  • I just say I’ve already eaten. Would you feel guilty for turning down alcohol when you know you have to drive? If someone offered you drugs and you said no...would you feel bad? You’re just trying to be healthy and take care of yourself. There is no shame in that.
  • I do this often, sometimes even tracking a few days ahead. It helps me balance my macros. I adjust my daily menu to get as close to my macros as I can for training purposes.
  • I wasn't talking about convicts and their training methods. There is a specific training program created by Paul Wade called "Convict Conditioning" that is strictly body weight. It is designed to get someone fit and healthy. No, it likely won't get you ready for a body building competition but it will allow you to get…
  • Often, when you begin to lose weight, it is noticeable in your face. People have seen you the way you were for so long that it can be a shock to suddenly see a different face looking at them. Keep doing what you're doing and let the comments slide.
  • Honestly, we are not doctors. My shoulder felt better until it didn't...then I developed a frozen shoulder and eventually had surgery. It's really up to you but I would speak with your physician.
  • Have you had it looked at to find out if you have a tear of some sort? If you have had lingering issues for a year, it is worth talking to your doctor. A physical therapist would be a good idea as well. Without knowing exactly what is wrong, you may be making the problem worse by self-treating.
  • There are some games still scheduled in the mid-west and south for this year. It's just too far to travel. Two of the biggest games in the US, NH Highland Games and Grandfather Mountain, cancelled for the first time in their history this year.
  • This is the easiest way to do it...put your bowl on a scale with a tare function. Add the first ingredient and note the weight, log it. Leave the bowl in place. Hit "tare" to zero out the weight and add the next ingredient, log it. Continue this process until you have entered all of the items you are adding to your salad…
  • I have three friends who were supposed to compete in the Masters Championships in Ireland but it was cancelled because of Covid.
  • I've thought about a motorcycle gang but every name I come up with just sounds wrong. I can't imagine a leather jacket with a big skull and the words "Sausage Hogs" or "Pepperoni Riders".
  • If I have time to cook, I like grits and eggs with a bit of cheddar cheese or a ham and vegetable scramble. Sometimes, it is a whole grain toasted English muffin topped with half an avocado and two fried eggs. In a hurry, one wedge of laughing cow cheese on an English Muffin with some deli meat does the trick.
  • I think it depends on the person. I like MFP and it works for me. My best friend lost 82 pounds on WW and has been successfully in maintenance for a year. Just do what works for you.
  • The safe approach is to listen to your doctor and avoid it until your body has completely healed. BJJ requires you to use your core. Opponents can unintentionally cause you harm. Don’t take the risk of injury.
  • Especially the ones you didn't know you were in on apparently. Had I know about this seven years ago, I would have avoided all that sneaky sugar and just ate the sausage calzones.
  • I love that someone felt the need to disagree that I gained weight eating savory and fatty foods. I don't have such an overwhelming need to prove that sugar isn't the enemy that I would make up stories about how my ars got so big. I've been here 7 years...trust me, I was fat when I started and it wasn't sweets. It was…
  • I believe Tim Noakes is the coauthor of The Obesity Code...with Dr. Jason Fung. That explains just about everything we need to know about that argument.
  • Ok, now we're getting somewhere. Losing weight has to do with calories in versus calories out. Eat less than you burn. Start with your food intake...that is where the 20 pounds is going to come from not from the exercise you do. Are you logging all your food and weighing it? Trust me, jumping in to do workouts that burn…
  • Again, you didn't answer the question of what your fitness goals are. Do you think burning 600 calories will make you lose weight faster...gain muscle faster...what is it that you are trying to accomplish? It sounds like what you have been doing is working for you. Why not continue with what you are doing but maybe…
  • What I really meant was, what is your fitness goal...why do you think 600 calories is the magic number that will help you reach your goals? Personally, if I were new to fitness and endurance, I would not go straight to 600 calories as my goal. It takes some serious working out to burn 600 calories in one session for a…
  • Why is 600 calories your magic number?
  • No one eats sugar in "sensible" amounts in the US is a pretty sweeping comment. 2/3 of the population are overweight because they overeat. I eat very little sugar and yet, gasp, I became overweight. I became overweight because I ate too much of what others call "real" food. I don't particularly like pastries. I don't eat…
  • I am sorry for your losses. That is simply unimaginable. As an infant, my son was diagnosed with galactosemia. It is a disease that prevents the body from processing galactose. Galactose is a toxin to the body which can cause liver failure, kidney failure, brain damage, cataracts, and death. Girls with the disease most…
  • My best friend lost 82 pounds on WW and has kept it off for more than a year. She used only WW and never counted her calories, still doesn't in maintenance.
  • Convict fitness is strictly progressive body weight exercises and builds some serious muscle.
  • Muscle can definitely be built with body weight.
  • I do a number of things. I do My Peak Challenge and DDPY yoga for at home work outs. DDPY requires a mat (a rug will do if that's all you have) and a yoga block is helpful. I highly recommend both programs.
  • Banana with peanut butter...I could eat it all day long.
