Even eating good healthy food, you need to learn portion size, if you haven't. Check out this guide, and I print out the wallet size version and carried around, especially help if I go out to eat without any measuring stuffs with me: http://www.webmd.com/diet/healthtool-portion-size-plate

Welcome. If you like, you can add me, and it would be great if you open up your diary (at least to friends) because it helps a lot.

Find something else to do jogging make you feel miserable. All kind of outdoor activities (someone mentioned earlier), if weather is kind over where you are. Otherwise, for indoor you can also do DVD workout: you got someone doing it with you, help time pass. For jogging, it takes time to build up. I listen to music or…

It's all different from person to person, based on you age, weight, heart rate (everyone's heart works different, even if you are the same age, height, weight). If you want to have more accurate info about your burn, get a Heart Rate Monitor. If you get a basic one to give you average heart rate, then you can plug into…

Smart Balance brand Buttery spread (http://www.smartbalance.com/), or something similar, as long as it has NO hydrogenated oils. All about reading labels

A healthy balanced meal should be more then just protein. I wouldn't replace this with a meal.

Glad that you are taking steps to getting healthier. Personally I prefer getting protein from food, not protein shake (but I do drink some protein loaded smoothie/shake from time to time, when I don't have access to a real meal, within 45 min of after workout). I've found myself can get loaded protein without need protein…

There can be healthy food choice even if you don't have time to cook. Cut your soft drinks, lay low on pizza and process food, etc. * Frozen vegi (make sure the ingredient shows it's just the vegi you are buying, no extra crap) are handy and quick to heat up * When I don't have time to cook (hubby home early to feed the…

Just keep in mind that calories in ANY alcohol are empty calories. They are easier to break down by our body than other food. Therefore when you drink and eat, your body will consume all the empty calories first. Once your body had enough calories (say most from the alcohol), it will store the good ones from the food as…

I bought the new FT7 in Jan, it counts calories. I never heard of the FT4M, you need to read their spec to make sure it has all the features you needed.

Yup, agree. Forgot to mention portion size. Whatever you eat, portion size is the most important!!!

Of course. The fat in nuts are good fat. Potato chips not good, but you can try sweet potato chips from "Food should taste good". Very good chips. I usually stick with either no salt at all, or lightly salted nuts. Found that I enjoy the flavor of any nuts when they actually don't have added salt. It's healthier for you…

How about that! My brother-in-law is a chef but he never ever cook one meal for his wife. What's up with that!

At least he cooks! My hubby can only do scramble eggs. :-)

I'm the same, but getting better control since started MFP. I found myself have better control if I eat one square slowly. Smaller bites, enjoy it longer. Once I got want I suppose to have, I walk away busy myself with something else. It seems helped.

Definitely agree. Salt is salt. Some people likes the texture of the sea salt, but how could anyone taste that, doesn't salt should be blended into food? BTW, I've been using sea salt for a long time. :-)

I saw an article about calculating how many protein, something like 0.5 to 1.0 gram per kilogram of body weight to maintain muscles; 1.5 to 2 grams if you are doing lots of weight training and want to build. Do you math to see what you need, don't rely on the MFP number.

Oh, also many types of nuts, most of them 1/4 cups will have 150 or more calories
