Best thing after surgery for recovery is making sure you get plenty of protein in your diet. Helps your body repair.

Missed you. Sounds like you are doing super well. Congrats on 100 lbs. down. That is HUGE in terms of your health risks. Doing a happy dance for you 💃💃💃💃 I'm working on year three of maintenance, and so glad I went lchf/keto. Fasting keeps me well below my original goal weight now, so I am a happy camper.

The website ruledme.com has some good food plans for vegan and vegetarian low carbers. Might want to check it out.

You need to make this request over at : https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/categories/website-suggestions-feedback We can't do anything with the suggestions, the web designers need to know this is being requested. But don't hold your breath in getting a reply quickly.

Keto is 20 grams, low carb is anywhere from there to 100 grams. Different people have different tolerances. dietdoctor.com has great infographs of how many carbs are in foods. Be sure to check those out. https://www.dietdoctor.com/low-carb/fruits#similar

Do not concentrate on calories, keep carbs low, get enough protein, and fat to satiety. If you are doing this for weight loss primarily, give your body a chance to use up all the stored fat in your body. It can only put so many calories a day, but if you have a lot to lose, it will pull them easily from your body. Here is…

Another rare lover here, just about any beef rare will do me just fine. I love sirloin as fajitas just leave them on the grill long enough to warm slightly, only way I will do sirloin now. I like the fatter steaks best.

So how is it going? Did the egg fast work or did you call it quits or add some ground beef??? Don't leave us hanging. We need a report :)

To me the advantage of being fat adapted is my body can finally burn up that fat it stored from a meal I ate in the past. tcunbeliever did a great job of explaining things. I have days when I eat up to 75 net carbs and other days when 5 carbs are enough. It is great to go back and forth. I have lost the weight I wanted to…

I love my stepper in the winter, and I have strength training gear, TRX and regular stretchy bands. They really help me when it is just too cold outside to even take a walk. We live in an area where kids do come around, so I had to sort out something that didn't involve candies. If it is warm weather, rare but it does…

Janet, I'm in maintenance now but when I got to the last few lbs. I did serious fasting, and to keep myself in my range, I like to stay 3 lbs.under my goal wieght, I do ADF now. It is one of the easier fasting protocols. So happy you are seeing good consistant weight losses. Also glad you feel better this way as well.

How did I even miss this post????? I did read the other post and it sounds like you are on the right path. A big welcome back.

Seniors in general seem to not get enough Vitamin D. I use it along with the vitamin Ks. I'm taking it for my CAC score (325), which placed me in the midrange health risk for CAD. Taking a few other things too, will retest in the spring at the same facility and see if I have reversed or halted the growth. I need the…

@Itreadlightly, thanks for posting about electric bikes. I keep seeing more of them around and while I love the idea of biking our area is very hilly, and I just walk instead of biking. I will have to look into them more.

New resource. I really like this video from SilverSneakers. It is about releasing tension so you can move better. https://tinyurl.com/y23yvpw7

@geraldaltman. welcome back. It is always great to read about someone who is healthier now than when they were younger. Glad to hear you got your smile back. You mentioned your A1C was lowered, what did you do to get that moving downwards?

This is all I know :) https://www.blogs.va.gov/VAntage/58037/innovative-treatment-vets-type-2-diabetes/ The full guidelines for 2017 mentions Med. diet but also this: 15% would be good, not so sure about the 45%, I think Dr. Sears would be happy with these guidelines.

@Emmapatterson1729 You skin looks fabulous. Congrats on your successes.

Ya, baggie dress is a REAL PROBLEM, we all wish we had. Time to find a new favorite, smaller one or a good tailor to cut it down for you. :)

So glad you got a dr. who is up on current VA guidelines for diebetics, too many are not. VA is even working with Dr. Stephen Phinney's company now. 6.1 is borderline, so keep those carbs down there. They are sneaky and add up quickly. Love the pic of you and your dog. Take him out on more walks, Maybe get him a frisbee to…

How are you doing Denise? This forum has been extremely slow for a while now. Hope you have connected with some active MFPals.

I like the slimmer version, angle hair, the thicker version not so much. The rice is my absolute favorite.

Love hearing all the non scale victories. Mine is, I have been keto long enough now that I never track my food anymore. I always hated doing it, but did because how else are you gonna know what you ate? Now I know what to eat, how much (I still use my digital scale, and most importantly for me, when to eat.

So how is it going? Still seeing good results?
-
@wandakc Glad to hear you are losing. And balance is a biggie as we get older. Hope you continue to gain muscle strength in the areas that support the knees. I saw on the newsfeed you are going to self monitor here and save that monthly fee. I think that is a good plan. I can not eat the way WW says you should. As soon as…

I love lamb kebabs and those look delicious Malimalai.

I just don't like the texture nor the flavor of flaxseeds, I tried using them in my early keto days, but stopped. I get omega 3 from fish oil, since it contains the needed EPA and DHA, while flax doesn't. I am trying to keep omega 6 as low as possible too.
