Get a soft ball about the size of a tennis ball and squeeze it while watching TV everyday. There are other hand exercises you can do also. I have a tennis ball that I roll under my feet everyday. It hurts at first, but helps with flexibility there too.

My question is "How's it been going". Have you been able to better your situation?

It's not personal. When posters type in certain words, the APP automatically puts "kitten" in it's place. In the past there was some awful language used by some posters, so this is the result. It was offensive to some of the members. People that are used to it type in their own "kitten" without waiting for the censors.

Sorry you're having difficulty. Most of us watch our calorie intake first and foremost. Exercise is good for your health, but you can't count heavily on it for weight loss. Calorie counting. Did you use a digital food scale? How long did you try it?

I live in Italy and cook for 4 men everyday. Everyday I make pasta or risotto for lunch and a protein and vegetables for supper. My men go to the gym and are in great shape. The idea of eating the same thing everyday just makes me shudder. It's not for me or my Italian family. Italians (and other folks) like to eat good…

Being in Holland I assume you have "humid" cold--the worst, it gets into your bones. When we lived in Venice it was that kind of cold. Tip--cashmire is very light and warm and stays warm even when wet. It's great underneath other layers. You can probably find old cashmire sweaters at fleamarkets. If you wash them by hand…

I can only tell you what I do. First off I wear cotton stretch leggings with sweatsuit pants over. The double layer makes a big difference. Wool socks or cashmire blend. I layer on top. Right now I'm wearing a thermal long sleeve stretch top with a pile Timberland jacket (very old--30 years) over. If I warm up too much I…

My recipes from home and old cookbooks are all cups and spoons. Over the years the first time I make it here, I weigh it all and pencil in next to the cups and spoons measurements. It's all ready for the next time I use the recipe.

You are just starting so don't get discouraged. It sounds like you are on a sensible path. Everyone has to change things up as they go along. At first, it's just important to get your logging down. Read the sticky posts that are chock full of useful information to start. Don't worry about carbs, if you're eating…

I have an old Better Homes cookbook that has basic everything. Then I have several church cookbooks from my hometown in Minnesota. When I get nostalgic, I find something from my younger years. I've lived in Italy 37 years and mostly cook Italian--pasta, risotto, etc. I now make up as I go along. However, I love my old…

You will burn more calories doing "Powerwalking". It just means that you change up your speed. Normal walk-5 min, medium fast-5 min, and as fast as you can or slow jog-5 min. Keep repeating. I do 40 min 4 times a week. You can also try hilly terrain to up your burn. Walking is so versatile. You can tailor it to your needs…

I really don't see why truthful=condescension. The OP put out a poll. His key word is "Consistency!!!". People didn't fit into the categories and truthfully said why. I consider myself to be consistent, but not in his categories. I also hope the OP (and everyone else) is successful and hits their goals. Sorry I was…
-
None of above. For the same reasons the others have stated. Consistency in calorie goals and exercise are what interests me--I make habits. "Cheat days" are just a packaged way to say "over eating".

My mother was a registered nurse and worked nights. Sometimes she'd be called to special--stay in a dying person's room. I once asked her if she was afraid to be there when a person died. She looked at me and said "No, I consider it a privilege to be there, and to comfort the family".

Just went to log in my diary and it's working perfectly. Thank you to whoever looked into this. I appreciate it.
-
So happy for you! A great achievement! Best of luck with your future goals.

My thought is: when did this all start? Go back to the beginning of it. Any thoughts on what you changed in your life at that point?

:D :D

This has also been happening to me for several days. So,I can't completely log in my food diary. It keeps taking me to "Breakfast" when I log in "Lunch" or "Dinner". When I do manage (after multiple tries), it'll all wipe out. Food logging is the basic reason most of us are here. All the bells and whistles don't count if…

Yes, but you can lose some of the muscle you already have, so, as mentioned above, strength train to keep as much as you can while losing weight. You are an experiment of 1, so start out and re-evaluate about every 6 weeks. Change things up if you're not going in the right direction. Good luck!

Do people even read a thread?

The OP posted this July 7th and then hasn't logged in since. She won't be seeing your response.

First of all, as a male you are not to go below 1500 cal a day (before exercise) and you add on your exercise calories. Going below this puts you at risk. You are on a VLCD. You also don't have much to lose, and should go very slowly. I advise you to rethink this if you want to preserve your health.
-
Yep---the OP isn't here anymore. Lovely comments guys, but she's not seeing them.

We call it pane sciapo and it comes from Tuscany. It is used to accompany prosciutto crudo, salamis, or soups. The bread is low-salt, but the other things are salty.

You talk about losing weight but are you doing strength training? That helps tremendously with under arm jiggle. However, you might not lose it all depending on how overweight you were and your age--as you get older your skin doesn't bounce back like before. I agree @AnnPT77 is definitely well versed on this topic.…

I avoid any thread asking advice on this. Every page has "GO PREMIUM" on it. Enough said.
