I agree with the others about stretching before a run - better to walk or easy jog to warm up. However, I do stretch quite a bit after runs. I think it feels great and is good for you to stretch when you have just finished a good, sweaty workout. I do all kinds: straight legs and touch your toes; calf stretches; arms and…

Thanks for your reply. I knew there had to be someone out there. I've never done it before, and had never even heard of Kim Snyder before, but two friends said how great she was. I like to read about different nutrition plans, so I decided to check her out. I'm about half way through her book, and it seems very…

BAD!

I use half an avocado, no dressing. The avocado gives tons of flavor and enough "moisture" so that the salad's not super dry. Also, a splash of lemon juice is great too.

I am so glad this came up! I was about to post a thread asking if Paleo was low carb. I'm new to Paleo - been on it for a week. But for many months before that, I have been eating clean (no processed foods, refined sugar, etc) - so it's been an easy transition so far. I've seen so many posts about Paleo being low carb and…

Never mind - I googled it.

Welcome! :flowerforyou: I'm new myself - have only been eating Paleo this week. Feel free to friend me if you want. By the way, what exactly is "carb flu"? Thanks!

I didn't specifically do the Zone, but I've eaten 40 carbs / 30 fat / 30 protein for a long time now, and had great success. I found it really easy to follow. I just recently (this week) started Paleo - mostly because I wanted to tighten up on my carbs for a while, just to see how my body reacts. Good luck! :flowerforyou:

Here's his most detailed excerpt about it from the book (that I could find). I'm not saying he's right or wrong (I'm trying to find the right mix myself). Hope this helps! :flowerforyou: "I need to point out that there is a physiological limit to the amount of protein you can ingest before it becomes toxic. A by-product of…

Bump! Want to get this up so we'll get some more responses! :flowerforyou: I ran across this website: http://www.archevore.com/get-started/ Here's a quote: "Archevore eaters typically range from 5-35% carbohydrate, from 10-30% protein and from 50 to 80% fat (mostly from animals) but wider ranges are entirely possible if…

Bump! Want to come back and read this later because I'm looking for ratio suggestions too. I'm new to Paleo/Primal. Have been eating 40 carbs / 30 protein / 30 fat for a while now, but know I need to change that for Paleo/Primal.

Hi everybody, I'm new to Paleo too. I've been eating a high protein / lower carb diet for a while now - really mostly focused on eating clean more than anything (followed Tosca Reno's book), so I'm good with not eating too many processed foods, but now I'm going to give Paleo a shot. I exercise a lot - run, bootcamp,…

I use a food scale and love it. Definitely keeps things in check...

AWESOME JOB!!

Bump! I want to learn more about primal/paleo. Going to read these later. I was hoping to find some things I could read online without having to buy a book. Thanks! :flowerforyou:

Week 3 - down 0.3 pounds. Not much, but I'll take it - at least it's in the right direction!!!
-
Oh, forgot to mention - I'm NEVER constipated anymore!

YES! Like others have said, it is possible to lose weight not eating clean. But there are so many other benefits of eating clean. For me personally, I feel so much more satisfied - no sugar crashes. I have fewer cravings for sweets. I sleep so much better. But, hands down, the biggest difference for me was in my stomach.…

No makeup. I feel gross sweating with makeup on!

I've read (and been told by my trainer) that you should try to keep your sugar intake to 30-40 grams per day EXCLUDING fruit. That being said, don't go overboard on your fruit - it is still calories and sugar. I generally have 1-2 pieces of fruit per day. If you limit your sugars excluding fruit, you'll really be cutting…

Great idea! I've been racking my brain for ways to cut down on carbs in my coffee, but yet not use an artificial sweetener. Unless the Atkins shake uses an artificial sweetener?...hmmm...must research that one...

I also like Tosca Reno's books: http://www.eatcleandiet.com/about_the_diet/the_books.aspx

Bump for later. I need ideas too! :flowerforyou:
