  • Weight loss depends more on what you eat and drink. It's hard to exercise enough to lose without reducing calories. How you do that is up to you. Many people have to have therapy before they can start to lose. If you've tried everything else, you may want to consider it.
  • So, who says you have to eat or drink dairy products? Eliminate them from your diet--no problem.
  • My oven conked out so I dragged out my air fryer that is brand new, but never used. Last night I made kale chips in it. They came out light and crispy--much better than the oven.
  • That's nice about your aunt. I don't need the fine details, the internet is a fun, but dangerous place. Better to not give out random information, however, I do remember all your stories from past threads. It's Western color--in 3D. You have an amazing family. Hold em' close. As you know I exercise and stretch a lot--over…
  • THIS is a stitch! Let me know how it goes. I love funny old people (I'm in training myself), I agree that when they get behind the wheel it's a good idea to get the h*** out of the way. I'm too busy. Lots of appointments. My right leg has been aching since the summer and over Christmas I had trouble walking. I'd start off…
  • OP, for instance, on Friday you logged cauliflower rice and chopped broccoli. Did you eat them plain with no oil, butter, or sauce?
  • I did go back in your food diary for over a week. There are days missing a lot of meals--only breakfast listed, or lunch for example. There are no oils, butters, or other sauces listed. I guess I don't know what to say. You diary seems incomplete to me. I don't want to get you upset, but if you want to lose weight, you…
  • Ah, parents in decline--we should start a club. My mother is 93 and refuses to go to assisted living while my brother is on vacation in Mexico for 3 months. She's in Minnesota, out on a farm, watching TV. I'm in Rome, Italy and try to call. One of my brothers lives on the farm, but works during the day. The other siblings…
  • Another thing you can do if you really like acquagym is to do less. You don't say how long the session is, ours is 50 min. I do 30, because I swim for 40 min before. I do my 30 min and then just get out of the pool and go (I also do it because the showers are less crowded). After all this time the instructors know me and…
  • Totally normal. I've been doing acquagym for 25 years, and still remember when I started---I could hardly crawl out of the pool. It passes in a couple of weeks. Look at the others doing it, if they've been at it awhile, you'll see that they are fine after. I always have a fruit gummy piece of candy after (not gummy bears,…
  • OK. I'm going out to dinner with old friends in a few minutes. The squirrels just left. I'm chasing my tail these days. See ya.
  • Yes I know. People here in Rome are always commenting on the BIG snowstorms in America and the people that die. I say that a lot of the people that die are over weight and out of shape and go out to shovel snow. Heart attacks. Snow seems light and fluffy--Ha!
  • THIS is terrifying. They were all traveling too fast for the conditions. Any normal car was in a sandwich. I used to drive in that stuff.
  • For lunch--whole wheat pasta w broccoletti (a type of broccoli) and EVOO, a large navel orange and protein powder pudding with chia and wild berries.
  • Great analysis! Even I, not the greatest in the sciences and math (I'm into art and color), understood this. Thanks. ;) B) ;)
  • This made me laugh. I just realized "die" + t = diet. Maybe that's where Bart is getting it. What a stitch.
  • I think you're being ignored. For Bart. I don't consider myself a stupid person, but your examples and descriptions just don't ring true with me. Too "over thinking". All these long repeated "losing weight is dying" and "exercise doesn't count" are giving me a headache. We get your position, but so far haven't found a soul…
  • Wow! My husband and I just got the booster. Our doctor (BIL) said to get it now. So far COVID is stable here, in Italy, and people that need to, mask on public transport and doctors offices, hospitals, etc. We also got our flu shot in November, and neither of us have even had a cold since then. I only mask up on public…
  • I also applaud you. Congratulations on making changes. Keep making them and you will get to goal. It's probably time to log your food, at least for awhile. Exercising is not necessary for weight loss, but as mentioned above, will be good for your health--especially as you age. Many people walk to start, but it's important…
  • Exactly. Pesce means "fish" in Italian (perhaps other Med languages also). It just means you eat fish, and someone put a fancy name on it. My husband's been eating this way for 60 yrs and doesn't even know there's a label--or rules. By the way, he's naturally thin.
  • I just went to the dictionary.
  • Interesting, because when I looked up "pescatarian" for a definition, it said eggs and milk products are allowed.
  • My husband--69 yrs old--is pescatarian and has been since he was a child. He will eat milk products and sometimes eggs. He eats a lot of cheese and I integrated his diet with whey protein powder 5 years ago. He gets enough protein. If you don't eat milk products or eggs it will be difficult. Someone else will step up for…
  • I love the new rendition of "Tiny Dancer". I keep dancing and singing when it comes on the radio (actually Alexa).
  • You don't say what your life is like, but just a thought--gyms have many people using the same space and breathing intensely. If you aren't used to this type of contact, it could be this. There are lots of germs circulating in closed spaces. Your immune system might be weaker. As for running, what kinds of temps are you…
  • What a nice way to start the New Year!
  • That depends if it's full or empty.
  • I live in Italy and the majority are thin. People here eat pasta everyday. What makes them thin and you fat? Portion sizes, and, especially, sauces are heavier in other countries. Look up "Pasta a aglio, olio, e peperoncino"--it's the simplest thing you can put on pasta. Make your own sauces and make them simple and light.…
  • This is a learning experience. We've all done it and gone on. You'll be fine, pre-logging helps you plan your day. You can change things during the day, if you want, but it will give you some structure. Good luck.
  • Without adequate sleep, weight loss and exercise is a losing battle. Address the sleep issue---are you waking up frequently during the night? Do you need to go to bed earlier? Can you sleep later and fit in exercise at another time? Can you sleep later 4 mornings and get up earlier the other 3? As you can see, you may have…
