Yeah, a food scale makes all the difference. I picked mine up for $0.99 in a thrift store. Also, be careful not to do too much, too soon. Not sure about you, but every time I've ever "tried to get healthier (lose weight)" I started off strict and ended up either hurting myself or starting to binge when I didn't see…

I had sore knees and a whole lot of PF (plantar fasciitis) about 2 years ago. I switched to barefoot running, which forces your form towards a midfoot strike and taking it slow. I've had 0 knee and PF problems since. But yes, to heal it first (which you need to do!)... you need to rest. Try swimming, cycling at a high…

You don't need to exercise to lost weight. Focus on keep your diet where it needs to be. Maybe invest in a step tracker (I use Jawbone's UP) and try to get more activity that way (e.g., walking a little extra each day) to make sure you're not completely sedentary. Also, it sounds like you're under a lot of stress. Life is…

Is he an adult? Why don't you guys just cook separate meals? My fiance and I cook separately most times, and only come together for things we both like: pizza, grilled items, mac and cheese, etc. I make a lot of ethnic food (Thai, Mexican) and he hates veggies and strong tastes.

I was in karate until my late teens and I was in a total of 1 fight(s), where I kicked a guy in the balls after he threw a big rock and hit my friend in the head. He cried. Since then, however, the confidence and self-esteem I gained, as well as the improvements to my instincts, have gotten me out of several sticky…

I have one and it's been retired to our gimmick cabinet. Not because it wasn't awesome, but because I realized that most of their products are sweetened with Splenda, which I can't have because of my migraines. It IS an expensive upfront cost, but the "normal" flavorings aren't bad. My problem was that I needed to get the…

I haven't read the rest of the thread, only the first page, but if you make it this far and you're concerned about diabetes, you can test your A1C without a doctor. Labs will do it for ~$50.
-
Have you had your A1C checked or something? Sounds like a blood sugar issue to me. Are you getting vertigo, too?

You just made me want a doughnut in the middle of my workday. EVIL! Seriously though, doughnuts are usually not worth it, calorie wise. Good luck.

I was in an abusive, mistrusting relationship for 8 years. Long distance with bouts of short distance. Moral of the story, he got married NOT to me. Before "breaking up." I heard from a friend of a friend. During my single time, I learned there are a lot of creeps, but there are also decent people. Life is too short to be…

I'm in for 50.

Pre-log dessert calories. Remind yourself of the following: If you're set to lose 1 lb per week, that's a ~500 calorie deficit. If you go over your calories for the day, it's NOT the end of the world. In fact, if you go over by less than 500... you'll still lose weight. And if not, consider it a maintenance day and try…

Sharing this one because it's an Americana band most of you have probably never heard of... "Ghost" as performed by Red Molly; written by Mark Erelli. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FNyz8j-rudY "I need you the most When you're not around I'm in love with your ghost You're invisible now I know that it's wrong To keep…

My mom and I bond over going outlet mall shopping. I realized this spring that I no longer fit into 16s, and that was the last size in normal stores. Meanwhile, my mom fits into 8s. I was embarrassed, ashamed, and realized that I wanted to live like her, not like my disease ridden, obese relatives.

Congrats! P.S., you are very brave... cat on a leash...

Pretzel Bacon Cheeseburger... has 680 cal. Small fry (depending on day so far) has 310 cal Small coke (depending on day so far) has 140 cal. Really depends on how much I have/will exercise and whether or not I feel like eating the rest of the day. PBCB's are heavenly.

I've always heard that the best way to increase meat in the diet without it being SUPER expensive is to cook whole chickens, because they're cheapest per pound. You can stick one in a crockpot with a cut up onion and some seasonings and be good to go for a few days. I have no idea about the deal... I would never fork over…

Ah, that makes sense! Well, if that was a good dinner, by all means, enjoy it! I usually split my calories as follows: I have about 1800 a day. Breakfast: ~300-400 cal Lunch: ~400-600 Dinner: ~400-600 Snacks: ~200-400 Homemade mexican is still way less calories than restaurant mexican, so I wouldn't worry too much about it…

Why did you add a full cup of rice to your tortilla?? How the heck can you even roll it up? When I make them, I usually put a tablespoon or two of rice in with lots of meat and veggies. I usually pick one or the other for the dairy products (sour cream or cheese), too.

I have migraine and diabetes runs in my family. My migraine is being handled well, but most have found that reduction in stress and in weight can help. I'm not diabetic, or even pre-diabetic, but I could be on the path towards it if I don't start caring for my body.

I find that if I eat after 7, I see some gain in the morning. If it bothers you, just set a final time to eat each night and stick to it. That way, your morning weight will be more steady. But don't worry too much about it. Your body is just digesting, and if it hasn't fully digested last night's meal, you're going to…

Congrats on the loss!!! You look great :)

Yesterday, I was out for my morning walk in the neighborhood across the main road. On my way back, I spotted a bare-chested, mid-20s guy, very tan and with some ink. I crossed the street into my neighborhood and noticed a few minutes later that he was following me. When I noticed him, he asked, "Hey, do you smoke?" and I…

You might consider investing in an activity tracker like the JawboneUP (I have this one) or the Fitbit. It would help you get a better idea of daily calorie burn even with exercise, so if MFP is overestimating your burn, you might not really *need* to eat back the 800 cals of exercise.

Me!

That sounds delicious!

I am a barefoot runner. Before I went BF, I had shin splints, knee pain, and plantar fasciitis (not all at the same time... I was just kinda serially injured). Finding the "right" running shoes is expensive, and is often only a bandaid. I probably went through 4-5 pairs of fitted running store shoes that would work for a…
