I know what you mean, usually i will "reward" myself when i've burned a lot of calories and it doesn't make much of a difference.

Could have probably pulled one of your QL (quadratus lumborum) muscles, or even messed up your sciatic nerve (this is more of a deep pain) rest as much as possible even though you want to work out, stretching is good but not too much.
