I've come to realize that if I don't log my "overages", then I'm basically lying to myself (and others, since my diary can be viewed by friends). Why only document the days when you are on point and totally ignore the days you miss the mark? Be real about what you eat, then you can be real about your habits and the…

Thanks for this recipe. I'll likely omit the meat, but this sounds really good!

Hey Folks! I have an MA in Intercultural Studies, and am in my second year of an MA Counseling Psychology program. I feel better prepared for this second degree, seeing as this isn't my first rodeo. But it'd be good to connect with others who want to live well and excel academically. Feel free to add me!

I just started juicing on Saturday afternoon when my Breville Juice Fountain Compact arrived ($99 on Amazon). I've only enjoyed it for three days so far, and I can say that I absolutely love it. The machine is very powerful, and the pulp is not wet when I finish, so I know I am getting a decent amount of juice. I am slowly…

Actually, a few prophets and leaders in the Bible have done extended fasting (e.g., 40 days): Moses, Elijah, King David, Daniel (partial fast), etc. While I cannot attest to the medical benefits of extended JUICE fasting, I can say that the sacrifice of fasting in general -coupled with prayer -can have tremendous spiritual…

For cholesterol: Don't just look at your overall fat intake... monitoring your Saturated Fat intake can do wonders! Saturated fat appears in a number of foods such as cookies, cakes, cheeses, etc. Also, I agree with those who have suggested eating more fiber rich foods, including oatmeal, whole grains, and even drinking…

It was Janet Jackson's "The Pleasure Principle" until Whitney Houston passed. Now it's "The Star Spangled Banner". Kinda strange for a ringtone...

I've also told a few people about this site, and they usually respond with excitement. Then they never log in or use it! I've heard the following excuses: "I want to lose weight, but I'm not ready to start an intense diet". First of all, MFP is not a diet. Second of all, I have not really lost much weight on here, but this…

I'm not one of those people that cries "RACISM" whenever someone of color is mistreated. But the truth is that people are misunderstood because of their ethnic background. Race, ethnicity, and culture DO actually play a part in how people communicate. Yes, Conda and Kim have nasty attitudes and would have treated anyone…

I also hadn't really thought about it, but I guess I want a nice badass leather motorcycle jacket.

This assumes that everybody doesn't like turkey bacon. Some folks actually do.

Hola! Mine is an interpretation of Isaiah 64:6 and a play on the phrase "Rags to Riches".

Hola! I also re-started C25K this week. When I did the program before, I was really inconsistent and stopped at week 4. I walked/jogged my first 5K on Thanksgiving morning, and while my time wasn't impressive, I am happy to say that I have caught the running bug. I plan on actually completing this round of C25K and doing…

You go, boy! This is something to be proud of.

Sometimes people want to serve you as a way to bless you. However, I think a polite way to avoid this is to let them know that you are monitoring your calories (which is technically true, ) and ask if they wouldn't mind you making your own plate. Even if they've already made the plate without you knowing, you can…

Yay! I fell in love with hummus when I traveled in the Middle East. You can actually do a lot with it, including eating it on a sandwich or as a dip with vegetables. I've also made my own pita chips by cutting whole wheat pita and baking them. Voila... you've got a low fat snack!

Thanks so much for the love! This is the type of thing that makes me want to continue to move forward. Slow and steady WILL win this race.
