Nice bike, never been a mtb rider, been thinking of giving it a go.living in the city makes it hard to get to good trails, would need another bike as well.

GCN's Emma Pooley, ex pro and world champion time trialist said she never had a bike fit until she joined GCN. I will eventually get a power meter but ill get a Retul bike fit first.
-
You are still estimating with a power meter though to a much lesser extent as you are making an assumption on efficiency of 25%, people are going have different efficiencies. You are still estimating when it comes to the other side of the equation anyway which is calories in. Unless you eat pre-packaged food most of the…

11 hours 261Km for may. Winter is coming.. this afternoon apparently.
-
Makes a big difference, though when you get on a bike without clipless it feels all weird. Watch out for the first clip stack. I went a couple of months before i had two in the same week.
-
Just compensate, I skip part of my breakfast before the ride and have a croissant afterwards with the coffee. I have a cyclic fly12 camera, it overlays that info in conjunction with strava.

I go on group rides and enjoy the social aspect of the ride, we always finish at a café for coffee. Just need to keep the food in check if you are looking to lose…

Im in again, ill target 600Km again, starting to get cold round here. Getting tougher to get out the door in the morning. 3hrs/72km so far this month. Ive created a cycling thread in fitness and exercise as this challenge gets reset every month. I thought it might be useful to have a ongoing thread to discuss cycling.…

First club ride finally done, managed to wake up @5:30am . 11Hrs 255Km for March.
-
4hrs 94km for march so far, avoiding hills atm though.
-
Riding mostly on the flat since i got back on the bike 3 months ago, started doing some hill training, couple of 1km hills at 8%, had to miss riding today because the back of my left knee is painful and I thought i should rest it. I have made adjustments to seat height and position. Hopefully I can remedy it without a full…

23hrs 490Km for Feb.
-
wow, impressive. my inability to transform myself into a early morning person have limited me to 20hrs 438km so far this month.
-
15hrs 318km so far, getting variety just seems to get me tangled with stop-start traffic.. I need to move to somewhere quieter or get up before dawn.
-
im in again, will still target 600km, though i will be trying to add variety to my rides, means riding more in with cars.... 10 hrs 221Km so far
-
35 hrs, 631Kms in Jan for me.

I wouldn't mind trying Zwift, the initial set up cost is quite high and puts me off in case I don't like it. Jan Strava 22hrs 447Km, off to New Zealand tomorrow for a week, includes riding the Otago rail trail for four days, that should add a few slow k's.
-
I'll aim for 600km this month. Riding with my wife today, got distracted, hit a hard edge and became well acquainted with a section of asphalt. Luckily it was low speed so only a bunch of grazes down my left side. Jan 2018 5hrs 93 km

500km on the bike in december, last time i would have done that would have been 41years ago :o
-
Dec: 24 hrs 503Km on Strava :) Happy new year everyone.
-
19 hours 394 km, im missing 2 rides on strava when my gps died, would have been a lot easier to get to 500 with them, but if its not on strava it didnt happen
-
edit: I see my ride added to exercise but nothing shows up on feed.
-
just found this thread, q you guys might be able to answer, do you see your Strava entries on your news feed? I just my ride added to exercise but nothing shows up on feed. FWIW Dec Strava has me on 14 hours, 283Km

Folks you just have to TRY (a little bit harder) ... apologies to Janis Joplin. I discovered these a couple of years ago and I think the are so good I have eaten them at least 5 days a week since( OCD and i work at home). Here's what I do. Open the packet and dump the noodles in a collander and wash them thoroughly. I then…

This happened to me, i was diagnosed pre-diabetic and prescribed Metformin. I was not over weight but unfortunately have a family history of diabetes so I have a genetic predisposition. I did a bit of research and discovered that having a larger muscle mass can help so i set my self a resistance exercise program. While i…
