  • So, I'm talking to a co-worker about our nutty scales and how the first number is always a few pounds heavier, then the next several times offer a lower, consistent number. I decided to search the web and see if anyone else is having that happen, and here I am back at MyFitnessPal. Whew. Glad to know it's not just us.
  • I try short-term challenges, like tracking perfectly or not missing a workout for a full month. I talk up those challenges to my friends via Facebook and my blog, too, and that keeps me accountable. It's tough to stay motivated forever, but most people can stay on target for a few weeks at a time. Good luck.
  • Can you tell I used to co-own and moderate a political message board? We saw all the tricks. *grin*
  • Yeah, I see what you did there. You selectively edited the quote so it would agree with what you want to believe. But here is the entire quote: You want someone to validate your choices, but that's not likely to happen when the choices seem unhealthy to the rest of us. I wish you good luck on your journey, but I won't…
  • I have a kick *kitten* tattoo just above my heart. It's two dog tags, one that matches the dog tags I wore in the Marine Corps and the other a rainbow flag. It's amazing... and it was rarely seen by anyone because I didn't feel comfortable taking my shirt off. So, that's my selfish, shallow reason. I wanted to take my…

Where else have you lived? Florida, Hawaii, Korea, Germany (Marine Corps duty stations) 4a. What is your current occupation?…
  • I'm all about the short challenges, but I don't know what the 21 Day Challenges are. Working on my own "Perfect August" challenge right now (http://bit.ly/17vQOE4). John
  • Normal Heights here. Run many a mile through North Park and Normal Heights. And I work out at Boulevard Fitness on El Cajon. If there's a local running event happening (Costume Half Marathon, Beer Run, Aloha Run, etc), odds are good I'm there. Nice to "meet" my fellow locals. John www.runner12.com
  • This pic cracks me up. Thanks for the laugh. (Honestly, I've watched it a dozen times and I'm still chuckling.)
  • I agree, the original question asked to talk about specific people and repeat the things they said. That's very different than this question, which asks about the "why." And to answer that, I'd say there are many different reasons people talk trash about others. Mostly, though, they are insecure and think the best way to…
  • I just blogged about this yesterday (http://bit.ly/15BOTCs). No, you are not too heavy. Get started and believe that you can do it! John
