbs, and has been stalled for 3 weeks...unless I'm misunderstanding the OP, that means she's lost 11 lbs in 5 weeks, which is over 2 lbs a week and way too aggressive for her…
  • I got these a few weeks ago and just ate the banana nut one today. It was really good! Thank you!
  • You're 5'7" and 156...and you're working out.most days of the week, so why are you eating so little?
