I remember you posting that on the bagels vs donuts thread. :)

My husband and I will finally be eligible for vaccines on April 1. I am hoping like crazy that the appointment website criteria will actually be updated first thing April 1 and not just give the old criteria.

https://www.nbcsandiego.com/news/national-international/you-dont-have-to-be-vaccinated-to-get-free-krispy-kreme-doughnut/2560977/ Waiting for folks to start arguing about whether Krispy Kreme donuts are the best ever or are disgusting or whether they would rather get free bagels

My mom said that she didn’t even feel it either time.

Here is some news on research on the latest treatments and developing another vaccine This is from biospace.com, I had to shorten the link. https://bit.ly/31gDVDj

My mom got her second Moderna shot a week ago. No reaction to either shot. She’s 95. My aunts and uncle had no reactions either (all in their 90s). Who knows, Mom could go back to teaching piano in the near future when her students get vaccinated. She has taught for nearly 60 years but stopped after the pandemic started.

Instead of the mRNA coding for the COVID spike protein, it would code for a protein that cancer cells make, so the immune response would attack those cancer cells, although there are other ways also used (involving making changes to some immune cells) so that the immune system acts more strongly.…

Yeah - some folks want there to be a 100% guarantee that if they get the vaccine, they will automatically have a viral load of 0 and have 0% chance of spreading the virus. If they don't have that guarantee, they say No.

Close - the difference is that there aren't any eggs in the filling https://divascancook.com/sugar-cream-pie-recipe-hoosier/

When I lived in Indiana, I had sugar cream pie for the first time. It was so good! Is that strictly Indiana?

Not to mention various styles of chili itself (beans, no beans, type of meat, type of seasoning, etc.)

Oh yes, I've known it as honeycomb candy. I love it although it's impossible to get it off my teeth!

I'm in Los Angeles and used to see on menus tomato-based clam chowder called "Manhattan clam chowder." I have no idea what people who live there would think. Anyway, I didn't like that type as well. And I have trouble finding a version here that has more clams than potatoes. Cheapskates.

Your immune system isn't a force field preventing the virus from entering your body in the first place, so if you're exposed, some virus will get into your system, so you would be "carrying" some virus. But your immune system after you're vaccinated goes after the virus when it gets into your body, and blocks it as much as…

Family gatherings again after we all get vaccinated (so far everyone in my family 65+ years has gotten vaccinated). Running a marathon in person! Los Angeles Marathon has been rescheduled to November 7.
-
That makes sense. My husband is determined to get it and isn't worried about paying. We just wondered if he'd need a doctor's referral to get it at all.
-
Would just anyone who suspects they had COVID-19 be able to get it or would you have to be a long hauler (still feeling sick)? My husband strongly suspects that he had it in January 2020 but didn’t qualify for testing at the time.
-
Same with my mom (95) and aunt (90) - barely any reaction. I hope that they ARE responding.
-
How sick were they? severe symptoms, mild, none?

Actually, Zostavax just got discontinued in the US (don't know about elsewhere) - Shingrix is the one being given. https://www.singlecare.com/blog/shingrix-vs-zostavax/ https://www.cdc.gov/shingles/vaccination.html

So far it doesn't appear to be widespread but I suspect they have to do more testing/sequencing to know for sure https://www.mercurynews.com/2021/01/07/cdc-reports-22-california-cases-of-coronavirus-variant-first-identified-in-uk/ Most likely the spread is from the holiday family and friend gatherings (as was mentioned…

Thanks so much! This means that my sister should get it soon. Although she is concerned and wants to wait for more data and is fine being somewhat of a hermit. I hope she DOES get it soon.

I talked to Mom about the vaccine (94, diabetes type 2 controlled with metformin) and she figures that she's fine, she doesn't go out anymore and doesn't spend time with people Oh yeah?? Me and my husband? we could well pass it to her because we're the end of the line as far as vaccines The rest of the family? Will she no…
