Haha, love the photo of you and your daughter. Well done, you! You look amazing.

You look like a whole new person (and I bet you feel that way, too!). Thank you for sharing. I am feeling inspired to buckle down and keep on going (was getting lazy).

You look amazing! Good job!

You look like you have more energy, in addition to looking terrific! Way to go, you!

YUP. Definitely get your thyroid checked. I was tired ALL THE TIME, like 3 PM fatigue so bad I had to think "one leg in front of the other, one leg in front of the other" just to walk back to the train station after class. Sleeping 9-10 hours helped sometimes, but not for long. Turns out I'm hypothyroid! If it's not a…

Ugh, I hate that. I've had donuts actually shoved in my face on multiple occasions (at work AND by relatives).

I think maybe my experience is strange, but what I've noticed is that while at almost 250 lbs I was kind of imposing (even at 5'4"), I am far less so at 199ish. Which means that people tend to feel far more comfortable getting all up in my space on public transit. I actually hate this. But! Happy about other things.

I love this story! Also, haha- he definitely doesn't know what he just signed himself up for! :)

It may or may not be what you want, but I have always been a salty snacks person, and these are things I eat when I want chips or whatever: 1) 1 string cheese 2) kimchi 3) a measured out portion of flavored popcorn 4) pickles

Well, I doubt she meant it as a punishment, but visits to Grandma when I was a kid meant I had to eat cottage cheese and pear halves while my skinny sister ate all the ice cream she wanted, so it felt like a punishment.

Way to go! I've been slacking lately and stories like yours are so inspiring! Thank you for sharing.

This may be too simplistic, but would you be able to switch to an after-work or after-dinner workout? My sister is the opposite of a morning person, so runs at night. I prefer late afternoons.

I know I'm still fat, but I'm having this weird thing where I don't feel (or think I look) any different. Then again, photographs used to shock me, and now I go, "Yeah, that's what I look like," so maybe I've just lost weight to become the person I always thought I was.

I eat a lot of spaghetti squash, and make fake lasagna with eggplant 'noodles". Keeps things interesting and I can eat more if I'm hungry.

As a fat woman with high arches, I adore my Keens. Whereas for running, you want something lightweight and bouncy, a nice sturdy sole will take you for hundreds of miles with no pain. Also, I have yet to wear down my shoe soles in an uneven fashion, something I've always done before! After about a year, they weren't…

What if you found something fun to do that you would enjoy sticking to? I have a friend who dances Flamenco, another who's really into Crossfit, and I used to work with a woman who did Roller Derby and loved it. You might want to look into adult recreational sports, like adult dodgeball, or softball, or do aerobics…

These responses are so helpful, thank you! It is weird that not taking a piece of bread out of the bread basket when it goes around, or not eating donuts after you've already eaten breakfast, or cheese and crackers after dinner, can become Fraught and Political, but it can! Family is weird. I feel better equipped to handle…

Heck yeah!! Well done!

I feel you! People really should just stay out of your body. None of their business!

That's an important milestone! I'm only a few pounds away from that and I will be just as excited when I get there. Well done!

Oh, and one more thing! We've been making "fauxsagna" around these parts for a while now. What you do is get eggplant, or yellow squash or zucchini, whatever's cheaper, and you cut it real thin like lasagna noodles. Then you make yourself a fake lasagna! We don't bother with ricotta, which is expensive and really just a…

Look around for some PCOS forums. What has helped me and some others is trying to cut down on carbs and sugars while not worrying so much about fats. Budget Bytes has been a boon to me, since we're also cash-strapped: http://www.budgetbytes.com/ Try to get out of the mindset that you don't like vegetables! You will need to…

I am a big fan of making breakfast items ahead of time and then grabbing them in the morning. Date balls: There are a bunch of date/coconut ball recipes floating around out there. Mine have a cup of figs, a cup of pitted dates, 1.5 tbsp of peanut butter, 1 tbsp cocoa powder, and a heaping tbsp of crushed nuts (cashews or…

I did some googling and came across this article: http://corinanielsen.com/livefit/?p=1802 I've been reading it and it's pretty amazing. Basically, her interpretation seems to be working out 6-7 days a week and 1300 calories makes your body fight back and store fat to defend itself against the onslaught and keep you alive.…

Sugar is sugar, unfortunately. However, I really and truly believe that natural sugars are much better for you. Anyway, it's good to do things in moderation, and it's always better to eat whole fruits than juice. Here is a list of some low-glycemic fruits:…
