  • I AGREE!! Water and gum!
  • I totally understand! It's not my co-workers that tempt me - it's my sister! She was eating cookies the other day and we were on the phone and I said that I haven't had a cookie for as long as I could remember. So, she said - "Well, eat cookies then - I am!) I said that I didn't need to, so she started mocking me saying…
  • Yum! I do this daily, too, although mine is a little different. I eat the Danon Light 'n' Fit vanilla yogurt and put the thinly sliced Almond Accents on it (I think they are made for salads usually.) Probably not as healthy for me as raw, unsalted almonds, but oh well. I use the Toffee Crunch Almond Accents and they are…
  • Ummm . . . last night I had grilled cod, brown rice, and sauteed/steamed zucchini and yellow squash. (thinly sliced and with lots of seasonings!) Yum! You know what's funny - I hated this kind of stuff as a kid. I would eat the normal peas and corn kinda thing but when it came to zucchini and squash and stuff - I hated it!…
  • I'm not sure what the correct, healthy way is to do this. I do it once or so a week. I just try to eat really good and exercise more the next day. Sometimes I'm over and sometimes I'm under - but I do feel better about going over my calories if I work it off the next day. Don't know if it's healthy. I suppose a balanced…
  • Yeah, I would agree with the Peanut butter/Jelly thing. At least the calories and fat are somewhat good ones! I actually had this problem the other day, too, and with all the talk going around about not losing your weight because your body is in starvation mode, I kinda freaked!! But I had some almonds and a piece of…
  • I survived McDonalds today, too! Good for you! I really, really wanted a small french fry - I almost talked myself into it, too! My daughter wanted one of those little dogs from Hotel For Dogs which comes in the Happy meals nowadays. And she had a giftcard from Christmas and was off school today, so I thought "what the…
  • Oh my - this is one topic that I never wanted to post! But I am that way too!!!!!!!1
  • I just won the beautiful dress on EBay! Yay for me!! :drinker:
  • Thanks so much, Pepamint! As far as MY motivation on the treadmill - I have my Carribean Cruise brochure right in front of my face with all those ladies in bikini's and all the beautiful beaches and stuff. I am going on a cruise at the beginning of March and I'm gonna get down to a size 6 if it kills me! In fact, I am…
  • That's so cool that there's a lot of us out there that are going through the same thing and having the same thoughts! I, too, just went up to 6.0 on my treadmill - at a 3% incline even. I NEVER thought I would run. (I have a fear of it, too, since I have bad knees) But, like all of you, The Biggest Loser inspires me so…
  • I agree with what everyone said. I had a couple Bacardi/diet Cokes last night and didn't feel too terrible about it. I would agree with drinking a lot of water beforehand as well as working out as much as you can so you have the extra calories to eat up. (drink up, I mean! ) I decided to push myself today for…

  • Great Job!! I love this site and I love the people and support you get here. I've said this before and I'll say it again - I've never seen a site like this that you didn't have to PAY for!!! I'm kinda like you - once I decided to lose weight, I kinda got obssessed with it. But, in a tiny weird kinda way, I think that is…
  • Yum! I love salmon. I eat it whenever I can. I bake it with a thin layer of low-fat mayo on top. Sprinkle a little salt, white pepper, garlic, and tarragon on top of the mayo. On top of that, sprinkle some crushed walnuts or pine nuts. Or, my alltime favorite is the little bit of mayo on top and then quite a bit of dry…

  • I like the Special K Chocolate Chocolate Protien Bars for something a little more substantial - like if I need something for lunch and I don't have anything around. But for a snack, or if I am craving chocolate or candy, I LOVE the SlimFast Peanut Butter Crunch snack bars. They are so yummy - and NO JOKE, they taste just…

  • I was just wondering what was more beneficial if you are doing both strength/weight training and cardio work in the same workout session. Which should I do first?
  • I was doing one of my Jillian Michaels workout videos today and I think she mentioned something that was really interesting. Many people on here ask - how can I get rid of my stomach fat? How can I get rid of my fatty thighs/butt, etc.? As we already know, we CANNOT spot train a certain area of our bodies. Fat comes off…
  • Wow!! Good job! I actually did the same exact thing last night. Everyone was ordering pizza, and THANK GOD it wasn't from one of my favorite places. But I decided to go to Subway instead. I splurged a little by getting bacon and a little mayo on my sandwich so I didn't feel so bad! But, the funny thing is: my 6-year-old…
  • I think that a light white wine is better than red wine as far as calories. I read somewhere that the lower the alcohol content in wine, the lower the calories. But don't quote me!
  • Finally - now, I have been able to start noticing. It's been about 4 or 5 weeks steady of eating well and exercising consistently. I am down about 7 pounds . . . .
  • I'm no expert, but if your choices are tea and flavored water OR soda - definitely drink the tea and flavored water. If you can't gag down the plain water (which I totally understand!!) then those alternatives are certainly better for you than pop. Just do what you can, do what's best for you, and try not to stress too…
  • Whenever I look at "diets" I always see that you're supposed to snack on raw, unsalted almonds cuz of the protein and the good kind of fat in them. (is there such a thing?) Anywho - I was wondering - are cashews as good as almonds as far as a good snack? I DO like almonds and eat them quite a bit, but I actually…
  • Oh my! I love the Cheesecake Factory. I think I had some fish tacos there - maybe with Mahi Mahi in them? They were pretty good and probably healthier than most of the stuff on their menu. My only advice is stay away from the alcohol and stay away from the cheesecake! (that's funny, huh?? How do you go to the Cheesecake…
  • I am so sorry you're feeling this way! I know how the motivation thing goes - sometimes I have some and sometimes I have none. I feel like giving up and not trying anymore. I have been eating better and exercising 5 times a week and haven't lost a pound (or an inch!) It gets very frustrating. All I can say is to hang…

  • I do like the Special K Vanilla Almond Cereal. It's pretty tasty. I also like some of their drink mixes that you put in a water bottle. But you have to be careful of the sugar - like everyone else says. I have never done the full-out diet, though. Don't think I'd want to . . . .
  • Thanks everyone! I appreciate the help. I will try to get the courage up to ask how things are prepared and have the cooks go lighter on the oil or butter or whatever. This may be easier if I were alone, but there are several co-workers and clients with me and I feel like an idoit asking the server those kinds of things…
  • I am on a business trip out of town for 3 days and I have to eat both lunch and dinner at restaurants every day. (no, there's no chance to pack meals or carry a cooler). My question is - how do you know what's within your calories/fat intake in meals at a restaurant? I know it's impossible to know, but what do I eat??…
  • I also heard that spicy food up's your metabolism but I have NO idea if it's true or not. But if Chinese food is so fatty and high in calories - why the heck are Chinese/Japanese people so darn skinny?? (for the most part??)
  • I agree with gottaluvboyz - I am a social eater and a bordem eater. Unfortunately (or fortunately!) my ex-husband was a chef and went to Culinary Arts School to be trained. For many years, I got spoiled with VERY yummy food and baked goods! I also learned a lot and now can cook pretty well. I LOVE to go out to eat. I LOVE…
  • Actually, I am currently on a 10-day herbal cleanse right now. I only do them once every six months or so. But I do agree with what was already posted - up your water, cut out sugar and high fat items, and up your fiber intake. As for me, I use Advocare products. That's the brand of cleanse I'm on. But I like their…
