  • You are still my inspiration and mentor and thank you for doing that. Now we have gone and brought age into it, I'm 61 and 6 months postoperative. So far weight loss has been slowing but not stalled. I'm starting to get the exercise fully implemented weight room 3 days and deep water aerobic exercise 2 days. Randy
  • Question 1 Diabetes type II could go away true. High blood pressure could go away true. Cholesterol medications could go down or away true. Thyroid the level could change your dosage but probably won't go away. During the liquid phase most Dr will have you crush them up and mixed with food or something. Some meds can't be…
  • Doria where's your difficulties exercise? Diet? Stalled? You can add me as a friend and see what I'm doing if that will help. Please give us more information.

  • Loriloftness, I have had the same thing happen to me now sweets taste different and my stomach doesn't like them. Randy
  • I'm sorry your Dr acted that way often good surgeons have 0 bedside manner. As a nurse I've had to counsel patients after the fact. h-pylori is a bacteria just like phill said the symptoms people report vary from nothing to nausea the problem is your surgery can cause the same symptoms. When Dr's don't know what to do they…
  • [quote="jrnguyen;31151324 The number of negative responses I received, and the number of "warnings" about what I could potentially be doing wrong is disheartening. Being told that I'm giving "false hope" is a slap in the face. Thank you to those of you who actually didn't twist my success into some personal attack against…
  • My Dr had me eating 5 times a day, and don't worry about calories for the first 3 months. What I was told is water is my first priority and until I could meet the 48 - 64 oz a day. Then when I was getting enough water, my new goal was getting enough protein. My surgery was in July and I still have to make sure I get enough…
  • Weight loss stalling happens for a number of reasons and we all have them from time to time. I started this WLS plan with the intention of following directions as well as possible. Having done this sense July I've lost over 90 pounds and have 15 to go. What I didn't do is weight myself except at the check ins. So if I have…
  • Thaeda, I'm with you until I reach maintenance and establish the new lifestyle, this system works. If what I was doing before surgery worked I wouldn't be here. I hope after enough time we will do things naturally, and not need to be so regimented. Randy
  • That's not a bad thing to go over once and a while. Changing it up now and then will prevent stalling. Remember you don't need forgiveness or permission for your choices. Just be happy with it and go on. You can do this and we are here to help you. Randy
  • Have a good day we are praying for you
  • It's all about the protein if you can get what you need from food by all means do so.
  • I'm also a nurse and I agree with the 8 weeks people don't realize the level of activity it takes to do our work. Also the stresses of the job won't allow you to heal as well either. Randy RN

  • This is a general rule the deal is about chemistry an how available the water is to your body. As you pointed out several things have water in them, but your digestive system has to separate the water from the other stuff before the water is available to be used by your body. Randy RN
  • Well my experience is quite different than what you had. I woke up while being moved to my room. I had discussed my tolerance to pain medication in advance, it takes a lot of it to work for me. I received oxycontin and my pain was almost gone. Knowing about the gas I got up and walked and walked some more, as a nurse I…
  • Yes I have been cold all the time
  • Your doing great thanks for posting, it's inspiring
  • I'm 6 months postoperative and can drink normally, I never did gulp before surgery. Getting my 48 oz water is definitely easier than a few months ago.
  • I'm also doing water aerobic and strength training. I expect my weight loss to stall and like you maybe gain a little. At this point we are replacing lost muscle and muscles are heavier than fat. So even though the scale is not reflecting the change in our bodies were building the fat burning machine that will provide…
  • I get scared too but this works as long as I continue to follow the directions. That said I'm going on faith and telling myself that I'm scared not to keep my new diet. Randy
  • The reason for progressing your diet slowly is to prevent problems. Puree is supposed to be without clumps that your stomach may not be ready for. Pushing to fast with your diet can make you throw up and or get a bowel obstruction, that is painful. I remember being ready for the next phase, but made myself take it slow and…
  • This is a great topic stevia is included in the artificial sweeteners list. Caffeine is a issue of its own. What happens is first your body accommodates that means you get used to the caffeine. Having got used to caffeine you need more to just be normal again. The psychological effect of drinking a coffee can imitate the…
  • Don't take me wrong here but I think you have a psychological issue going on and food is not just to sustain your body, it has more meaning than that for you. Whether it is emotion, self medicating or what. I'm glad my Dr. has a psychologist as part of the team. For me eating made me feel good, eating was my friend and…
  • It's possible that you are sensitive to the formulation, do try a different protein supplement.
  • The pre operative diet is for your own good because it will reduce your risk of problems after surgery, like less gas and bloating just to name a few. Randy RN
  • Walking is the best solution for gas and as pain goes it can be some of the worst that a person can get. Beware of the constipation that's next do ask your Dr about stool softener. The first time after surgery can get painful. Randy RN
  • That's supposed to be diddo got to love spell check LOL
  • Did do what Thaeda said. Sugars and carbohydrates (that turn into sugars) artificial sweeteners that trick the body into responding like it was sugars, And all have a negative impact on our weight loss. Hidden sugars like hi fructose corn syrup are totally forgot by many of us. We need to be diligent with reading the label.
  • Pregnant throws in a complicated diet plan, just do what your Dr recommends. Your diet plan will be a little different from every one else but you can do it. Randy RN
  • Well my answer to you is get back on the horse as they say. Water first protein next then vegetables and fruits. Exercise and build muscle along with cardio. It's not too late! You can do it and we will help.
