I live in my mother-in-law's house. She is also a diabetic... and struggling HARD with it. Still buying crappy food like chocolate and cakes and cookies. She still eats lots of carbs. Last night she made cordon bleu with pasta & sauce. She had plated everything for everyone to make it "fancy". I just quietly took my plate…

I think it's only a problem if you find yourself obsessing & stressing out over it. If you're working towards a constructive goal, it's not so bad. But if you're at the point where you're maintaining, or still trying to lose more weight to become below a healthy range, then that is bordering on an eating disorder. If it…

Some people are just plain ol' predisposed to having addictive personalities. Start by removing the alcohol from your home. When you want to have a drink, go out to a public place. Maybe spending more on a drink will limit how much you have. Additionally, it will also effect how long you have to wait until you go home. Or,…

A bad tasting liquid that results in a lower IQ? No thanks, I'll pass & keep my brain cells.

Definitely look up and see your options before you go. Know the restaurant and check the nutrition facts for what is in your calorie budget. You might think a salad is low cal, but drench it in dressing and throw croutons, bacon bits, seeds or nuts on it and it's a high calorie meal. Also, try suggesting restaurants with…

Personally, I've never been a drinker. Don't understand why anyone would find it fun.

I miss it too. I try not to drink it too much anymore. :c

No, log your exercise separately. It will adjust your calorie allowance accordingly for the day.

My motivation is actually pretty vain... so I can rub it in my fat family's faces. They keep trying to diet and failing, giving some stupid excuses when they fail. I wanna show them it can be done easily with focus and control. So far, it's been pretty easy. :)

I wanna smack myself fer sure, but only for changing my diet. I was quite confident when I was 120-125lbs. I looked great. c: Can't wait to get back to that era. On my way!

Just remember, your kids depend on you for food. The food they eat was purchased by you. Maybe a good first step would be reevaluating your grocery list.

First of all... what is causing you to wake up in the middle of the night? You might want to go have a sleep study done to see the cause of these late-night wakings. Once you're able to sleep soundly through the night, grabbing food won't be an issue any longer. Secondly, get those foods out of your house!!! If they aren't…

I know this. My partner likes to break the diet "rules" of 1200 calories all too often, and tries to encourage me into joining her. But, I just ignore it and tell her I'm trying to lose weight. Mostly it just makes me feel sad and lonely and disappointed. You have to remember that this is about YOU, and it's really a…

I have a desk job too. Just changing your diet does a lot for weight loss! Being active helps too, of course. You'll definitely see progress here!

Congrats on your first step. Really! Posting here and acknowledging you want real change is a big step! Just remember to post if you need encouragement, or reprimanding, or any kind of support! The community here will be sure to offer tips and love. And, it helps not to think of it as a diet, ever! You get to eat whatever…

Don't start drinking soda. Stay a pescatarian. If you're going to eat fast food, get a healthier option like Pollo Tropical or Subway or Panera. How did you eat all of that junk?!!?!
-
Yeah, don't think of it as a diet. You can eat whatever you want really, as long as you're under your calorie limit. Obviously you want to try to eat a balanced meal between veggies, carbs and protein, but if you want a burger, you can have one!

My family thinks it's crazy too. My mother in law is also trying to lose weight... she's on this diet that cuts out a bunch of foods, but she can eat as much as she wants. And she doesn't even stick to it really. She's over 200lbs and hasn't lost any weight yet over the past month, but I've lost some, so she can eat it! :P…

Thanks! That's helpful. We don't do too much stretching in my class. Lots of plie's and releve's. I'm always sore all over afterwards, but it feels great!

Going out is fine, as long as you plan on what you are going to eat before you get there. There are several restaurants that offer plates of 500 calories or less. I always make sure to look up portions & calories for plates at a restaurant before going, and plan to go somewhere that I can "afford" to (in calories).

Thin mints are the best! The only desserts I buy now though are 100 cals or less.
