  • I am opposite. before lifting/running, I had bulging quads (fat mostly). 2 years later, my quads are smoothed out, and hammies start showing which is to my liking...:) I don't use any machines that target legs, but rather just compound lifting, with heavy dumbbells, and I do run quite a lot too.
  • True. One thing to add, though, that stress causes belly fat accumalation for everybody, almost...I rarely gain weight around the mdi section but when I was over trained and under huge stress last year...my belly looked so abnormal...never seen in my whole life...
  • ^^ this However, after years of trying out anything, I noticed that my big thighs are more toned than before although I weigh about the same. I have been running, lifting, doing ballet, and insanity...It will come along eventually.
  • Although so many people swear by TDEE, I still have question about its accuracy. First of all it's a calculated number based on a set of number you input. How accurate are these numbers to begin with? not to mention how accurate the algorithm is... Plus, that "lightly active", "moderate" really doesn't say much to me. :(…
  • you should see how my friends "cry" over 2 oz jump on the scale every morning...
  • I guess I don't have any good habit because I haven't been able to losing much.
  • mark the new word I learned. Awesome~
  • Does all that dieting/exercising make people cranky? why so many angry posts, not just this forum, pretty much any forum about weight loss...
  • oh my god..this thread is exhausting...
  • I got a pair of Bowflex 552 adjustable with max 52.5 pounds each. I follow ChaLean Extreme and love it. However, you will find yourself outgrow these weights fairly fast. :) I do also have plates and barbell, but sometimes finding dumbbells are better to work out smaller muscles, IMHO.
  • What I was trying to say is my observation is people tend to eat more than they think...so if someone says he/she only eats 1300 calories, in reality this could be 1500 or more... But I guess I can't make blanket statement for all because there are those who are really good at tracking with accuracy. then that's different.
  • I know a lot of people would disagree with me but when I see posts with "eating xxx calories a day" I try not to comment on it because...for most of people it's more than that number they actually eat. :) so I wouldn't worry too much about it.
  • If it's something you enjoy, why not? Once you are into that "exercise mode", I bet you will start looking for more ways to have fun every day. :) Maybe by then you can try lifting again...but if you find it boring, don't start with it. I know people who just do swiming and have a very lean body.
  • As much as I believe those who claim huge success with insanity including my relatives, I still think it's hard to manage both weight loss and performance at the same time...it's so easy overeating when you are burned and hungry. :(
  • I was wondering about this...Your number is very close to mine and I have been eating like a machine since I started Insanity 3 weeks ago...Did you drop any weight or inch and how long did it take you to see result? if you don;t mind sharing? :flowerforyou:
  • I start having growling stomach every morning since I started Insanity 2 weeks ago...This had rarely happened to me before...I always workout in the morning first thing...
  • yes to me food is like fuel. I learned only eating when I am hungry so taste becomes secondary. I can eat a bag of baby carrots with no dressing. LOL
  • I can't speak for all but based on what I see and hear from my female friends, they freak out when they first start lifting and look slightly bigger due to muscle temporary inflammation. And they think that will last and they will get bigger and bigger...
  • I thought I was not "into" food because I never feel all those sensations a true foodie has told me ...but I am a big eater and I tend to over eat hence...I am big all my life.
  • I agree with you on the inconsistence in sizing these days, even in the same brand. I am fan of J.crew, and I own their pants from 0 to 8...I dont know what the quality control means to these companies nowadays. I find even same style different color/print makes difference in sizes too. I shop at nordstrom as well and some…
  • I think it depends on 1 body shape, 2. starting point. I am pear shaped and for me it's about 10 pounds at least to see the size getting looser, another 10, perhaps to lose a true size. however my waist is always the first to go. So losing weight for me is kinda awkward to buy pants.
  • I know talk is cheap and it's easy to say "eat mindfully" but still it stands...Running may help but as much if you eat lot more than you burn... During last Thanksgiving, I got my sis-in-law to take a 3 mile run every day. It was not just about "minimizing damage" but it also strenghened the bond between us. I miss those…
  • I am very afraid of gaining..
  • I am still guessing the best way for my weight loss and fitness
  • 60 days hard core cardio is a pretty big commitment. I wouldn't want to call it "quick fix". It's not a program that suits everybody for sure... I actaully enjoy doing those moves now. Am I insane? LOL
  • Agreed on "hunger won;t kill you" but it's also true that it's a very unpleasant feeling, especially when you have to deal with this on top of other stresses of daily life...
  • This is me...I am still in the mdidle of the battle...very frustrating...
  • I don't know about the breaking down sugar part, but it definitely will break down my teeth if I drink a lot...I have super sensitive and weak teeth...
  • I dont have gym membership. I have always worked out at home or take a run outside.
