The calories burned are just what your body uses from just ticking over. It is one of the few advantages of being larger, we can loosewweight whilst eating lots. So if you eat 3230 calories a day you should loose 2 pounds a week, even without exercise. Walking or swimming would be a good exercise that is low impact.

I want to run faster!

Gorgeous! If you have the calories it's delicious with a tablespoon of low fat soft cheese stirred in just before serving.

Wow! That's so impressive!

The other things that makes readings go funny are over head power cables and a loose chest strap :-) It's one of those things that I've obsessed about when using HR training looking for my max to work out percentage zones. If the problem persists even with KY then try a new battery.

It's a common problem. The readings get better after half a mile or so because you're sweating by then. The solution is to use a water based lubricant on the strap. I had the same problem. Must admit I went to the self serve check out to buy it!

I'm spoilt for choice but my home run is Wythenshawe. Love Parkrun.

How long will you be there for? My top tip would be to google Parkrun and see if there is one local to where you will be. There are lots of them in London. It's a friendly informal running group at 9 am every Saturday. It's free, you just register and print out a bar code. You just turn up and run 5k at whatever pace,…

I do! It's great :-) Once you complete the 5k training and go onto zombies, run! You get to build a base and have to defend it and build a community. Really good fun. I like the zombie chase feature too. Once I hear them breathing down my neck it gets me sprinting like a loon, especially when I'm out on moonlit scampers.…

Did you get your shoes fitted in a specialist running shop? I'm guessing that they are the problem unfortunately. It sounds uncomfortable :-(
-
Absolutely! They are the most friendly, supportive events you can imagine. At my local one they have runners going from 18 minutes right up to 50 minutes on some weeks. Been to quite a few different ones and each has been welcoming and encouraging. Your Saturday morning won't be the same once you get started ;-)

Well done! A first one with hills, that's a real achievement :-)

Very good question. I look at last years times online and see where my tempo run time would place me in the field and start around that point. With chip timing it's okay to start a bit back as your time is when you cross the mat rather than gun time. I find it also helps me to not go off too fast then blow up in the last 3…

That's a really good point! All niggling injuries that I've picked up have been either trying to do too much too soon or because of weak core stability.

I second Dizzle! Couch to 5k and Parkrun, perfect combination. You can get c25k apps or if you search c25k nhs the details are there. Parkrun is different to running clubs or other races. It is normal to see people taking walk breaks and coming in upwards of 35 minutes, just as it's normal to see people thundering round in…

You take care. If you're feeling a bit poorly just do gentle exercise, nice and simple. Maybe brisk walking. Get well soon x

 That's like making me choose between chocolate ice cream and toffee ice cream! Everything in moderation. Just do what you enjoy x

I daydream or end up thinking about work. Mostly I run without music and just enjoy wherever my feet take me. There are some great paths near me.
