hmm, so it sounds like I can't ask people to wait for me, since I'm doing a little circuit (for example, bench press, squats, then rows), but as soon as I'm off my first set and go to do my next thing, someone else will jump on and start occupying for the next however long. Is it typical to just do all your squats in…

Agreed! He really might be fishing for reassurance. Maybe he really does miss you when you're working out. Maybe he's not ready to get into it himself yet, but doesn't like being left behind either. Get to the root of the problem. People saying "I'd never put up with that" or "you should lawyer up, hit the gym, leave him,…

you should google Chocolate Covered Katie - she has delicious recipes for low-ish calorie single serving chocolately desserts. I used to make her chocolate oatmeal regularly and it definitely kept me away from ice cream and the like!

Booo! Back fat is my bane.

Something to try that has worked for me - metamucil. You know the powder that you mix in with water? Basically, once you start taking it at the same time every day your movements get REALLY predictable. I used to drink a glass of water with a scoop of that stuff every night before bed. After about of week of consistently…

The concept of whooshing...I'm so curious. That happens to me too. I literally show no progress for all my hard work all month (this morning my weight was higher than at the beginning of the month) and then one day it will drop and my "total weight lost from start weight" will creep downwards. Then, I gain again for…

You're gorgeous and have amazing hair! And that was before your amazing weight loss! Congrats girlie.

Congrats! Very inspiring!

Dude... I dunno. Similar problems in my camp. I'm operating at what should mathematically be an appropriate deficit. Yet, I do not lose lbs. The only time I've ever had success losing weight consistently was when I ate 1400, exercised off about 300 per day and netted 1100-1200-ish. I was miserably hungry though...I think…

Spark people has tons of great FREE videos you can watch and do in your living room! Also, as a large-bra wearer, I have to say you CAN get support from doubling up regular bras and then wearing a "support top" shirt (which is not supportive enough on its own). It's an imperfect solution, but something to get you by. I…

that really hurts my ego :embarassed:

I gotta say...stay AWAY from Remeron (mirtazapine). That stuff actually actively causes increased insulin resistance and deposition of abdominal fat. I cannot believe my Dr ever thought that was appropriate for someone already struggling with weight. Oh and for citalopram...libido crashes are a super common side effect!! A…

My routine does vary a ton...which might be part of my malfunction. Probably should get myself on a better regimen. I don't have a fitbit but I've been wondering if I should. Or it might be good to get my RMR calculated and then maybe my VO2max as well. Could be helpful? It is hard for me to estimate how much moving I do…

Using heybales spreadsheet I get TDEE 2205 but the calories to consume ranges from 1596 (if lifting heavy weights, which I'm not) up to 1965 (if very obese, which I feel like I am, but not sure). The 20% cut from that TDEE would be 1764...which is pretty much in the neighborhood that I've been aiming for for since about…

Wow...that's pretty cool actually. I would like to weight train a bit more and do a "rest" type of diet, but I'm so afraid. Of gaining. Which seems to happen very easily. I'll look more into what a reset entails and see if that might be an option though. It feels very much like everything I do it a mis-step. I've gotten…

Yeah, you're right...last week I had one really high day and a bunch of 1600-1700 days. Shouldn't that all "shake out" though? I always think if you have a bad day you should compensate to help fix it. I'm not very good at logging on the weekends either :( This is probably all my own fault. Just feels like I already work…

This week I spent Monday through Wednesday trucking 30 miles through the Mojave desert looking for tortoises (for work). Literally walked for 8 hrs straight every day. Drank a lot of water and gatorade, but didn't log anything (because I was in the middle of the desert, but also because I had NO clue how to log that). I'm…

Yeah...I don't think I should be gaining either. It's really frustrating. I've run the numbers in a lot of places and they come out anywhere from 1750-1950 for "lightly active". Funny thing is, I tried eating 2000 calories per day for a while and I wasn't gaining weight. But not losing either. I don't log my exercise…

You're smart... I need to learn some control like that!! It's too easy to fall into an "F-it! Ima have a burger! And wine! And cheesecake! Well, maybe half a cheesecake! Spiltsies?!" attitude when on vacation.
-
Same here!! It's like it just ruins your control. I also felt sluggish and really hated my first 2-3 workouts after getting back. Really tough to get back in the swing of things!!
-
I went on a 1.5 week vacation/work trip. Got some workouts in and was pretty active. Didn't count calories, but also tried not to eat like a fool. Drank too much wine maybe! Gained 8lbs in as many days!! Got right back on track with exercise and portion control. Managed to get rid of almost 3 of those lbs in first few days…

Everyone's different. I am famished immediately when I wake up. I have friends who don't eat until 9 or 10am after they've settled in at work. They take keep yogurt or fruit or hard eggs or oatmeal everyday. Pack it like they do a lunch.

I feel your pain buddy. I too have been increasing my "daily activities" for a long time. I try not to sit at night (since I sat all day). Take frequent walks. Walk or workout almost every day of the week. It is hard for me to grasp the concept of doing less when I thought I was making healthy lifestyle changes all along.…

my hips and bust went down about 3/4" each over the past several weeks. Slow progress is still progress. Waiting for my waist to get the memo...

My sister takes it. She says it gives her rapid heart beat...I don't think it sounds like a good idea. She also has gained back all the weight during the months where she doesn't take it. Basically, it's hard on your body, so you have to take a "drug holiday" for a few weeks (or over a month) before you can take it again.…

There's a bodpod here in Portland for 40$...thinking it might be beneficial!

That's what I'm doing too! Figure I've been eating up around 1900-2000 for 3 months. I can cut back and see what happens. Good to know I can maintain at that much. Hopefully I can work on slowly upping my metabolism with eating for future me.
