Weight loss is all just chemistry, there is no debate. You burn energy, and refuel with food. If you eat less calories than you burn you will lose weight 100% of the time. There was a thread once of a guy who ate fast food, breakfast cereal, high carb meals, and massive amounts of dessert but still lost weight because he…

Are you weighing all of your food and logging every single thing you eat? Unless you have a medical reason, stop counting carbs. It doesn't make any difference in actual fat loss. Regarding exercise calories, this app overestimates usually. I would eat back half of the estimated exercise calories and see how you feel. But…

I'm posting here because I was confused, not because I was freaking out. I was confused because people encourage others to use these apps to understand the overall picture, and now the overall picture is indicating that I'm going to gain 10 pounds by the end of the year just because my weight was up a couple pounds for a…

Thanks, that's helpful. I also eat unevenly now, with one day well over the others per week, so my weight jumps up the day after for a few days and then it falls back off. I set it to 10 days and it made the trend a lot less jagged and dramatic. Hopefully 10 days isnt too many. It's making me feel better lol. Is there a…

@MikePTY yep!

I always find questions like this odd. Is it possible? Yes. Is it unlikely to sustain? Also yes. At the end of the day, counting calories will only benefit you in that you know exactly what you're eating and therefore can make informed decisions on how much to eat, and how to incorporate the treats you love. If you dont…

Mine is open.

I'm not currently worrying about the fluctuations, but my question was that I increased to a deficit that should make me lose a pound a week, but I've only really lost 1.5 over 4 weeks. I'm posting again to ask how I'm supposed to figure out my maintenance calories. When I ate 1200 calories i lost 2 pounds a week and then…
-
Okay, I'm back after 4 ish weeks! I need help analyzing these trends if someone can help me.. I get that it shows the trend going down three pounds but if you look at the numbers, I basically have bounced up and down from roughly the same low number to slightly less-high upper numbers. The first one was so high partly due…

Where do you guys keep hearing that a caloric deficit doesn't work? I've never heard anyone say that in my entire life.
-
I was 5'6 and 158 pounds wearing a size 8 pants. I'm now 130 pounds and wearing a VERY snug size 6.
-
I already do that. As I said above it told me I was 59.2 then 59.5 and back and forth over and over one minute after the next. I was only giving a comparison to another scale to show an example of the inconsistency and possibility that it was even more off than by .3 kg.

I'm not Australian but I lived there for a while! I'm in NZ now.

If a pound a week is the worst case scenario (I'm not someone who binges or completely loses control, but I do want to be able to eat desserts and meals with a lot higher calories than I'm used to sometimes) than that's not a big deal. You're right, I want to enjoy it and not worry about it, but considering it's a whole…

I'm still figuring out maintenance calories. I'm currently eating 1500 per day gross, but exercising a ton so I assume I'll be eating more. At least I hope so, I've fluctuated between 130 and 132 for the last two weeks when I should theoretically be losing a pound a week. I'm only planning to drink once or twice on the…

I was losing 1.5 to 2 pounds a week on 1200 calories. I switched to 1500 exactly two weeks ago. I dropped from 132 to 130.5 just before the first day, then climbed up to almost 133 over a few days. Now I've been moving up and down between 130 and 132.5 ever since. It's been pretty annoying since I never fluctuated like…

You could try pre packaging them into serving sizes and plan how much you'll eat per day. For me it works because if I eat some from a second package, I know I'm stealing from my treats for tomorrow lol.
-
No it doesn't! Haha. It's really hard to find accurate entries in New Zealand. I always just compare the calories to the packaging for stuff like chicken broth or sauerkraut that I'm using that are low calorie. The main food items I eat I'm much more careful with. In the past I didnt really care about sodium but now since…

Still hovering around 60 kg for 7 days now. On the other hand my boyfriend who's also increased his calories and eaten way more carbs than I have had managed to drop 2kg overnight.

I'm 5 ft 6 and exercise heavily for an hour and a half 6 days a week. I'm transitioning into maintenance. According to my weight loss trends, online estimates, and common sense I shouldn't have to reduce my calories below 1500 to maintain.
-
My plan was to increase to 1700 after this, so I'm on my way there :) Hopefully I'm not cursed and my maintenance calories aren't actually 1500 lol. I'm hoping to do 1500 during the week and 2100 on weekend days eventually. I thought it would work based on calculating my TDEE from intake/weight loss over the last 4 weeks,…

Maybe I'm just lucky! Before I lost weight my scale was always 157.8 to 158.3 pounds when I decided to check, and my food intake varied a LOT back then. During my weightloss the last three months it would go down .1 or .2 kg per day (new country), sometimes stay the same, and only ever went up by .1 and then back down…

Yeah I more so meant its significant for me because my weight doesn't fluctuate as much as most people. I haven't experienced much water weight gain after high carb meals or heavy workouts with sore muscles, TOM, etc. I understand though. I can see it's common and things are different for me now with the extra 300…

I've just checked and my carbs are about 50g higher a day from 150 to 200. Is that enough to retain water? I didnt feel like it was much since I wasnt loadung up on bread or pasta, didnt really consider it.
-
I really hope it's just waste. I just feel like the extra food has been so light. I'm trying to not overreact but in the last three months my weight has never gone up more than .2 at a time so after 5 days of this I'm starting to worry. I'll try to ignore it a few more days but it's hard! Haha.

My boyfriend and I feed ourselves for a week on $100 to $120 total, so no more than $60 per person. This is for chicken breast, pork chops, brown rice, chicken stock, hummus, pretzels, bananas, carrots, dark chocolate, oats, corn, cucumbers, almond milk, greek yogurt, eggs, and granola. We dont eat out ever, so this covers…

Thank you! I just get tripped up with knowing my true maintenance calories with all the variations. That's what stops me from wanting to eat more, im afraid to mess it up. But I've got a plan now! Going shopping Tuesday for my new calorie allotment. I'm excited to buy some popcorn and spring rolls lol.
-
I decided I'm going to start out next week at 1500 calories and feel it out for 3-4 weeks, then maybe increase to 1700.

When someone goes back and forth between two machines and feels like they should have exclusive access to both for the entire time.

My boyfriend has lost 27 pounds and I've lost 23 since we started!
