I drink Shakeology (I'm not a beachbody coach & I'm not trying to sell you on it) LOL... but I do love Shakeology! It's more than just a protein shake, which is what hooked me on them. Protein & packed with vitamins & minerals... it can replace your protein powder AND your daily vitamin! Also, you can mix it with water,…

I've seen my Mom's health deteriorate over the past 15 years... obesity, arthritis, heart disease & stroke... I don't want to go through what she's had to deal with! I know we all make our own choices, but I don't remember ever once seeing my mother exercise. She was "busy", and we lived in the country raising animals...…

I'm struggling with this today... I ran the 26.2 in Cincinnati on Sunday, and yesterday wasn't so bad, but today... my tummy is RUMBLING!!! Just keep writing it down... everything you eat today... and to keep it in perspective, look at how many calories you burn running 9 miles!! You body is trying to make up what it lost!…

I JUST went to my doctor week before last about this same topic!! I was keeping my calorie budget at 1250 daily from January through the first part of April... and I GAINED 2lbs!! I went to have my thyroid, cholesterol, etc checked & to find out what I was doing wrong... he told me to increase my calories!! He said that I…

I can't believe I'm "recommending" it... but Greek Yogurt is very high in protein. It's a little hard to eat straight, as yogart (and I LOVE yogurt)... it's just thick & a little on the sour side.

WoW this brings back memories!! My Gran use to make this when I was a kid... my brothers & I loved it and we would devour the entire pot!! I haven't had it in years! Thx for the blast from the past!! Angie

It's definitely one of the hardest things we do! "Woman-Wife-Mother-Athlete" Holy Moly, it's a wonder we hang in there at all... but we do! Be kind to yourself... there are days when I can push my carcass out of bed at 3:30am just so I can fit in a workout, and there are days when I HAVE to allow myself to rest! (I open my…

Thanks for (re)posting this here... I would have missed it otherwise! Great way to look at "teaching" ourselves how to become healthier!! Angie

How awesome!! That's a good Man right there!! (my hubby loves my muscle-butt, and doesn't mind telling me about how it's changed!) hahaha!

THX!! I'll definitely try this one... they sound great! I've made taquitos in the past, but my girlfriend taught me her style of the recipe... and they were deep fried! I haven't made them in YEARS! Thanks for a yummy sounding recipe!

When my boys were little, I would sneak veggies into EVERYTHING... I'd blend mushrooms, carrots & onion & mix them into burgers... I'd do the same with homemade chicken noodle soup, blending up potato, onion, carrot, celery, etc, then pouring right back into the soup!! They never knew it was there, but ate it like it was…

2X a week is a great way to start... before you know it, you can hang with those daily HIIT routines (like Insanity etc). Another workout that incorporates HIIT training is Turbo Fire... they're great fun! Sometimes different fitness centers who offer it as a class (ie: Hip Hop Hustle, Turbo Kick, etc) will give you the…

Thank you for sharing the information! I became so frustrated with a 10lb weight gain the past 2 years... this past January, I put myself on a 1250 daily calorie budget!!! I maintained that for nearly 3 months. I actually gained about 2 lbs during those 3 months! So, I went to my doc & he said I absolutely HAD to have more…

Great advice!! With snacking, we'll nibble on what's available... so make available great choices for those moments when temptation strikes! LoL! One little thing I've learned to do, is grab water FIRST... when I'm itchin' to nibble on something while I'm in my office. I'll drink some water FIRST, then sometimes I'll go…

Locally here... on a day when I have to run out for fast food, I generally opt for a grilled chicken salad with low cal dressing on the side (to dip my fork in) from Culver's, or a 6 inch Subway flatbread (no mayo). :flowerforyou: Angie

I'm so excited for you & your first 10K!! I just posted, in my blog, an AWESOME article on what to eat/drink before a long training run or race... it's got some great info... and it's a pretty short article! Above all... enjoy Sunday!! Angie

Great article! Thanks for posting!

Well, at my checkup last week... my doc said that I have "the legs of a bull"... so I'm guessing that's it for me! LOL! I have a pretty juicy mucle butt too.

Oh Sweetie... I remember breaking down when my babygirl (our 3rd child) was 2 years old and I was still over 200lbs! I joined a women's only fitness center, and actually had an instructor / personal trainer tell me that I'd NEVER be able to get a hard flat tummy after having 3 kids... it just wasn't possible to repair that…

Honestly, very simple (no equipment required) PILATES helped me to lose my first 50 lbs!! Exercises like 100's, planks, pushups, V's, etc are amazing at strengthening & toning your core muscles!! I did use a pilates DVD (I guess that counts as equipment)... but even now, years later, when I pop it in... it can still kick…

ARE YOU KIDDING ME??? Didn't we have this "bad word / good word" conversation in here already today... now they're going to STAR OUT my sheeeetaahke mushrooms because it could be misinterpreted as a bad word? Seriously? GRRR! Oh the aggravation!

LoL! Funny replies! My hubby and I had started motorcycle shopping for me, oh, 5 years ago, or so. I decided that I'd rather have my boobs "repaired" after baby #3. BEST $$$$ I've EVER SPENT!! Confidence through the roof... and like the comment above... Don't let anybody tell you different!

AHHH! The Flying Pig!! That's where I'll be! So, I'm with ya Girl! Good luck this Sunday... I'm sure you'll do GREAT!! And even if you can't SLEEP... being in a hotel & pre-race emotions... just try to not toss & turn. As long as you're resting, you'll be fine! Please post how it goes, or blog about it!! :flowerforyou:…

I've been trying to track down a guy I use to work with... he would bring to work homemade "powerbars" (so to speak)... they were brownie consistency, but they would vary in flavor... anything from blueberry nut, to banana, or cranberry, or chocolate! They were FAB! I've been playing around with different recipes, but…

The main thing is to not do anything drastically different than you've done throughout your training. I know getting out there early (I'll be doing the 26.2 this Sunday...) is a change, but as far as nutrition... stick with what you've been doing. If you drink coffe usually on a day that you run, it's not going to hurt…

I totally agree!! When you finally find the thing that is the perfect fit for you... you will start craving that time in your day!! Running is one of my fav passions... I also dig pilates (which helped me to lose that initial 50lbs a few years back!) Hang in there Sweetie! :)
