Weight loss is non-linear, give it longer, don't weigh yourself everyday and the scale lies. Your body will change and those changes will not always be reflected on the scale.

Generally speaking, there is wide variation of course based on metabolism/activity/etc., under 50g is where ketosis can start. That's an average, it can be as low as 20 or as high as 75 depending on the factors. However, weight loss is really about calories in vs. calories out, lower carb diets can help but are not…

Yes it's possible. You could try using keto test strips to find out for sure.

How long has he been losing at that rate? It's very common to loose a lot of water weight in the beginning of a low carb diet in addition to muscle glycogen.

Actually, this happened to us during our first pregnancy. She actually lost weight (around 10-15 pounds) and continued to have her monthly cycle, it was a little lighter than usual but but still present. She never had any morning sickness, back pains or other issues or discomforts. We never knew until she started feeling…

You could look at a program like "You Are Your Own Gym". There is both the book and an App. Very little equipment required as it's almost all body weight.

Take a look at "You are your own gym" . Mostly body weight and minimal to no equipment .

No choice you must break up with her.

Eating small meals does not appreciably increase your metabolism. The thought behind it is that the thermic effect of food (TEF), that is the temporary boost that your metabolism gets from eating because digestion requires energy, will increase your overall metabolism. Unfortunately it does really work like that. TEF…

Perhaps your goal is wrong. Using weight as a measure of success can backfire as it's not necessarily representative of health, it's just a number the scale gives you when you stand on it which is comprised of water, bone, muscle, fat, what you had for lunch and other things. Why not look at your body composition, your…

Unless you ate 3500 calories above your maintenance every day for the last several days then you're fine and the gain you see is water weight. It's temporary , get back on it and don't beat yourself up.

To lose weight you have to have a deficit. High carb, low carb or whatever else there is are a means of generating a deficit. There's no way around it.
-
Did you read the article? I think you're getting to hung up on the phrase "starvation mode." You are correct, what she describes is not "starvation mode" , she uses the term in the colloquial fashion; as it's often used when referring to when dieting and such. Of course she has the site to sell her book and her services,…

Also, the scale often lies. Are your clothes fitting better? Weight may not change on the scale even when body composition does. Have you measured your body fat % or taken your measurements to compare against?
-
Are you measuring/weighing everything? If you make your food diary public, someone might be able to spot something.
-
Well no they don't go into "starvation mode" in the sense that you see in the pics you've posted but they do have metabolic adaptations that make weight loss more difficult after prolonged deficits which can cause plateaus. And given that her research has between 200 and 300 research and study citations validating her…

A pound of muscle weighs the same as a pound of fat. Unless the OP is lifting regularly and getting newbie gains, then this is unlikely. ETA: In any event, no muscle gains are going to occur at that large of a deficit.

sometimes I use red bell peppers with the end(s) cut off when I don't want bread to hold my burgers, works okay for other sandwiches also.

I avoid all the stuff I hate, like slimy things and crap that tastes bad.

Doctors are great at diagnosing illnesses and have education in many areas of human physiology but are not dietitians and so may not always be the best resource for information about nutrition and diet.

Exercise and count it as a re-feed day. Don't stress out about it and do better tomorrow.

Advocare is an Multilevel Marketing company like Amway. They sell their products through "independent" distributors who also then try to recruit you to pay more money, often hundreds of dollars, to sell the products. Their responses are usually scripted canned responses and taught to them by whoever got them to sign up to…

Hopefully she decides to let some come back. If I saw her in line at a Starbucks, I'd cringe a little and wonder if she was ill.

IMO she looked completely unhealthy and I don't think she deserved to win. Sure it's a game show about weight loss but if that's the weight loss their promoting and celebrating then the show needs to go or they need to revamp it; it really needs to promote a healthy lifestyle in conjunction with the weight loss. She went…

Absolutely, I can't agree more but less movement also means less need for carbs and lower caloric requirements. Can you lose weight without restricting carbs? Sure, I lost 150lbs doing just that and increasing my activity significantly. But it may be easier for many folks to keep a lower carb diet for a variety of reasons.…
