  • I"m personally a big fan of Jackie Warner dvd workouts. It's a lot of circuit type training - good for muscles and you get some cardio in there as well. I started with her One on One Training dvd (3 20minute workouts - each dedicated to part of body: upper/lower/abs). Her Extreme workout (red cover) is excellent - short…
  • Why eat if you're not hungry? I eat after I exercise. I feel gross if I eat then exercise (if doing cardio).
  • I took a peek at your diary, and honestly, it's not a very healthy one (sloppy joes, fries, coca cola). I don't see any/many fruits/veggies and whole grains. I'm all for things in moderation, but at some point ,you need to look closer to your diet and see what is going on. As for exercise calories - I eat them back (to get…
  • I started running ~2y ago (had noticed for years that friends/family who ran were all trim). I hated it at first, but grew to like it. Don't think I'll ever LOOOVE it, but it gets the job done. I've run a 10K (that's what I "trained" myself for when I first started running. Day one was March 2009, 10K was Oct 2009). I run…
  • I'm 5'3" and have weighed in at 180 at my peak (many moons ago, thankfully). My lowest weight was 125# 5years ago (got their through WW). I have fluctuated between 128 and 137 since. currently at around 132, and would love to get ack to the 120s, but finding it SO very difficult (just turned 38 yesterday, so I'm blaming…
  • NOpe, I'm doing what Chaleen (the instructor) is doing. I'm in pretty good shape (on round 2 of P90X, run, etc) and near my goal weight.
  • There is a whole schedule that accompanies the series - hpoefully your friend will give you that. You workout 6days a week. 2-3 days (depending on if you are doing Classic or Lean) are strength training, 2-3days of cardio, 1 day of yoga. Workouts are at least 50min long (the strenghtening ones also have an ab workout…

  • The gym equipment vastly overestimates the burn in many instances, by usually 100-200+ cal (ime)
  • Go for it! PlyoX is very challenging. I often sub it in for the Cardio X or Kenpo workouts (neithe rof which I feel challenge me enough). I also run instead of doing those workouts.
  • I haven't belonged to a gym since 2005, so I either run or do workout DVDs. I've done Jackie Warner dvd's for the past 2y until starting P90X 4months ago. I also just started Turbo Jam Cardio Party 2 (for the days I want cardio but don't want to run). JW toned me up decently, but I got more notable results w/ P90X.
  • My burn for Ab Ripper X is ~75cals (for frame of reference, I'm 5"3, 133lb). I do all the exercises.
  • directly on your skin. won't work otherwise (The contacts on the strap need to touch skin to pickup your heartrate).
  • Definitely strengthening your legs (esp the quads) help with knee pain. The 30D shred is notorious for inducing knee pain. I won't do it for that reason (it caused knee pain for me and many others I know who've tried it). I can do pretty much any other work out and not have a problem, but the 30DS, nope.
  • Is your brother typically a chauvinist pig? How does he explain the women who are on the videos? I'm on ROUND 2 of P90X, thankyouverymuch (-; I have increased my strength and endurance and have trimmed down and toned up. I don't do pullups, but do use a resistance band in place of that exercise (as demonstrated on the…
  • What are you doing for exercise? I'd love to up my burn!
  • maggie - what type of exercising do you do? I'm starting to wonder if I'm/my HRM is grossly underestimating my burn or if others are grossly overestimating theirs. I know it matters your size and fitness level (i'm 5'3", 134lb and pretty fit). I work out daily for an hour (as I mentioned before I run and do P90X). Even…
  • You are burning roughly double what I do in a week. I burn 300-400 or so calories a day (running and doing P90X). so 3000cal/week sounds pretty high to me.
  • Wait, your HRM is saying you are burning 800 calories doing 38min of walking/jogging? I don't think that's right, not by a long shot!! Have you updated your HRM sinc eyou started using it (since you lost weight?)? I will say the last few pounds are a killer. Is it absolutely necessary for you to los ethat last pound? I'm…
  • P90X is a pretty intense workout program (done by DVDs). It's main focus is strength, but there are some good cardio routines in there as well.
  • It's a great program, but I do fear your weight loss expectations might be a bit lofty (and not very sustainable). 20lbs in 45days? Safe, sustainable weight loss usually hovers around 1-2lb/week. I haven't seen much in the way of weight loss with the program myself (but was within 10lb of GW when I started), but it's great…
  • I'm on Round 2 of P90X (lean version) and INsanity intimidates me (i watched my sister do it once a couple years ago and I was exhausted just watching her!!LOL!). I swap out the P90X "cardio" workouts for running (although I do do the Plyo workout b/c it's great).
  • Definitely invest in an HRM, it's a must for P90X and getting a more accurate calorie burn, ime. For the strength workouts, i tend to burn 300-350 calories (higher end when I do jumping jacks durin gthe the rest/stretch portion).
  • I'm in round 2, wk 2. I have only lost ~4lb, but have toned up quite a bit (esp arms/shoulders/back). Hoping to carve a better stomach this go-around.

  • As long as you do it, I don't really think it matters if you do AbRipper X immediately after the workout, or earlier/later in the day. I have a range of weights, 3lb, 5lb, 8lb, 10lb and 15lb. I started using the 5's and 8's, now use the 8's, 10's and sometimes 15's. good luck!!
  • There is a blood pressure medication that a lot of diabetics are on to protect the kidneys from exactly what you are facing. Lisinopril is the name, you may want to talk to your doctor about it (how concerned is he/she about the spilling protein?). Obvoiusly, getting your DM better controlled will also be very helpful.…
  • This can be a serious matter, and something that should be addressed by your doctor.
  • I do both. I run on my cardio days (although I do do plyo once in awhile), and sometimes on my rest/yoga days as well. For instance, tonight should be a Yoga day for P90X, but I feel the need to run, so i'll run instead (and perhaps do Yoga on my rest day). I am not following P90X to the letter (I do do the strengthening…
  • YOur before and after pictures speak volumes! I just started round 2 of P90X on Sunday. Hoping to see more results during this round.
