I'm 5'2, so just a little bit taller than you, and I agree, the more I weigh, the shorter I look, especially on pictures.

There's a strength training option under Cardio. It'll give you calories for the time you list for it. Keep in mind that the calories it gives is likely overinflated though.

8 ounces in a cup - great for liquids only. When it comes to food/solids, measure using a food scale instead.

But I can't imagine he looks like that from cycling alone. He must do a great upper body training program as well.

The best i've found, for the best protein to calorie ratio is Body Fortress, available at Walmart of all places. 30g protein for 130 calories.

Thanks!

The bar I have at home is only 20 lbs, started with that one. Then moved to the gym where now I'm using a mixture of Olympic bars or fixed

I opened this thinking you were going to say to dropped the bar on yourself during bench or something. Sorry, you made me lol.

Sweet. Thank you!

Thanks for the feedback guys! Appreciate it. I'll take a look at the EM2WL link later tonight. I know that i'll eventually have to increase my calories, especially the closer to goal I get, but for now, I seem to be doing ok. I am starting to stall on squats, so I may switch to a 3x5 for that, we'll see how it goes over…

Thanks for the feedback guys. I know there are many factors that come into play, and everyone is different. I guess I just wanted someone with lifting experience (and I know many of you do), to give a "yeah your doing ok" or "man you suck" lol  As for my stats, i'm 5'2, currently 162 lbs (started at 224), eat at a…

Thank you!

Potassium and ensure you drink lots of water.

Families are often the most vocal, and critical, even when things are said with the best of intentions. I'm still about 25 lbs overweight, and already my family is started in on the "don't lose any more, you've already lost too much". Do what you have to do for yourself and your own body. Let your families comments slide.…

I haven't given up anything really. It's been quite a long time since I had a tim hortons muffin or donut, but not because I quit eating them, as much as the fact I don't want to waste the calories on them. If I want a sweet, I'd rather have a 200 cal protein bar - curbs my sweet craving but still get some protein in with…

What do you weigh? From what I've read (and someone can correct me if i'm remembering this incorrectly), the recommended daily intake, or what you should consume is .8 g protein per pound you weigh. Anything more than that is not needed. You can change the macros that are set by MFP (you don't need to use the automatic…

Thank you both! I'll take a look at a C25K program, to see if I'm actually able to do it :)

Sigh.

Actually yes you did. Read your original post "... It is not her fault that you got fat... " As for the whole the rest of the country, except you and your wife, not knowing nutrition and exercise, i'll just skip on past that part of your post.

Just because they are looking doesn't mean they are judging. Could be thinking, "wow she looks great for being pregnant". And as someone who got fat during all 3 of my pregnancies, seriously? You are posting a thread about judging your wife, but in it you are judging other women who gained weight during their pregnancies?…

I was just about to post "when monsters are chasing me", but you beat me to it :) Unfortunately I don't run. I don't have the endurance for it. I can do a slow run for about 3-4 minutes, then I'm done in. Kudos to all you runners out there, who can do miles and miles at a time.

Quick add calories - I usually add 30-50 for cooking taste tests :)

I work out in a very loud gym. There's always music playing on the speakers, a bunch of different conversations going on, laughing, guys kidding around. Adding singing on top of that wouldn't dent the noise level. I tend to wear headphones to block out some of the noise. When I forget my ipod/headphones, it's always…

I work full time, and have 3 young kids (ages 2, 7, 11). I go to the gym over my lunch break if my work schedule allows it, I go to gym at night after the kids go to bed. I have a weight bench/plates at home for strength training, when I can't fit in a full session at the gym. I also have a treadmill I use when it's…

It really can be intimidating going to the weights section, especially as an overweight woman. You have all these muscular guys, all this equipment that you have no idea what half of it is for, and the feeling that people are going to laugh at you. I felt that way at first, and I know many others have as well. Once I bit…

Read New Rules of Lifting for Women, it has alot of great information. I don't follow the program, but the information it provides is really helpful. For the first few weeks, go when it's not crazy buzy. For me, I would go about an hour before closing, or late at night, so I could try the machines or lifts I was interested…

Should have also added. I was 29 on my first, 38 when my 3rd was born. We only tried for a month on our 3rd, when I was 37 and trying to conceive. So it is very possible to have perfectly healthy children after 30.

My DH and I tried for over a year on our first. Same thing as you, all our friends/co-workers were happily announcing their great news. All I can say is that it will happen if it is meant to. Can you go for testing to make sure that everything is ok? Sometimes a little extra help in the way of medical help may be needed.…

Same here. My DH shakes his head at me still, because my playlists are always five finger death punch, volbeat, etc. Love rock, metal...all kinds of music really (well except country, not a big country fan at all).

I definitely count it. I don't eat all the cals back from it, but strength training is my main workout. If you go to the cardio section of exercise, and enter strength training, you'll get an option for it.
