  • I've found that my step counter is inaccurate on my treadmill workouts (no way a 5'2" person only gets 4000 steps in 3.5 miles, which is what it tracked when I worked out this morning). I prefer to use the step counter for regular daily activity and log the workout separately.
  • I applaud your positivity- and by the way, you look great! The holidays were a setback for me too but it's all about how you handle it. You'll be logging losses again in no time.
  • I can relate - it's annoying, and miserable! For the first time since I got super slim in 2011, I've gained some back. I was about 103-104 when I moved back to Houston in March 2016. Now I'm probably 110. It seems like a small amount of weight but it's the difference in at least one clothing size (for me anyway). I'm sick…
  • Be consistent.
  • Chopped, hands down! I love seeing all the wacky ingredients. It's amazing what can be created with leftover skirt steak, marshmallow cream, pickled persimmons, and an old leather shoe. Mmmm....
  • Sounds like you have this thing dialed in. Way to go!
  • I haven't changed much, but I have gained five pounds since my profile picture coupled with a major decline in cardio. Seeing what I used to look like makes me FRUSTRATED because I feel it's impossible to carve out that kind of time in my day now to get those results - and eat like I want to. Some days I let this motivate…
  • I always pre-log and I think overall it works better for me to do this. I like planning; I eat a lot of the same foods everyday and I don't change a whole lot other than dinners. BUT I sometimes find myself eating something solely because I logged it, like maybe I don't eat as intuitively as I should.
  • Chiming in to say I also think you look great! And at your height and starting weight, nine pounds is a nice loss - don't downplay it. And I totally hear you on the wine issue - you really summed up how it affects me, too. Moderating alcohol intake is imperative, at least for me.
  • Nice job. You've accomplished a ton and life happens. Every day is a new day. You'll be back to where you want to be in no time.
  • Scale fluctuations used to dictate my mood and behaviors, too. For a really long time I got away without weighing at all because I was sick of it. When I'd hop on after a few months out of curiosity I would not have gained. My opinion, if you are logging accurately and working out regularly, leave the scale alone. Go by…
  • Beautiful!!!
  • No, work is not my problem. I walk in the tunnels before the day starts and at lunch, and avoid the cookies, cakes and candy dishes. My weight problems are more due to wine and PM snacking. And wine.
  • LOL, I needed this. Thanks for the giggle ;)
  • I agree with you! I just replied to a post where I said I was puzzled by my lack of motivation. But I can't fabricate it - the drive just isn't as strong as it once was, and while I know there are external factors at play, they can't be blamed. Which is exactly why I'm being so inconsistent right now. And I KNOW how to do…
  • I haven't gained it all back but I am in a total fitness slump and want to shed five pounds. I'm having a hard time extending my streak beyond 3, 4 days. I'm puzzled by my lack of motivation, it's so unlike me! Feel free to add me if you want, I'm on daily!
  • Yes, that's me! I suck at weekends. Spend Monday through Thursday getting back on track, start to feel good about myself again and then it's Friday night... fail.
  • Exactly! The nerve of some people, especially at work. Not professional. As a parent now, I have to stress to my young daughter how hurtful it can be to someone when you comment on their body - be it big or small. We all have flaws and I am pretty sure we're aware of what they are, without someone pointing it out.
  • I can totally relate to how major life events can impact your relationship with food and exercise. I relocated with my family this year, a happy thing, but extraordinarily stressful. Just wanted to throw my support out there - I'm struggling big time so I cannot imagine how tough it must be with your circumstances. Good…
  • Holy crap - did I write this? I am struggling with a very similar mindset, AmandaEve. I wish I had some words of wisdom but all I can say is I understand. I don't like accepting the "new me" because I feel like a quitter but on the flipside - and this is reality - I will probably never be as fit as I used to be strictly…
  • I would totally be in. I've been through some serious life changes since the beginning of the year (good changes, but super stressful nonetheless). Things are finally stabilizing and I am in a place to tackle my goals again - but unfortunately I have gained a few pounds in the process and it's been really hard to stay…
  • Add me, too, I like having mom friends. I'm technically a 30-something (I'm 39, with a soon-to-be kindergartener). I could use some motivation on the exercise front myself, we've relocated and have a new house/jobs so it's really been tough for me lately.
  • Once a week maybe?
  • Interesting. My personal habits regarding the bullets: yes, yes, yes, no, no, and usually yes.
  • This is sooo spot on. I've been really successful in maintaining for about 5 years now, and I find myself trying to recover from my first real slide. It sucks, and I probably only gained five pounds, but I am so mad at myself for the behaviors I developed that got me here. So I moved, was unemployed for a few months and a…
  • I have gained some recently, too. It sucks!!!! People around me think I am nuts and don't get it. Relocating and having no job and living in a tiny apartment has been hell, my activity level is shot excluding workouts. Add me if you want. ☺
  • Lol, but you did!
  • Depends on where you are eating, too. The finer dining establishments usually have smaller portions - I can easily eat my whole entree, with a salad and appetizer, without feeling stuffed. If I am eating at a chain restaurant, I prefer to choose one that posts nutritional value so at least I know what I am getting calorie…
  • Greek yogurt for mayo or sour cream. Spaghetti squash in place of real pasta (I love squash and don't care too much for pasta anyway, but I know pasta die-hards may not like it). Low fat cottage cheese for ricotta, and I am another PB2 junkie. I like Flatout Flatbreads if I am having a sandwich, and they are good for…
  • I find having a vivofit to be really motivating in and of itself in terms of hitting my step goal. When the end of the is approaching and I am lagging behind I just find a way - check the mail, take out the trash, hop on the treadmill for a few extra minutes even if it is just slow walking with a book. Do chores, etc.…
