It's hard as a novice when you ask for help from a trained individual. You are putting yourself in the position of needing help and they sometimes somewhat lord it over you. Next time your mantra should be "I'm following a proven program (as it is designed)".... "Thanks for your help with my form". You will know when it's…

Thank you Dragonwood!! I appreciate your insights! Having my BP checked again today but don't expect anything great due to having a cold.

Sweet potato anything!!!

Last month was a total bust so this month I'm: 1. Looking to maintain 2. Strive for as many workouts as is feesible due to travel and family commitments. No metrics... 3. Research 5-3-1 Success = no weight gain over the holidays!

Good idea. I can at least check it at the pharmacy... Also checked my resting again and it's 84. Somehow that just seems better than 90 lol!

Having groceries in the house is critical! So glad I went to the store and have my freezer and fridge stocked to make good healthy meals now! Seriously cuts back On temptation to fill in with any bit of junk/snackage that might be hanging about the kitchen.

I'm new here so hi! I went off the rails in November a bit with 2 kids birthdays, nursing/caring for two family members in the hospital and then a week out of town for Thanksgiving. Doubly convinced that primal/paleo is indeed my preferred eating style after that! Breakfast this morning started me out on the right track…

Don't worry about the trainers approving what you do. Study the form in video as suggested and you will be fine! When I first started I would watch the videos before each set to try to engrain the form in my mind. Hey! You might be able to break some stereotypes and inspire some of the other ladies! Have fun!

Definitely leaning out! Great work!

I reccommend a "program" also but in addition if you are just starting out and your workout leaves you debilitated then reduce your reps and don't do things like "work till failure". No pain no gain is a myth. I rarely get sore unless I really overdo it. You can do an effective, tough workout without feeling like you are…

Hi Kimberly! No soup ideas but I have been loving stuffed acorn squash these days...yum! If you find a good one do please share though.

Yep, I 3rd the tight pecs and weak scapular issues. I'm stretching my pecs and doing airplanes and prone dumbbell lying on my side.... (can't remember name of it) at the end of my workouts to try to fix this. It has helped in the past when working with PT.

My mom's surgery was successful!

Dawn you look beautiful and strong!

Would you like me to make you feel better? When I started with the oly bar I wasn't even sure how to get it from the floor up to the pegs to do my squats. I too started out with db. You'll be fine and will get the hang of things quickly!

I'm a novice according to standards and have been lifing heavy for under a year so take this with a grain of salt(what the heck does that even mean?! going to have to google it) I was making very slow to no progress and someone suggested on my FL to check out programs with less volume. I then read the sticky here on what…

Awesome videos ladies! Thanks for sharing. Loved the bearded dude! I found his explanation of bar path clearer than Rippetoe's. My rather large deload a few months ago was due in large part to not previously following the full/appropriate range of motion that these videos demo. A learning process to be sure... 2nd week of…

Dang psych! Nice work! Most I follow your post? All 3x5: (so far am enjoying this framework) Lots of warmup sets too lazy to post... Squat 85 (up 5#'s) OHP 50 (also up) DL 130# (up again) Improved range of motion on all lifts since I began in March=makes these lifts much harder!
-
Started 3x5 at 80% 1RM today because of slow to nonexistent progress on 5x5 SQUAT 80 BP 60 PR 60 So nice to get through in enough time to do accessories: Good mornings RDL Bridges Various back isolation work
-
Hmmm...nothing too ambitious but I'll put a few goals out there: 1. Continue deficit until Thanksgiving (U.S.), hopefully losing enough to drop below 130 then relax a bit to enjoy the feast! 2. Start (as of today!) with 3x5 and finally fit in the accessories I need to do and move up a little. That's all I think. No real…

Oh gosh me too fanncy! I've tried the all things in moderation tact and make almost zero progress. If I want to cut I must really cut out all of that stuff. Hopefully it will be temporary once I get to my desired BF %.
-
This was very helpful for me also as I feel like I'm hitting a wall also. Thanks for the good discussion!
-
I'm 45 will be 46 in December and am 5'3". I was (still some BF to go) overweight so eating in a deficit has been key for me to see changes. I don't eat enough protein most of the time which is a problem but I'm trying. You will not grow big muscles in a deficit but you WILL uncover them if you are able to eat at a…

Hmmm forgot about several of these.. 1. Doing well here 2. Pretty good here also. Down 3#'s 3. Some 4. Nope 5. Nope

It is a brand of natural (pork) desiccated thyroid. It's most well known here in states as Armour brand. I use NatureThyroid brand. Ask your doctor. Hopefully it is available to you!
-
1. There is an awesome hypothyroidism group here. Go to the home page on your PC and search for it. 2. Also go to the MFP announcement threads and read. There is a ton of good info there to get you started. 3. Try cutting out or at least back processed food from your diet. That alone is a great way to start. 4. Make sure…

A day off to catch up around the house. Praise God for the small things! Lol!

You look terrific Sumi!! I am similar age and height as you. I've got more to lose though! (SW 155,CW 135, GW 120) I finally found a deficit (1300-1400) and eating style that works for me. I also can't wait to get to either recomp or reverse diet! You'll be there before you know it!
