Going Paleo has been the best decision I've ever made. I made the switch in August of last year and will never look back. I'm dropping weight consistently, never feel deprived with my food options, and I've never felt better mentally or physically as I do right now.

For those that started January 1, we're 2/3 done with this one! How is everyone doing?

You could always go for the straight forward approach. Let him know that the constant communication is making you feel uncomfortable and see what happens. I've always been one to give people the benefit of the doubt. He may just be excited, nervous, socially awkward, etc.

Whovian here, too :} Sometimes I feel alone in my love for Nine, especially since he was so short lived in the series, but he's my favorite. Closely followed by Ten, of course!

We have pretty similar stats and goals right now :) I switch off between Paleo and Primal--I'm Paleo this month (Whole30, to put a finer point on it), but will be back to Primal next week. I'm sending a friend request!

I'm O and everything you described fits me to a T. Paleo is the first diet that has made any sense in my life.

I hit 70 lbs lost this morning. Some part of me believes that not that much has changed... I mean, I've only lost four sizes. Then I look at this comparison and I realize it's a lot! January, 2013 A few minutes ago (January, 2014) I'm only halfway to my ultimate goal weight, so I have a long road ahead of me.

You and I started in similar places and have similar end-goals :) I'm about halfway through my journey now (it feels so weird to say that!). MFP has bee instrumental in keeping me on track. I follow a completely clean-eating diet with lots of veggies and meat, no grains or processed food of any kind (well, some rice on…

Your fat goal is exceedingly low. If you follow this plan for long, I can see you having issues with your hair, nail, and skin health, among other things. The human body needs fat to operate. Eating fat does not make you fat, there is no need to be scared of it. Focus on eating healthy fats (unsaturated, polyunsaturated,…

This depression in the absence of some foods is a pretty well documented phenomenon. It's very likely that you're addicted to whatever chemical response they cause. Why don't you try doing the 21-day sugar detox? Or a Whole30? Both of these programs will help you get over your dependency on certain food items (namely,…

Oh... maybe seek professional help for disordered eating?

If eating low fat makes your hair fall out, why not try a high fat diet? High fat, low carb could be the ticket for you.

My condolences for your loss. It gets harder before it gets easier, but you're absolutely doing the right thing. You're moving on only in regard to what's right for you, but that doesn't mean that you're leaving the memory of him behind. I lost my father some years back, so if you ever need a kindred spirit to talk to, I'd…

I'm one of those low-carbers. I strive to keep under 30g net carbs per day, but don't consider the day a failure if I can keep it at least under 50g. That means that I've set my macros 10% carbs, 60% fat, 30% protein. I also eat Paleo/Primal, so I don't have any grains in my diet, which helps keep carb intake down. The…

I'll add you! I'm almost halfway through my weight loss journey, with about 75lbs left to lose. I eat clean, am Paleo/Primal, and strive to also be keto :)

MFP is a tool that will help you succeed if you want to succeed. As with anything, you can't half-*kitten* it and expect transformation overnight. I've read that losing weight is about 80% diet and 20% exercise. You said you know the right foods to eat--when was the last time you really evaluated that? Have you tried other…

Heavy cream is, in fact, about 3% lactose. It just amounts to something so tiny that they don't have to report it on nutrition labels when your serving size is a tablespoon. I went completely dairy free for my first month of Paleo (August), as well as last month (November, Whole30). I miss cheese and cream in my coffee…

I'm really gearing up for this Whole30! It's going to be a good one :D
-
Count me in! I have a group of 9 people locally who are going to do the Whole30 with me this time :D I did my first one just last month, but am ready to go at it again!

I weighed in this morning. My results were a little disappointing and a bit perplexing. Total weight down was only 5.2 lbs and the only inches I lost were off my waist--1.9 inches gone there, but nowhere else. I did start weight training this month as part of another goal, so I'm wondering if slowed weight loss has…

I'm Paleo/Primal, so all of my meals are completely grain-free, legume-free (including soy), and don't have any processed foods in them. All of the meals pictured here happen to also be dairy-free. I love to cook! Curry Butternut Squash Soup (with beet chips and butternut squash chips): Bacon Sauteed Kale: Beef Stew with…

Entering the home stretch! Just 6 more days of my Whole30, including today (5.5 days, really, since today is half over). I'm feeling pretty wonderful, but a little bit weary of what feels like every dish in my house being dirty all the time. I went shopping yesterday and bought a couple new dresses. Not only were these…

I have some tummy issues cropping up every now and again. I'm still trying to isolate the cause :( Just when I think I have it figured out, it happens again that doesn't have a common denominator that I can easily identify. Perhaps it's a cluster of causes? Too much fat in one meal and too much starchy vegetable in one…

I make tons of egg cups to store for up-to 3-4 days in the fridge. They heat-and-eat super quickly and are in convenient serving sizes. Beat 6-12 eggs (depending on how many cuppies I want--6 eggs usually makes 12 cuppies with lots of veggies) Add in another pre-cooked protein source (bacon, sausage, etc) Mix in chopped…

This is a fabulous idea! A decorated mug of some sort with an assortment of those flavored Land o' Lakes hot cocoa packets. Loving this idea! This is what I've been struggling with. Can I control myself in the face of all that wonderfulness? I really, really don't want to "gluten" myself, as I tend to have a pretty radical…

I am! I have some social outings already planned in December, so I can probably only extend my Whole30 by one week, but that's better'n nothing :D

Thanks, nicky! I'm going to have to give that recipe a try this week, I think. Last night I had a dream that I drank a beer and ate some chocolate. I was so upset with myself for ruining my Whole30. In my dream, I found myself wishing it was a dream so that it wasn't true, but simply resigned myself to believing that I'm…

Another Whole30 in January would be awesome! I've been toying around with the idea, myself. I actually have a few people at work hyped up about Whole30 and potentially 4 people that have committed to doing the challenge with me in March, 2014. In return, I have committed to doing a 5k Color Run in April... although I doubt…

I usually start with searches on Craigslist, although the farmer's market is a great place, too. A good, local farmer will allow you to see his or her property and the animals on it. Ask about feed and slaughter practices to make sure they conform to your Paleo and ethical standards. Once you find a great supplier, form a…

This looks delicious! I'd LOVE to recipe, if you have it :D I'm halfway through the challenge and it feels good. I also launched myself into working out with coworkers after work--our goal is 3-4 sessions per week. It's mostly been cardio so far, but I had a friend give me a rundown on how to properly lift free-weights. My…
